  1. I think there may be another way to accomplish what PunkD intends. It is in effect the way things actually exist in the region now (without the vote part).  Give me a day to try to figure out how to put it into words?

I think I can find a way to compromise in this case.

    Thanks, Dark.

I've worded things intentionally to elicit feast/famine responses again to get our "juices flowing". I am sure there are better ways to get to the same place. thanks for taking a stab at this.

  2. I will say this only once more: the delegate is not bound by the voice laws. You can vote this as many times as you wish, it is not relevant for the delegate's in-game position. This is, hence, pointless and a waste of time. TWP is NOT a fake democracy like SOME other GCRs, and any off-site law is not compulsory for the in-game delegate, nor will ever be.

The reverse of your first sentence is also true that the Voice in not necessarily bound by the delegate and what this proposal does is say that if the Voice wishes to depart from the delegate we can. We don't recognize that each delegate has the right to rule the region as they see fit, but we also have the right to remove any delegate we wish if they prove unresponsive and/or counter to our wishes.

The thing with the delegate being the supreme point of authority is that whomever is in the chair is the authority until the next person comes along and establishes a new authority. And on and on it goes. This proposal is not seeking to align us with other feeders...yuck! This proposal gives the Voice a way to have a - pun intentional - voice in how the in-game functions by giving us a tool to declare a state of rebellion from the sitting delegate. This doesn't state that the in-game delegate is illegitimate, but let's say URAP was couped, right now we have no legal method to fight that delegate.

Not sure about you dudes but if someone were to coup TWP, I know I'd take up arms to get our region back. I am trying to build a method for us to do that and this requires 80% of the voice to go down this road, so it's not likely to be abused.

  3. Hmm....I probably should have been more specific when I said to send along a little note if interested in applying. What I meant was send me a PM if you are interested in a position on the team.

Glad we have a number of folks interested in different positions, but just as a matter of preference I'm not into the self-deprecating "pick me if X refuses or doesn't want the job". Especially for FA we need someone with guile and balls.

  4. Um... okay. As stated in the Voice's absence/inactivity thread, Hariko(incumbent DA Internal Affairs) won't be active for a week or so. Also Russo has confirmed that Recuecn(incumbent DA Foreign Affairs) is busy due to some RL issues. May I suggest that we postpone the renewal of these two departments for the time being, in respect for two remarkable people who are both regional Guardians and respectable members of TWP society?

Oh, and by the way what will be the job of the Intelligence and Communications DAs?

If I have learned anything from my own removal from the Guardians, delays are no longer going to be acceptable. We've got to push forward. This is not an indictment against any one person, but we need to move.

  5. I am hereby removing all Deputy Advocates.

This is not a reflection on their service, it's more a "shock value" moment.

If current deputy advocates would like to resume their positions, please PM me and you all have first right of refusal.

If others are interested in Deputy Advocate positions, please send along a nice note and you will be considered.

EDIT: The clock for those in their roles wanting to stay in them is 48hours and it began at the time of this post.

  6. There is a change to the Charter I'd like to propose.  I hope this gets our juices flowing. Here goes:

    Current

    (3) The Union will recognize the right of the Delegate to exercise any power granted to the Delegate by NationStates mechanics.

    Proposed

    (3) The Union will recognize the right of the Delegate to exercise any power granted to the Delegate by NationStates mechanics. In the event that the Union can no longer recognize the policies of the Delegate, the Union will seek to enter into a "State of Rebellion", after a vote in which four-fifths of the Voice approve, to unseat the sitting Delegate with a more preferred candidate.

Why? I am definitely a believer in the Delegate is the in-game authority. But I also believe that we can fight the delegate if we believe his/her policies run counter to what we would like to see in TWP. A State of Rebellion is just that and would take 80% of the Voice to approve.

  7. Greetings TWP'ers.

I'm back from vacation. School is over. Here's the latest OOC news and how it relates to the IC news.

On the first day of my vacation 2 weeks ago my father was hospitalized and had surgery. He was in the hospital for 5 days. Came through fine. I spent the second week of my vacation at my dad's house b/c the first week was at the hospital.

Came home, got my batteries recharged, unfortunately to find out he's back in the hospital with an infection. The guy is having a hard time catching a break though I told him - deadpanned - it's better to be sick than dead.

    He was amused.

I should be back to full time Advocacy and I plan on attempting to push us forward and with gusto. TWP is a very good place and I want to get our forums active. TWP - some don't know - used to be one of the most active off-site feeder forums. If it was second in activity, it was second to TNP but it was extremely active. I'd like to build that and while we may not be successful, the attempt is worth it.

So I return refreshed and ready to roll!

  8. I will be hit or miss from here through 7/30. My last two classes for my master's degree and I've gotten a little behind b/c work is kicking my butt. It's Sunday and I'm in the office so.

I also have a vacation coming up from 8/11 - 8/24 but I'll probably be online during that time at times. But the next week and a half is going to be rough, but getting to the finish line!! :)

  9. I'm good with what westie has proposed.

I'll mention that until the 29th, my time is tough.

I'll be on vacation 2 weeks in august as well, but after that time I should actually get a ton of time back to focus. For now, with the Military I'm going to try and leverage what westie has offered to assist us.

  10. Alrighty fellas let's try this thing again.

Here's my initial thought. We need to light a match before we start a fire. Let's start small. To get things rolling I want to hear from you about what you think we should first focus on. I have plenty of thoughts, but let's hear from you!

    Begin. :)

  11. If confirmed as Advocate, it is my intention to keep the DAs as currently constituted (provided they wish to remain) and only replace myself.

Having said the latter, if there is someone interested in the military, please send me a PM.
