    Looking for Something to Do

    What would people like to see from the army and from the media branch of TWP?

     

    I'm willing to invest my focus into one of them, but before I make any commitments I want to be certain that I'm capable of meeting our expectations and goals, and that I'm willing to put in the effort needed to do so.

     

    I'd like to see an active and independent TWP military, capable of performing missions on most updates.

     

    Media, I'd like to have a regional newspaper that reports on the major events of the NS world with a piece of satire thrown in once in a while. It might also be helpful if the media could facilitate discussion on these events.

    There are tasks that need filling. Thanks for offering to lend a hand Pestarzt.

     

    • The military is devoid of all life and could do with a shake up.
    • FA is always in need of Ambassadors and update writers
    • The newspaper could do with someone to write for it and edit
    • Intelligence Service could do with some people
    • The new legislature is going to need legislators
    • Role Play needs a new Arbiter-General to get things going again

    I'm sure than this to do but if any of these take your fancy, just jump right in.

    Severance of relations between the West Pacific and Gatesville Inc.

     

    Following the recent coup of Osiris, the West Pacific had some difficult decisions to make concerning our relationship with our then ally, Gatesville. Gatesville has, for a long time, been a close ally of the West Pacific and the decision to terminate relations with them was not an easy decision by Delegate AGP and the Guardians. Unfortunately, the West Pacific felt let down on a number of key issues concerning Gatesville; firstly, Gatesville's decision to associate themselves with known COPS violators, namely the Aezean Combine, is unforgivable to regions that uphold COPS; secondly, the West Pacific learned that members of the Gatesville High Council misrepresented a number of issues during treaty negotiations.

     

    On COPS, the West Pacific considers the COPS treaty inviolable and considers the association of Gatesville and the Aezean Combine to be an affront to the civilised regions of NationStates. The COPS treaty was created in order to show respect to the off-site property of all regions in NationStates and the West Pacific finds any region in violation or any region to be associated with those in violation of the treaty unworthy of holding relations with the West Pacific as they do not recognise such basic rights as maintaining an offsite forum. TWP Delegate All Good People has stated that there will be no hope of further TWP-Gatesville relations should Gatesville continue to work with known COPS violators.

     

    On misrepresentation, treaties are a sign of mutual respect and trust between regions and this trust was betrayed by Gatesville. The West Pacific is concerned that a region that would consider itself our ally would seek to manipulate us in an attempt to damage one of our fellow Game-Created regions. It had been revealed that this misrepresentation extended to issues concerning the now defunct Sovereign Confederation, security threats towards the West Pacific, claims of control over The West Pacific and others. It also became increasingly clear that the actions taken by Gatesville are, in fact, a personal vendetta. The West Pacific could not recognise nor endorse personal vendettas as an acceptable way to play the game.

     

    All of these insults towards the West Pacific added up and it became clear that treated relations with Gatesville were unpalatable. The Alco-Choco-Klingon Treaty was severed on the 17th July 2013.

    Interior Update

    Interior in The West Pacific has had a slow couple of week due to low activity both in the region and NS at large, this has not dampened our spirits however. Following the scandal of Feeder-recruiting, Interior turned it's attention to creating games to fill idle moments. As such, Interior declared a "Week of Games", publishing a new spam game every other day. These games are still on going and a winner has yet to be found!

     

    The week of games came to a close and we pondered what we would do next to try and rouse some activity and so was born the "TWP debating competition" which was sadly abandoned due to lack of activity. Interior salutes That Called the Vlagh who was the only participant.

     

    The Interior Ministry now looks to the future and to creating an active Ministry and an active TWP.

    COPS Question

    It was my understanding that there is no exhaustive list of regions singed to COPS and you don't sign to it, per se. The COPS treaty is simply something acknowledged by understanding regions as something they should never break should they wish to be recognised as a respectable region by the NS community.

     

    I don't know, however, and will happily defer to someone with greater knowledge on this subject.

    The War of Osiris is over

    Earlier today, JAL/Durkadurkiranistan, Governor Imperator of The Dourian Embassy and Osiris issued the following statement on the Gameplay forums:

     

    As some of you may know, Gatesville, Pharoah Cormac, myself, and others have been involved in deep negotiations over the past week. We've seen the Kemetic Republic of Osiris change much over these past 30 days; frankly, these changes in its approach to foreign affairs and the like are a marked improvement, in my eyes. It is with this in mind that I announce that a deal has been struck, with the terms outlined below.

    1. The Kemetic Republic of Osiris will be restored as the ruling government of Osiris.
    2. The delegacy will be transfered directly from The Dourian Embassy to Cormac A Stark.
    3. The Dourian Embassy will not be ejected or banned from the region thereafter.
    4. The Kemetic Republic of Osiris agrees to close relations with the Founderless Region Alliance (FRA).
    5. The Kemetic Republic of Osiris agrees that all relations with the West Pacific will remain closed permanently.
    6. The Kemetic Republic of Osiris agrees to end its participation in the Pan-Sinker Security Pact.
    7. The Kemetic Republic of Osiris recognises Gatesville's intentions in their own unique way to promote sovereignty in Nationstates through the occupation of Osiris, thanks Gatesville for their willingness to broker a deal, and assures them that no ill-will remains.
    8. The Kemetic Republic of Osiris recognises the support of The New Inquisition and The Land of Kings and Emperors in resolving this conflict and thanks them for their patience, loyalty and support throughout in dealing with all their stakeholders.

    I hence ask all military units endorsing me from Gatesville, the New Inquisition, the Land of Kings and Emperors, and wherever else, to endorse The Pharaoh of Cormac A StarkThe Pharaoh of Cormac A Stark. To ensure the swift and proper execution of term #2, I ask that these units leave their endorsements on me until Cormac surpasses Detective Figs and Sentimental Journey in endorsements, at which point these units should then drop their endorsements of me.

    This statement and agreement ends the long running war between the Kemetic Republic of Osiris and the Gatesville backed Imperium of Osiris following the transfer of Delegate nation, The Dourian Embassy, to the control of Gatesville.

     

    Interestingly, the agreement also orders that the Kemetic Republic never reopen relations with The West Pacific, this is following the closure of all relations between The West Pacific and Gatesville.

     

    Response on the Gameplay forum is decidedly against the terms laid out by Gatesville to the Kemetic Republic with Tilk coming to the conclusion that Gatesville has won the war. Like many others, AMOM (Delegate of The East Pacific) was understandably confused by the proceedings.
