  2. Confidential - Chancellors Briefing on the situation near Aftokratoria Chancellor Amelia Marcus is briefed by Rear Admiral Mina Graf of the Sekiyan Expeditionary Fleet that was sent to Aftokratoria and Czuleck last month. Also present is Grand Admiral Apsel Wolff and the Chief of Strategic Defence, Radulf Gantzmann. Mina Graf: "Chancellor.. last weeks naval encounter is exactly why we need to send more ships. Operation Teilen is almost complete.. why not bring it forward by a few years?" Gantzmann: "Chancellor I must protest. If we send such a large fleet up north It will leave our shores horribly undefended." Marcus: "I see both of your points... Wolff, what is your opinion?" Wolff: "Well.. I dont think we can bring forward Operation Teilen.. and Gantzmann is right, we can't leave our shores so defended." Mina Graf: "But we have no enemies that could even reach Sekiya, let alone strike at our coast!" Wolff: "Mina... I appreciate your enthusiasm as an Admiral and you have my respect for reaching your position at such a young age and you're an amazing naval commander... however there are things about geopolitics you just don't understand yet." Gantzmann: "Wolff is right.. if we send more ships north, we're broadcasting to the world that Sekiya is ready for war... and frankly, we're not ready for a war if half of our navy is on the other side of the continent." Mina looked defeated Marcus: "Thank you, gentlemen... However, just entertain me. What would our situation look like right now if we put Operation Teilen into affect now..?" Mina looked excited Mina Graf: "Well-" Mina looked defeated, again. Marcus: "I'm asking Gantzmann." Gantzmann: "Well... The first problem is that we don't have a suitable base for the northern fleet. Additionally, we would currently need at least one, if not two more auxiliary ships to support this, however we have identified several nations we could purchase these vessels from." Marcus: "So it would be a logistical nightmare then..?" Gantzmann: "I'm afraid so.. We are still waiting on two more Holz-Class frigates to be laid down, however there have been significant delays in their construction. However, the two Cambric corvettes we ordered are well on the way and should be ready to sail in 5 months, however it's important to note it will take several months to train the crews for both of these vessels." Marcus: "It's a shame... I wish we were three years ahead of where we are now..however we will have to work with what we have. Wolff, Is there any way of sending reinforcements to Aftokratoria..?" Wolff: "I wouldn't recommend it at all.. however the RNS Castle's sister ship, the RNS Fortress could be sent, complimented by the frigate, RNS Enn. However, this leaves us with 1 destroyer, 3 frigates, 5 corvettes and 10 miscellaneous, dated missile craft." Mina Graf: "And the RNS Bastion..?" Wolff: "Realistically, at best the RNS Bastion is going to be out of commission for a year." Marcus: "Mina.. I wish there was more we could do, however I just don't think we have the resources for this...Thank you everyone for the briefing on this matter, I will be following the issue closely. Gantzmann, I will be seeing you later for the briefing on the situation on Campa Simpatica?" Gantzmann: "Yes, Chancellor.. until then." Marcus: "Mina.. stay for a minute, will you?" Gantzmann and Wolff leave. Mina Graf: "Yes.. Chancellor?" Marcus sighs, wishing she could do more for the young Admiral. Marcus: "Just know that.. I fully support your career in the navy, and I think in time, you will be one of the best in Sekiyan naval history.. however this time, there is sadly nothing we can do right now." Mina Graf: "Thank you Chancellor.. I'm sorry I got heated earlier." Marcus: "It's.. okay. Just stay focused on the expeditionary fleet for now, and I wish you safe travels back to the RNS Castle.

  3. News by the people, for the people Est 1388 [National] Oil spill near Usta Island affecting thousands Published August 18th 1423 Written by Kain Jokinen CzWNS Eldheim, a Aldingan Class Missile Boat out on patrol near Usta Island prior to the provocation. In a recent escalation to the previous oil spill near Usta Island, a skirmish at sea has occurred between Fauthur and the navies of Czuleck and Sekiya. Whilst no personnel have been reported dead, tens were wounded on both sides and CzWNS Fjellborg was heavily damaged following the incident. As part of the 4th [Reserve] Surface Combat Flotilla, the CzWNS Eldheim and Fjellborg were deployed near Usta Island as a way to patrol the area and prevent further incursions by Fauthur. Whilst at port, they received an urgent call for reinforcement after the Sekiyan RNS Destiny spotted Fauthurian vessels. With only time to arm their torpedo tubes and 57mm cannons, the two Czuleck missile boats set out. After seven minutes at sea, they reached the scene of the dispute. Negotiations then ensued between both sides to have Fauthur leave peacefully. However, in an act of aggression by Fauthur, UNFC Grafen-Holmer fired warning shots at both the Czuleck missile boats and the Sekiyan frigate, eventually opening fire on the two. In a retaliatory strike after having her communications mast hit, the CzWNS Fjellborg fired one of its torpedoes at the attacking force, landing a direct hit on UNFC Ventig. This led to the Fauthur ships fleeing the area of operations, and a successful protection of Aftokratoain waters. Four Czuleck sailors were wounded in the skirmish, including the boat’s but thankfully none were killed. Both CzWNS Eldheim and Fjellborg were awarded a battle star by the Worker’s Navy, and the crew of the Fjellborg has claimed their first ship sunk, although it is unconfirmed if the UNFC Ventig sunk on its journey back to Fauthur. Whilst many cheered this as a victory for Czuleck, there is a small, yet growing movement of neutrality. Many of those calling for neutrality claim this wasn’t Czuleck’s battle to fight, and much worse could happen if the confederation stays within the conflict. This is an especially popular movement among those between 16-26 age range, but with fleeting support among the older age groups. Despite calls for neutrality, a majority of the nation still supports intervention into the region, especially after the environmental impact the original oil spill had on Usta island. The only commune that has a large amount of support for neutrality is that of Bundaberg, but it alone only has 13% of citizens supporting it. On the opposite side of the aisle, a large and faster growing call for the modernization of the navy has started. Always known as the “oldest” branch, the navy mostly operates naval vessels dating back to the 1370s and 1380s, with the newest vessels being auxiliary ones. Instead of producing new ships of the line, the Worker’s Navy has instead modernized older vessels with newer defensive and offensive capabilities. The current program of modernization has been successful, but various technical councils within the Navy have claimed upgrading ships can only last so long before they can’t be brought any further into the future. Instead, newer ships need to phase out the older classes, and stealth needs to be the name of the game. Gone are the days of brick-like ships, replaced by smooth stealth corvettes. In a temporary compromise, the Czuleck Forum approved a defense bill to equip corvettes and missile boats with the new Moterick Anti Air Defense System [MAADS] by 1425. Until then, all ships without current Anti Air systems will have spots for Man-portable air-defense system [MANPADS], which can only effectively target helicopters and slow/low flying aircraft. Once upgraded, capabilities of corvettes and missile boats will be greatly expanded, and prevention of attacks from missiles can be expanded. Moterick system [Left] and MANPADs system [Right] side by side Many are curious if further naval assets will be deployed to the Usta island region, but that remains to be seen. The People’s Forum, as of writing, is in debate about whether to take things more diplomatically or escalate the situation, with fierce arguments coming from both sides. However, action is waiting on what Fauthur’s next step is going to be, and most likely will come after they make a move. Until action is taken, the 4th [Reserve] Flotilla will stay at Usta, comprising of three Missile boats, two Home Guard Patrol Boats, various Fast Assault Craft, and other auxiliary vessels. In addition, home guard personnel have been placed on a medium alert. This alert establishes defense classes around the island, makes sure guards are on a 24 hour deployment readiness schedule, and increases coastal patrols among other things. Until further, CMPC will keep coverage on this rapidly developing situation. The station has even gained permission to join patrols near Usta island, which allows for more accurate coverage to any interested.

  4. Incident at seas 10th of August 1423 4:23 PM sharp, waters of Aftokratoria, near the oil spill site It was a rather calm afternoon. The waves were slowly crawling up the beaches, almost no wind to feel. Yet the water splashing against the hull of the ship was audible to the whole crew of the Sekiyan RNS Destiny, a Holz Class Frigate. The whole reason it was there was to safeguard Aftokratorian waters and help with the oil spillage, with the crew thinking nothing much would happen. But they were there for a reason, a reason that will soon make itself known. The radar was quiet, everyone was doing what they were assigned to do, many relaxing on deck. The captain of the Sekiyan RNS Destiny is checking over some papers in his office when a frantic knocking could be heard on the office door. “Come in.” said the captain, “What’s the matter?” The executive officer stepped into the office, heavily panting like he’d just ran a marathon. “Sir, we spotted 2 unidentified military vessels approaching the location, *deep breath* we’ve sent up a recon helicopter already to see what comes of it. We presume they are vessels of Fauthurian nature!” For a brief moment, it felt like silence shook the room. The captain stared into the eyes of the executive officer with intense seriousness. It felt like ages, but the captain finally came to word. “Get everyone ready. I want immediate communication contact with these vessels.” Without saying a word, both the captain and the executive officer hurried out of the office. One could feel the tense aura that was emitting from the captain. Just a minute later, the captain and a radio operator made contact with the vessels and the recon helicopter report came back positive for Fauthurian military vessels. They appeared to be 2 smaller offshore patrol vessels of the Grafen-Holmer Class, manufactured 1408, already in dire need for a refit. With the vessels closing in about 20 kilometers (12,4 miles) away, radio connection was finally established and a heated, but still serious discussion could be heard from both sides. The Fauthurian vessels were advised to change course and leave the area multiple times, although they did not budge and remained steady on course. Meanwhile other radio operators called in backup from 2 nearby Czuleckian missile boats just 7 minutes out. 4:35 PM The Fauthurian vessels were now in line of sight, barely 6 kilometers out and at a full stop. Just like the RNS Destiny. The two vessels made themselves known as the UNFC Grafen-Holmer and the UNFC Ventig and were protesting on their right to be in these waters, claiming it’s international waters, although the navigations on the RNS Destiny stated it’s Aftokratorian territory. Once more the Captain of the RNS Destiny, now backed up by the side of 2 Czuleckian missile boats, the CzWNS Eldheim and the CzWNS Fjellborg, advised the 2 Fauthurian vessels to turn back immediately, reason being they’re violating Aftokratorian waters. Failure to do so would result in warning shots. Without a response, one of the Fauthurian vessels aimed its armament in the direction of the RNS Destiny. The RNS Destiny did the same, along with the two missile boats on standby and the Sekiyan Holz Class Frigate RNS Concorde also underway as backup, although too far away. Suddenly, the captain of the UNFC Grafen-Holmer spoke on the radio. “We have a right to travel through here. This is international waters and thus we are free to traverse along this path. We won’t have any remorse, nor hesitation to open fire unless you move out of our way and stop impeding our travels. We are simply following orders.” It was immediately clear to everyone that this was a big threat, and no one is going anywhere. Although visibly angry and slightly panicked, the Captain of the RNS Destiny responded in a calm and peaceful manner, going with the diplomatic solution: “We both know that this is Aftokratorian waters, and you are violating said waters. Turn around this instant and there will be no further consequences and no harm done. If you plan on forcing your way through, we are also ready to respond with all means possible, as well as further backup arriving soon.” Afterall, one could simply not let these Fauthurian vessels pass on Aftokratorian waters with everything that has happened. And that is why the RNS Destiny was here; to protect these waters. A big suspense filled the air. What would happen next? Will there really be an engagement between the task forces? Guns are aimed, ranges found, and a lot of sailors scared or eager are waiting for what happens next. The water still splashing loudly against the hull, seemingly intensifying by the second. Finally, the silence was broken with a stern voice coming through the radio again. “We will give you 2 minutes. Let us pass or we will use lethal force. We will not be brought off course by a couple of idiots.” A loud bang was heard, shaking the crew of both the RNS Destiny and the Czuleckian missile boats. The UNFC Grafen-Holmer fired a warning shot above the RNS Destiny. “Hold your fire!” the intercom of the ship announced. “If they fire again, we will retaliate.” The captain speaking through the radio to the Fauthurian vessels a last time. “Turn around now and there will be no consequences! We can solve this peacefully, but if you fire again, we will be forced to retaliate with everything we have!” With a loud and continuous creaking sound, the UNFC Venting now turned her turrets in the direction of one of the Czucleckian missile boats, the CzWNS Fjellborg. Around 4:41 PM After another minute of suspense, the Fauthurian vessels began firing upon the taskforce of Sekiyan and Czuleckian vessels without warning in a near spectacular manner. Explosions after explosions and loud bangs, mixed with loud yelling of sailors mixed the air. It was now a life or death situation and everything was moving in a hurry. Shells flying overhead, missing towers and funnels by mere inches, panicked yells of terror echoed through all ships as an immediate distress signal was emitted from the RNS Destiny. After two minutes of terror and ear defeaning banging, the shots of both sides stopped. “HOLD FIRE!” Was announced on all of the ships near simultaneously, just a second after a torpedo was mistakenly fired from the CzWNS Fjellborg in the direction of the UNFC Ventig due to a communication error, striking it amidships after a couple of seconds. The captain of the UNFC Grafen-Holmer announced an immediate cease fire and disengagement, stating defeat and wanting to prevent the loss of life. But only really done to not be sunk themselves. By a miracle almost no shots hit the RNS Destiny, nor its complement or the missile boats. It seemed the Fauthurian vessels had new crewmates on board or were deliberately missing shots. The Captain of the RNS Destiny immediately called in the cease fire and disengagement to a nearby naval base. Only 14 injured, no dead are the official numbers reported after a checkup. Both the UNFC Ventig and the UNFC Grafen-Holmer had already turned around and are fleeing, with many losses, both of Fauthurian and Artingurian nature. The UNFC Ventig sailing behind the UNFC Grafen-Holmer with greatly reduced speed, listing badly to one side and a massive fire raging on board that still wasn’t contained. After the situation had calmed down significantly, the captain of the RNS Destiny went back to his office and reported the happenings to higher staff immediately and with great urgency in his voice. The RNS Destiny would need to return to port to repair still, reason being that a part of the front mast was blown off, along with the CzWNS Fjellborg that sustained heavy damage on its bow as a result of a penetrating high explosive shot. This incident would spark a new major fire on the already fragile situation between Aftokratoria and Fauthur, also possibly worsening relations with Sekiya and Czuleck in the process. The reaction may yet be seen but the government of Fauthur is keeping it secret from the public for now and censors any and all allegations and news reports of this incident. Made in collaboration with Sekiya, Artingur, Czuleck, Aftokratoria and Fauthur
