  2. A look into the league - Part 1, Matchdays 1-6. After a short animated introduction, the scene opens in the TVNC studio, with 2 people sitting at a desk. [Liandre D.]: Good evening ladies and gentlemen! You are currently watching TVNC - The sports segment! With me your host Liandre Diaxilva, and my good friend, Xiava Vixilaní, where we will take a good look at the current state of the Liga "A", our national league here in Ryxtylopia. [Xiava V.]: There's been some expected and unexpected results in this one! So we'll have a lot of stuff to cover. [Liandre]: We sure do, but how about we start with who do you think is going to win the league this time? [Xiava]: We'll id love to see Bixas to finally win something after 3 years, but with our current squad and results, er yeah... [Liandre]: Didn't the Bixas "band" attack Mytapixas supporters after last match? [Xiava]: Yeah... you know how it is, at least we haven't been relegated! [Liandre]: Oh stop... before you start a riot. [Xiava]: My appologies, ill leave my preferences aside. Well its complicated but Libre are looking incredibly strong so far, while they haven't scored as many as Mytapixas they've conceeded less, i think "the red devils" will take the title this time. [Liandre]: Possible, its a race between them Mytapixas and Priava to see who looses a match first! As they're all on a 6-game win streak. [Xiava]: Ugh, yeah i noticed... [Liandre]: Both Mytapixas and Libre have fierce attacks, and Priava struck gold with their midfield, i have no doubts they'll get at the very least a few millions when they let them go to a more prosperous place. [Xiava]: True, their midfield has carried them to so many successes. [Liandre]: Come on hold your anger, Pablo will join us soon, before you explode at even mentioning Rio Priava, as always. [Xiava]: I DON'T EXPLODE I- ugh alright yeah i get your message. Anyways Isportivo; despite lacking a fanbase is also having a good opener to the season. [Liandre]: That joke never gets old, but its true they dont have a fan b-baseahahahaAhahah... Liandre and Xiava both chuckle at the old joke. [Liandre]: hahah... Well back to the table. Raquivas is doing good, the "Red n' Blues" will probably make it through as well as Myvas who made a comback from loosing the first day at home. [Xiava]: Indeed, followed by Pinichaca which might drop down once they encounter some of the giants, and surprisingly "the miners" are in 8th currently, having a really good season. [Liandre]: Obriros only have 3 titles dating back to the 80's and 90's so this might be their opening! At this point another person entered the room. [Liandre]: Pablo, you took forever, you're late! [Pablo Tiarrova]: Sorry Sorry, i was watching the replay of the raquivas game! [Xiava]: Well take a seat, we're exiting the top 8. [Pablo]: Right, so who's next in your little show? [Liandre]: Well its- [Xiava]: Bixas of course which is having a rough time but will make a comback soon, after all the largest club in the country cannot stay out of the top 8. [Liandre]: Could you- [Pablo]: Leave her, you'll only make it worse... Right on to spot 10! Tsalapaní having a 0 Goal Difference but in sight of the top 8, they have the talent to get in the top 8 if they make enough effort. [Liandre]: Yeah, tied with Qixas on goal difference, just taking the lead by 1 point, Qixas are doing alright, they've seen better days but they're still in reach of the top 8. [Xiava]: And would you look at that, the three teams made from ex-students sharea similar spots on the table, both U's and Ystiandes, out of all of them Ystiandes currently look in a better state, both the University of Saxatí and of Ryxenia have had poor seasons so far, and if they keep their current form, reaching the top seems unlikley, however they are improving. [Liandre]: They sure are and so is Vynitiná they're making an effort while Liarvas is starting to go downhill and so is Liipica and Garravas, as we enter the RELEGATION ZONE! [Xiava]: They're going to the B! They're going to the B! They'll go! go to the B! [Pablo]: Pinilaca, Tirilpense and Ryxtylopiana only have 1 point! and so far Ryxtylopiana are loosing the goal difference battle. But at least they're no Carraizal, the only team that has lost all their matches so far having a -16 goal difference! [Xiava]: They're going to the B! They're going to the B! They'll go! go to the B! [Liandre]: Oh shut up! That's an old song. [Xiava]: Maybe cuz you've already visited the "B". [Pablo]: Now calm down here; Carraizal look like our most likley relegation candidate but they haven't played at home, so things CAN change, before we all start shouting "B!" but for now lets check the top goalscorers... [Liandre]: Right, let me there we go! The Screen Changes to a table of the top goalscorers: Player Team Goals Scored Inzé Fransquixa Rio Priava 9 Andreís Richava Bixas 8 Rauíl Disquiverria Libre 8 Ezicaiel Barvas Mytapixas 7 Theo Dixilfane Raquivas 7 Rauíl Disquerravia Isportivo Ryxenia 6 Andreís Dixilfane Mytapixas 6 Marco Viraxa Myvas 6 Pablo Arvaléz Pinichaca 6 Railo Asvarruna Qixas 6 [Liandre]: So in first place we got Inzçe Fransquixa for Rio Priava passing the next 2 with only one goal, followed by Andreís Richava for Bixas and Rauíl Disquiverria for Libre, both tied with 2 goals, the rest have under 8 goals at the moment. [Xiava]: Maybe Richava wont be in 2nd for long... [Liandre]: Ugh, well the table doesn't really show the full reality of things as while Inzé is at the top, we have to remember Libre and Mytapixas are over Rio Priava in goals scored, they just have the goals scored distributed between more people. [Pablo]: They do, and we can now look at the assists table, once i press this... there! The Screen Changes to a table of the top assisters: Player Team Goals Assisted Luque Pirrava Rio Priava 8 Lardo Armatez Bixas 7 Andreís Yirapa Libre 7 Andreís Indrava Raquivas 7 Andreís Irrestafica Isportivo Ryxenia 6 [Liandre]: Rio Priava still leading in this regard, and 3 players being tied on assists. [Xiava]: Yeah... Their possetion based game seems to be working out for them. [Pablo]: So far it is annnd we have one last table, most saves! The Screen Changes to a table of top saves by GK's: Player Team Saves Andreís Yirapa Tsalapaní 9 Enrico Astiveilla Libre 7 Julio Lisquerva Pinichaca 7 Marco Valandres Bixas 6 Franco Arvaldí Rio Priava 5 [Xiava]: Finally something those dummies from the Rivalda aren't leading in. [Liandre]: Tsalapaní has drawn a lot of games thanks to Yirapa, who's having an amaizing opening to his season despite his club not performing too well so far. With Libre's GK Astiveilla and Julio Lisquerva for Pinichaca being next. [Pablo]: Libre ocationally lacks in the midfield department so it makes sense why their GK has seen some action. Also lets not forget Valandres, who seemingly has the ability to predict penalties, being between the two posts for Bixas. [Liandre]: And Arvaldí being 5th, mainly due to free kicks, since his team possetion based play means he might see the ball on the other side of the field than on his more often than not. [Xiava]: Well, the folks at the Rivalda might soon have trouble once they face more competent opponents, but now i think its a good place to leave the broadcast, i have to get ready to get to the stadium. [Liandre]: And i have to leave for the staffroom. [Pablo]: Aw, so soon? I sureley couldn't have arrived that late! [Liandre]: You did today and you'll always be late! At this rate you won't even make an appearance in the next rugby world cup transmissions! [Pablo]: Aw crap, ill make sure to wake up earlier to have more time. [Xiava]: Oh you better you lazybones. chuckle [Pablo]: I will i will, well i guess since i was the last one here i can do the sign o- [Liandre]: ALRIGHT THAT WILL BE EVERYTHING OUR DEAR AUDIENCE THANKS FOR TUNING IN TO TVNC AND WE'LL SEE YOU ON THE NEXT REPORT! [Pablo]: AAGGH! I hate you... The three burst into laughter and get up as the camera zooms away and the screen transitions to ads.

  11. Recommendations for the Final Matches - Nieubasria vs Cambria and Dalimbar vs Arifiyyah The Finale of the Third World Cup of Football, happening in Ryxtylopia in 1423 will see defending champions Nieubasria attempt to win the title for the third straight time in a row, against opponents from the same continent: Cambria, who will go for their first ever Football World Cup win after finishing in third in both the previous editions of the tournament. But now with the Cambrians having surpassed the semi finals, after defeating the last non-polarii team: Arifiyyah, they hope to be able to win the world cup, whilst Nieubasria come off strong after defeating Dalimbar. This match promises to be an intense and memorable one, and one of the teams will crown themselves champions of the footballing world for the next year, whilst the sport is the reason we all gather here for this day, there are also recommendations that the Ryxtylopian Government would like to make for tourists going to the game. As well as this, audiences will also be able to watch the match for the bronze medal (or third place), between Polarii team: Dalimbar and Auran team Arifiyyah, Both teams had a good tournament despite Dalimbar struggling in the group stage, whilst Ariffiyah is one of the previous finalists, whilst their team failed to make the final, they still have a shot at to take home the bronze. Where will the games happen? Nieubasria vs Cambria: The Finale between Nieubasria and Cambria will take place in the Istadio Franco Rivalda, also known as "Il Colosso" (The Colossus) home of the Ryxtylopian National Team, as well as Club Atletico Rio Priava. This stadium is the largest in Ryxtylopia and one of the largest in all of Aura, with a capacity of 81,500 spectators, its an old but recently modernized complex that has seen several of the greatest moments not only in ryxtylopian club football, but also at an international level. The stadium has many seating areas to choose from, and it has screens for areas with harders views, which will provide live coverage from the game, as well as zoom into the most exciting moments of the game. With that said, transport to the venue will be provided in the Ryxenia area, many hotels having already bundled it with their offers, if having purchased a bundle isn't the case for the consumer, the price to pay is relativley cheap by most standards, considering theese busses have been chartered by the ryxtylopian government, as well as this taxis and other private transport options are available. When it comes to food and drink, the Rivalda's large hallways surrounding the stadium have plenty of stands willing to sell many options of both fast and traditional food at cheap prices, drinks; mainly soda and alcoholic beverages are also available, as well as this; snacks can be bought by vendors wandering the stands, again at cheap prices. The stadium does include some other facilities, mainly the bathrooms, parking lot, and for the private boxes there's service to get your food delivered straight to your location, as well as a TV to give you company. The Rivalda is Subdivided into 4 stands: Raixas, Bravaino, Esquirriva and Saivilla, and theese are subdivided again into upper, mid, and lower sections, with each stand having retractable fences to separate fans from each team; however due to the low risk involved in this match theese fences won't be raised but its still not recommended to wander off your assigned area. When it comes to entrances, the Rivalda has 3 large entrances, and several other emergency exits with clear signs indicating where to head to in the case of an emergency. The 3 entrances are: the Main Entrance, the West Entrance and the East Entrance. All entrances will be opened to all fans, however we recommend fans of the home to enter through the West Entrance, and fans of the Visiting side to enter throught the East entrance. Dalimbar vs Arifiyyah: The game for 3rd place between Dalimbar and Arifiyyah will take place in the Istadio Gral. Tavarra Dipartí, in the city of Vynitiná, home of the Diportivo Unido di Vynitiná and with a capacity of 67,745 spectators, the complex is a bit old, but for the world cup it received a new paint job and its ready to receive the teams that will battle it out to take home the Bronze. The stadium isn't located near many hotels and public spaces, but its well connected to the city center through public transport and the metro; like in the Rivalda's case temporary bus routes have been set to shuffle passangers to the stadium for the game. Like in the Rivalda, food and drinks can be found in stands outside the stadium or with vendors, as well as this it has functional facilities, and a nearby parking lot. For this game around 2/3 of the stadium's capacity has been reserved for Ariffiyah fans due to the proximity factor, the ammount of Ariffiyah supporters is expected to be quite high, if the Dalimbari fans dont fill the other seats, extra capacity will be available. The Dipartí is divided into 4 stands: Arvailas, Caraviallas, Gral. Divirca and Fortín. Fortín and Caraviallas are smaller stands with only one level, whilst the other two are bigger in comparison having more floors and capacity for more spectators, fences to separate fans are in the stadium, but for this game its most likley they wont be used; however we still recommend to not wander off your assigned area once the game starts. The stadium has 3 Entrances, one in the north, one in the south and one on the west side, Dalimbar supporters will enter through the west Entrance, Arifiyyah supporters through the south entrance, while the North entrance will be open for supporters of both sides. The Rules For a successful and peaceful games to take place, there have to be rules most focused around what you can and cannot bring into the stadiums, for this we have divided items into allowed and not allowed in the next segment: ALLOWED: Flags. Banners. Bevarages Contained in plastic bottles. Food and Snacks. Musical Instruments NOT ALLOWED: Pets. Weapons or Sharp Objects. Drones. Lasers. Microphones or Loudspeakers. Glass Bottles. Smoke Bombs or Flares. The Schedule: (only applies to the Gold Medal Match) Before the game, people will be expected to get to their assigned locations and seats. And hour before the game, a band from the ryxtylopian military will show up, to perform local music, as well as this brief exposees of culture will happen to entretain guests. Right before the game both teams will walk into the pitch, this will be followed by the playing of the National Anthem of the Ryxtylopian Federation, as well as the anthems of both the participating teams. After this the game will start and is expected to last around 95 minutes, with the present possibility of extra time being added, or even going to penalties. After the game a stage will be set for the winning team within the pitch, the awards ceremony will begin before the winning team takes up stage and lifts the trophy. Finally a fireworks display will take place at the stadium. Theese events will mark the official end of the tournament. Those are the recommendations we give to everybody with the intent of attending the game to follow, this game will be one of the games of the century, and we expect both teams to give it their best and to give us their best moments to remember and hopefully remember this world cup as one of - if not the best edition of the tournament to ever happen!
  12. Going past 16' For the round of 16, Ryxtylopia would be facing off against Dalimbar, a nation that had gone 4th place in group D only winning one match, whilst bearly edging out Libterraria on points, the odds for the Vultures on that regard looked good, since they had gone unbeaten during the groups despite not winning all their matches. As well as this the ambience for the opposing team would be... hostile to say the least, as fans of Ryxtylopia wanted the team to go on to the next round, instead of exiting the tournament in the round of 16 like in the previous year, where after extra time Ryxtylopia lost to eventual 3rd place winner: Cambria. However for the players this would also mean a bit more pressure, as if Ryxtylopia exited on the Round of 16 at home it would be a national embarrasment and attacks towards the team lead by Garravez as well as the Dalimbari players could be expected, incidents withing Ryxtylopian football happened often with some of the more infamous moments being: The "I can't hear you!" Incident: Happened in 1401, during a game between Rio Priava and Bixas, when Bixas defeated Priava at home 5-1, it was then to celebrate the 5th goal that their striker Tarvo Giaxva put both of his hands in his hears, as mockery to the boo's from the crowd, this caused Priava supporters to invade the pitch, which had the match suspended and ended early. The "Upside down U" Incident: Happened in 1399, in a game between rivals Ystiandes di Ryxtylopia and the University of Ryxenia, Ystiandes had recently beat the U. of Ryxenia 3-2 in a very intense game, and for their next match during the season, fans from Ystiandes hung a very big banner with an upside down U under their drawn mascot, this ended with the internal barriers in the Istadio Carrasoco being broken and a huge brawl ensuing leaving over 30 injured, with the game being cancelled. Libre after relegation: In 1401, Club Atletico Libre got relegated, by the time they got back to the first division in the following season they would face rivals Diportiva Tsalapaní, in a game that resulted in pure chaos at the Istadio Lybirtad, where Tsalapaní supporters brought a huge banner reading: "RED! Tell me how did it feel playing in the B?" whilst chanting and mocking the local crowd, which ended in a brawl between both sides, injuring around 50 people. The Brivas Bar Affair: Again involving Bixas and Priava was an affair at a bar in Ryxenia in 1414, where Bixas supporters often gathered to cheer for their team, however after Priava won the game 2-1' their supporters marched to the bar, and started smashing the windows with rocks, attacking Bixas supporters leaving the place, this eventually resulted in police intervention with around 16 injuries. "Bixas you're a ________": In 1415 during a game between Bixas and Priava, striker Ernysto Guivillana scored a late winner for Priava in the 90th +2nd minute, after which while being interviewed by press he shouted a slur directed towards Bixas fans, this inmediatley got him banned for several months, and the next day his house was raided and trashed by Bixas supporters. Ernysto would be forced to move out of Ryxtylopia due to the hate, whilst Priava supporters will continually back his actions. The "B" incident: In 1404, Rio Priava dropped for the first time to the second division of Ryxtylopian football, this caused their fans to riot and set fire to the Istadio Franco Rivalda, probably one of the most iconic moments in sporting in this corner of the continent, the next time they saw Bixas in the first division, Bixas supporters prepared to emulate Tsalapaní's mockery of Libre after their relegation, bringing a giant B to the game in the Istadio Arvaldí N. Guivarra, and singing a chant about Priava's time in the "B". All theese incidents were only made worst by "Bands" (basically ultras for ryxtylopian clubs) who harrassed, attacked and mocked eachother to death, part of the reason why Ryxtylopian supporters reffer to themselves as just "The Band" is cause when the national team plays, most of theese rivalries and differences are set aside as all supporters for once head to the stadium wearing the same color and singing the same chants, which was a problem considering many of theese supporters were also known for arousing crowds and being violent. Due to this, security for the match had already been massivley ramped up, and the players told to expect violence, not only the Ryxtylopians but also this was warned to the Dalimbari players in advance. Meanwhile the team got ready, Garravez decided on the 4-1-3-2 formation, to better handle Dalimbari attacks and hopefully make swift counter-attacks, the players agreed with this for the most part, the lineup could soak up dalimbari pressure on the back and quickly move the ball to the forwards for an attack. However the players arrived early at the stadium, and trained, pressure to win the match would be unbelivably high, and whilst the chanting of the crowds could maybe scare the Dalimbaris, if the game was lost the team expected for all out anger to break out. And as the team arrived to the stadium before the game the hostility in the air was made clear by the crowd outside singing: We have the banners and the drums. We have the the banners and the drums: Aquxi i una guirrxa, aquxi i una guirrxa. Y Ryxtylopia sira primeria. Tynimvos las bandyras, y lo bombxos tambxién. Yl Azuil i Amairillo vai volair otrxa vez. La polixia tonta nai nos vai a detixner. Ryxtylopia si pripara i nai va a ditiner. Por qui in iste campó: Ryxtylopia vai a la guerra con la bandá tambxién. Aquxi i una guirrxa, aquxi i una guirrxa. Y Ryxtylopia sira primeria. Tynimvos las bandyras, y lo bombxos tambxién. Yl Azuil i Amairillo vai volair otrxa vez. La polixia tonta nai nos vai a detixner. Ryxtylopia si pripara i nai va a ditiner. Por qui in iste campó: Ryxtylopia vai a la guerra con la bandá tambxién. Here there’s a war, here there’s a war. And Ryxtylopia will be first. We have the banners and the drums. And the Blue and Yellow will fly again. The dumb police won’t stop us. Ryxtylopia gets ready, and its not going to stop. Because in this field: Ryxtylopia goes to war and the band goes aswell.

  14. '24 27th of November 1423, Ryxenia, Oraiva Road, 11:00 A.M. - 7:00 P.M. It was a cloudy day when the demonstrations begun, between the start of the tournament, the goal was to reach the Istadio Franco Rivalda, most protesters kept silent, and most signs could only read the number 24, the reason was to protest the 24 high-profile reporters and journalists that had gone missing before the tournament had even begun, considering it had been 10 days since it had begun the protesters reasoned it would be symbolic enough. Many others mainly hidden amongst the crowd however prepared lazers, improvised shields, and proyectiles with their goals being totally different as it was obvious that this demonstration would as per usual be met by police. By now demonstrations had died down as they had little effect and the tournament was well on its way now, its not like they would change anything and only result in more injuries, but within the crowds of actually peaceful demonstrators many carried improvised weapons, and other stuff to take their anger out on the police, some may have also brought illegal weapons to the fray, but by the time the inevitable clash happened it couldn't be confirmed. It started like most of the other protests with demonstrators going down a road and after a bit encountering a police barricade, with the police either stopping them or ordering them to disperse, in this case the column just stopped, whilst the police couldn't disperse them with their low numbers at the time. Stuff started to intensify about 2 hours later when police had pebbles, bottles and other stuff thrown at them, whilst at the same time getting reinforced by more officers and riot-controll vehicles, around 4-5 hours after the start, and with protesters now throwing more lethile proyectiles and the confrontation heating up. Police started to respond with pepper spray, and paint guns, at this point most of the peaceful demonstrators had dispersed leaving an angry crowd and the police, until a loud BANG was heard around 4:41 P.M. Police thought this was a gun shot and responded with their own fire, not directed at the crowd but to disperse it, this caused panic amongst the demonstrators who rushed down the street with the last molotov coctails thrown at police around this time. The stampede left around 70 injured, and around 15 in critical condition, by the end of the day deaths had not been reported and the last protesters dispersed by the end of the day, marking an unfortunate end to the wave of world cup protests that had gone throught Ryxtylopia since the tournament was announced. 28th of November 1423, Ryxenia, Oraiva Road, 8:00 A.M. Police and cleaning staff worked on cleaning up the road early in the morning, as more reports went to the Department of Internal Security, and they didn't look good, however considering the protests had been dying down it seemed like this would be the last one, several officers had been injured, many with burns or bruises. However due to the confrontation happening, not in the outskirts of the city but in one of the roads leading to the largest of the venues for the world cup, the Ryxtylopian government began preparing for a possible media storm ahead.
  15. Cleared it Out The Ryxtylopian team prepared for their final group stage match, so far they were first in the group, and a win would ensure staying on top, as they hadn't gone defeated throught the group stage, their final rival of the groups was Rivalfiume in the Istadio Zapriaca, and if Garravez team held on to the first place spot they would be going up against the 4th placed team in group D, which could be either Dalimbar or Aukera. Garravez was busy, he so far had a lot of success but some matches that could've also gone better, mainly the opener against Kalmach and the close match with Alchera that the team had in the previous matchday. As well as this Garravez was still missing Dipartí, who had asked to stay with his mother while she recovered from injuries, meaning Dipartí would potentially miss the next matches or the tournament as a whole, whilst Garravez did have options to replace him he still thought about the protests that caused the whole thing, which had calmed down except for some mainly the 24' movement which was a social movement asking for justice for the 24 journalists gone missing between the world cup got announced in Ryxtylopia and MD1. Going missing in Ryxtylopia is a term used by the government a lot, and whilst it might sound like someone had gone missing, it was frecuently used to indicate arrest without charges or a warrant by the police, during the Ryxtylopian dictatorship in the 1380's it usually meant someone had been executed again, without charges, the meaning evolved after the fact with Ryxtylopia democratizing but remaining a fairly corrupt authoritarian state. But for now his focus had to be on the upcomming match where he decided to go back to the 3-5-2 formation the team had used at the start of the tournament, after all the protest movements were something else, he had to focus on the match.
  16. Steady and Secure The Ryxtylopia-Overthinkers match was the most intense one yet, probably in all the world cup, while it ended in a draw it saw several intense moments, as the hosts and the leaders of the group clashed, in the end the match ended with a draw. The match started with Ryxtylopia kicking off, and playing rather cautiously at the start, no advances were made as posession was kept in the first 3 minutes before loosing the ball. In the 15th minute Milatacha slide tackled one of the OT players, being too uncautious he earned himself a yellow card conceding a free kick for OT, whoose team was able to take advantage of the free kick and getting the ball into the Box, where an attempt towards goal was made, however, Rivas got and blocked the attempt (An attempt Arvaldí would've probably not been able to block due to the heading) allowing the defense to clear the ball. For the 24th minute Ryxtylopia made their first shot towards goal, after Farris passed to Fydó around 3/4 of the field, Fydó however got stuck in OT's defense allowing more players to advance and once he attempted to cross to Vilaní the ball was intercepted. In the 33rd minute Ryxtylopia managed another attempt at goal, however Overthinkers team was adapted towards playing defensivley making the Ryxtylopian's team strategy of counter-attacking sorta akward to carry out, and in something that became a common occurance in this match OT's defense absorbed the attack. Finally in the first time in the 40th minute Ryxtylopia made a final attempt at goal, this time a cross from Arvaléz that Vilaní actually headed... into the post, the ball bounced off harmlessly and it was cleared, after another fight for possetion in and around the midfield, the ref blew the whilstle with the score still 0-0. During the break, a brief chant battle happened in the stands between the Ryxtylopians and the Overthinkers, both separated into zones by a fence, as both fans chanted about how one or the other was better, some throwing stuff over the fence, having an advantage in numbers the Ryxtylopian chants were more audible however this moment was still something pretty funny that happened during HT. However it was now time for the second time to commence, it was more intense than the first, with the "battle for the midfield" in full swing, both sides gaining and loosing possetion, this continued for some time. Ryxtylopia made a shot on goal on the 67th minute but it was deflected by OT's GK, and the match continued on as normal, however this wouldn't last long. In the 70th minute, Ryxtylopia made another attack, however they lost possetion in the box, and here the Ovethinkers team was able to pull a really successful counter attack, passing the ball all the way into Ryxtylopia's box, were when Vilaña tried clearing it he slipped and Arvaldí's gloves went short of the ball, which landed in the net making the score 1-0 in favor of Overthinkers. With the crowd going silent, OT's team felt much safer with the one nil lead, and began to be slightly less defensive searching for another goal, however in the 74th minute they would miss a chance as it went over the top post. Ryxtylopia would respond not long after, when Farris got into the box, and shot, having his attempt blocked and OT's defense pushed back, however it was here when substitute Terado Armandí, (who had taken Vilanís position) retook possetion and was left alone against OT's GK, successfully sending the ball into the net to a sea of celebration. After this both sides went defensive as the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
  17. The "Band" is here! 5 Chants to look out for in the Ryxtylopia-Overthinkers match! The "Band" is Ryxtylopia's supporter base, clubs in Ryxtylopia have their own "Bands" but all of theese come togheter when the nation plays, this can create a vibrant and exciting atmosphere, ocationally the ammount of singing can intimidate opponents, with some stadiums shaking after goal celebrations, however the band is probably most known for their chants. 18. Readying Up It was the third day of the world cup, and Ryxtylopia would face off against the current lead of Group A - Overthinkers, who had won the previous two matches and led the group with 6 points, Ryxtylopia comming in second place with 4, Kalmach trailing in third with 2... In theory the toughest match was against Larxia, but the Vultures got through that match, and studying the opponent side, they played a bit more defensivley than others, so perhaps more enphasis on the backline would be necessary to minimize any mistakes that could lead to disaster. Mid-Day, Tsalapaní, Istadio Ciudad Tsalapaní The Vultures arrived early opening the stadium early for a few fans to watch them train, they wanted to be ready for the match, as well as this Garravez considered taking some of the less experienced players off for more experience, that would be needed in this match, mainly in defending, as he intended to use one of the lineups with 4 defenses. He thought and eventually settled on the 4-1-3-2, it would be similar to the Larxia match but it would have more offensive power, whilst retaining the 4 players on the backline, as Garravez altered the backline, switching a few players on and off: 🔽 Ernysto Guivéz, No. 5, Age 23. 🔼 Ravaido Hiltica, No. 2, Age 28. 🔽 Rauíl Dipartí, No. 7, Age 29. 🔼 Franco Lividarra, No. 19, Age 30. As he did this the players trained, Arvaldí practiced dealing with free kicks, Vilaña and Rivas practiced their handling with Larista and Milatachá, Arvaléz his passes, and Vilaní and Fydó took turns making shots at Arvaldí, all seemed fine as the recently subbed off Guivéz and Dipartí headed to the bench, they had been subbed off for players in the reserve and hadn't been put on the bench so they would have to watch the match either in the stadium or at home, which wasn't bad it gave both players time to rest, and to sit and have a chat. [Guivéz]: Glad this cup was here, the good thing about being the host is that you're usually the favorite to win, i think Garravez is doing a good job with the team. [Dipartí]: Im glad ill get to see my mother, she's at the hospital. [Guivéz]: Oh dear, what happened to her? You didn't tell me. [Dipartí]: Well she was going home from shopping as usual, and she had to cross a street, unfortunatley it had turned into a warzone since we live next to Trivixas, and whilst crossing she got hit by something, knocking her down on the street, im pretty worried for her. [Guivéz]: Oh no, hope she's ok... [Dipartí]: She's an old lady, but i love her very much, also she's been through riots before in her younger years, its not the first time something like this has happened to her, but this incident that happened with an old lady makes me question if this world cup is really worth all the trouble its brung. [Guivéz]: Trouble? [Dipartí]: Oh right, you probably only heard a rumor about the stuff, but its been pretty bad, Trivixas went up in flames with riots a few days back since people are angry at the tournament even happening here. As the two chatted, fellow player Enrico Jilian joined on the conversation. [Jilian]: Hope i dont interrupt to much but i did also hear of the riots, my older brother who works in Vynitiná told me he got his car pebbled during one. [Guivéz]: Oh shoot, hope he's ok. [Jilian]: He's fine, it was parked while he was on a dentist visit. [Dipartí]: Well great, so the state doesn't know what to do and they're not telling us. [Jilian]: They are not allowing reporters to report on the situation. [Dipartí]: I know, i know, old news move o- [Guivéz]: Wait what, i didn't know about this. (Take into account Guivéz plays in another nation's league, meaning he lives abroad) [Dipartí]: Oh right you dont live here, but i think its still pretty common knowledge to most of us. [Guivéz]: Well, we never owned a tv or radio in my younger years and my dad was too busy chopping down trees to read the news, i had to help him a lot or found myself playing soccer, before getting into the local league and getting snatched by a team at 17, moving abroad not long after. [Jilian]: Huh, interesting story. [Dipartí]: Well its something the state has been doing for a while now. [Guivéz]: Oh... [Dipartí]: Yeah, well ill need to get ready to catch a bus back to Ryxenia, it isn't far away from here, i just came to see if Garravez picked me for the match, but since not i need to see my mother, hopefully ill see you two back on the pitch sooner or later. [Jilian and Guivéz]: Bye Dipartí! Hope your mother is ok. [Jilian]: Well, im pretty worried by the situation, but i need to get to training; Garravez told me he'll most likley sub me on after half-time. [Guivéz]: Alright, ill stay here for the match! As Jilian left Guivéz thought that leaving Ryxtylopia might have been for the best, but he still wondered why was it this way, not having an understanding of politics back home after several years of being away didn't help, especially considering he had dropped out of school after elementary to help his father with work after his uncle passed away from an infection, result of an accident during work. He continued thinking as after a while of training Garravez called everybody back to the whiteboard he had on the side of the pitch to talk about strategy for the OT game, despite not going to play in the game Guivéz still went to watch the team talk. [Garravez]: Alright, not much to say here, same strategy as last time, just that this time with a bit more of attack, Farris you support Fydó and Vilaní, Larista you bring the ball up, everybody else stays in the area, tho if possible i want you Milatacha and Arvaléz to accompany Fydó and Vilaní up to roughly three quarters of the pitch, so you can cover their backs in case they need more passing options. [Garravez]: Am i understood? Everybody nodded. [Garravez]: We are the locals, we'll have the band cheering for us, if that doesn't intimidate the opponents enough we'll still them a good run for their money, Ryxtylopia doesn't GIVE UP AND RYXTYLOPIA WILL WIN THE MATCH, WE'RE GOING FOR FIRST IN THE GROUP! ADILENTÍ RYXTYLOPIA! There's a cheer in the players and the few people watching from the stands, as everybody heads back to train, whilst Guivéz packed and left the stadium, still thinking about what Dipartí and Jilian had told him.
  19. A Good Day. Whilst the Istadio Zapriaca wasn't even a third of the size as the Rivalda, people still packed into it, and its speculated that the stadium was filled over-capacity for the match between Ryxtylopia and Larxia, the atmosphere in the relativley small stadium was comparable with the one in the much larger Rivalda, with the Ryxtylopian fans singing and shouting during the match including when the Larxians arrived. Maybe it was this atmosphere that intimidated the Larxian players, or maybe it encouraged the players enough, or maybe Garravez plan worked out as the two layers of defense was able to absorb most of the Larxian attacks before swiftly hurrying to counter. After the national anthems played in the Zapriaca, the match started at kick off, with the Vultures almost inmediatley loosing the ball but regaining it in the midfield, despite this the first few attacks were subpar, the first shot towards goal of the match was made by Ryxtylopia in the 9th minute however it was a long shot that straved off the larxian goalpost. Soon the larxians got their chance not long after in the 16th minute, however pressure from the backline forced the shot straight into the arms of GK Franco Arvaldí, not causing much harm. The chanting intensified and after an intense battle mostly in the midfield the first time ended, people went for their refreshments, the players from both sides went to rest, the Larxian presence in the stadium was small, all concentrated in one area separated from the rest, however it was still there both sides cheered and wait. Soon the second time started, Larxia kicked off, and their players were able to get the ball into the box by the first minute, but the defense was able to repel their attack, quickly passing the ball forward for a counter-attack; the ball reached Fydó, but the flag went up, offside. The larxians attempted another shot at the 60th minute, and shot at goal, but Franco was able to deflect the shot over the post, resulting in a corner-kick for Larxia, which they failed, as Rivas passed to Larista; Larista to Farris who took it near the larxian box, evading the defense and then crossed it to Fydó who achieved the goal in the 60th minute, opening the scoreboard 1-0 in favor of the hosts. However the larxians didn't give up despite mockery from the ryxtylopian fans, and in the 68th minute they crossed the ball into the box, where they made a shot to goal, it was blocked by Franco but in the bounce the defense failed to clear it resulting in a larxian goal in the 68th minute. The stadium fell silent for a bit, and the game carried on, Larxia had another attempt at the 72nd minute but the shot was blocked by Franco, while Ryxtylopia failed a cross in the 79th minute, the game being a constant back and forth. This ended in the 85th minute however when Fydó managed getting through Larxia's defense and made a shot that went straight into the post, bouncing off to one of Larxia's defenders who failed to clear the ball loosing it to Farris who made a second shot that bounced off Larxia's GK, unfortunatley for the larxians the subsecuent bounce made it to the head of Arvaléz who headed it in for the 2-1, as the stadium once again errupted in celebration. The last attempt at goal of the game was made by Larxia after a free kick in the 90th+1 minute, but the shot bounced off the arch and into the back, after this the game ended as the crowd went crazy 2-1 in favor of the Vultures, and the band went crazy after Ryxtylopia's first win in its world cup and revenge against a nation that had humiliated them before.
  20. A familiar foe For the second time in a world cup, Ryxtylopia would face off against Larxia in the group stage, a pretty good country in the football world, as they had made the final on the first edition of the tournament, and in the second edition had made the quarter finals, in both instances loosing to the champion of both tournaments: Nieubasria. Last time the Ryxtylopians played against the Larxians it didn't go well, with the Vultures conceding 4 goals, and nearly getting knocked out of the group being saved by a goal from, now former player Fylas Mataña, who was able to bring the goal difference to a point were Ryxtylopia narrowly edged over Saint Mark and secured a spot in the round of 16, where the Vultures would get knocked out of the tournament in H&J by the Cambrians. However a lot of the old team was gone now, and despite drawing with Kalmach last match the Vultures had reason to be confident, they were playing at home after all and they would have the support of the crowd, Ryxtylopia's supporter base also known simply as: "The Band", which has been pretty loud in the Kalmach game. The team talk started, with coach, Marco Garraves speaking: [Marco]: Alright boys, we're going to go a bit more defensive now, i want you to give it your best, cause we're at home, the Vulture's in its nest, we'll be using the 4-1-4-1. Marco does some drawing on the whiteboard. [Marco]: Fydó i want you up front for a counter-attack, while everybody else will form up in lines, Dipartí, you go to the backline, and Larista i want you as a CDM, you'll be the one responsible for handling the ball in our counter attacks. [Marco]: Everybody else in the midfield i want you to both attack and defend, but focus on keeping possesion, Larxia has really good players so we need time to plan out our attacks, Fydó can score goals but he needs support and the backline will count on you to aid with defending. [Marco]: Messy worries me a lot, he's not too old yet, and not too young meaning he has experience and physical skill, i want you all to focus on keeping the ball away from him as much as you can... Aviero also worries me and they do have a strong defense, i think our greatest defensive and offensive tool will be the midfield... Marco exhales. [Marco]: Alright, same lineup as yesterday tho i might bring some of you off and on... [Marco]: Farris and Arvaléz, i want you to go forward with Fydó in case of an attack, Milatacha and Vilaní, you two stay behind Farris and Arvaléz, in case we loose posetion, i want you two to buy us time as well as Larista. [Marco]: Also for the 4 of you in the back, dont overextend, Larista will take care of passing to our midfields and Fydó, are we all in agreement with this? The players nod, and prepare themselves for the match. Outside of the stadium, the ryxtylopian fans began singing a chant directed to the Larxians arriving at the stadium, presiceley called: "Larxia's Band". Llaigo la bandá di Larxia, miré que poicos son! Probable qui si vinieron e un microbus! Ryxtylopia ni se rinde y vai aguaintar. Ryxtylopia vai a absorbir sus atiques y contistxar. In Herfortdía perdíme duro. Y los jugadories si hixieron burro. Así mi guste, quirida bandá. Fimando Hyrba i Bisxfando Coca - Anda! Larxia’s band arrived, look how few there are! They probably arrived on a microbus! Ryxtylopia doesn’t give up and they’re going to hold. Ryxtylopia will absorb their attacks and they will respond. In Hertfordia we lost hard. And the players turned to donkeys. But i like it that way, beloved band. Smoking weed and snorting coke - Lets go! More than 100 people chanted the song as the Larxian fans and eventually their players arrived at the stadium, after the 4-1 loss to Hertfordia something was awfully clear, "The Band" was seeking the Vulture's revenge and the atmosphere would be rather heated for this match.
  21. The Response 10:08 hrs, Ryxtylopian Time (Auran Standard Time IAT-1) Guilchabó, chief of the department of security awaited silently the report in his office, luckily for him the situation with the protests was dying down, and only a few press outlets had even reported on the situation, however the damage to the people had already been done, with hundreds being hospitalized, and that was in Ryxenia alone, many other cities had the unrest spread to them, however the quick actions of security forces had dispersed most crowds that were able to assemble, besides it was a match day; Ryxtylopia would face Larxia, a tough opponent today, that meant many people would be distracted gathering in the stadiums, and public places to watch the match. But that wasn't to say the unrest had stopped, also whilst domestically the press was under control, there was still uncertanty about the international response to the situation, the goverment had to at least SAY something, since silence would probably only turn it worse, as people would seek their own responses. Gilchabó had already ordered the police to not let foreign press into the areas with unrest or the poorer part of towns, telling the men on the ground to: "If necessary drag them back into the stadiums where they should be." that could be bad but would prevent more coverage on the protests, the biggest concern of the government being the protesters gaining sympathy abroad, that could end in a more globe-wide movement against the state something Gilchabó didn't want to risk considering his job, and more importantly; his salary could be on the line. However as he thought, an assistant knocked on the door of his office, to hand over a printed report of injuries: CITY Reported Incidents Civilian Casualties Police Casalties Ryxenia 34 476 Confirmed Injuries >200(?) Unconfirmed Cases 2(?) Fatalities 47 Injuries Vynitiná 14 190 Confirmed Injuries ~200-300(?) Unconfirmed Injuries 33 Injuries Pinilaca 10 78 Confirmed Injuries ~150 Unconfirmed Injuries 17 Confirmed Injuries ~10 Unconfirmed Injuries Tilipaca 7 56 Confirmed Injuries ~76-110(?) Unconfirmed Injuries 22 Injuries Tsalapaní 3 17 Confirmed Injuries ~40 Unconfirmed Injuries 4 Confirmed Injuries ~4 Unconfirmed Injuries After giving the report a good read, Gilchabó heads to his computer an old one on his desk, and sends an email to his assistant to get ready to publish a statement on the matter, not on behalf of the Department of Security, but on behalf of the goverment, marking the email as urgent, and hoping for the bureocratic process to not be too long. Roughly 4 hours later... 14:18 hrs, Ryxtylopian Time (Auran Standard Time IAT-1) Gobyrno di la Fidiraxión di Ryxtylopia Government of the Ryxtylopian Federation Present - Sunday, November 19th of the year 1423. This is an OFFICIAL STATEMENT, conducted by the Ryxtylopian government, directed to all foreign governments and international press. This document is designed to recognize the events that have ocurred throught the last week (12th to 19th of November of the year 1423), said events being civil unrest throught the nation focusing on the capital; Ryxenia, and other major cities including: Vynitiná Pinilaca Tilipaca Tsalapaní Said unrest has been caused due to the realization of the III World Cup of Football, an event that in the year 1423 is being held in Ryxtylopia, this event had stirred unrest from the populace due to Political Reasons, and agitators have spread the unrest throught the country, putting at risk not only the integrity of the Ryxtylopian state but the integrity of the tournament and foreign lives in Ryxtylopia. Therefore we ask foreigners to be careful and read information about the situation via statements like this or by visiting the government website: [Insert Generic Government Website.gov]. The government of the Ryxtylopian Federation, as well as internal state organisms mainly, the Department of Internal Security, are doing efforts to controll the unrest and prevent casualties due to the incitation of violence by opposition figures and other "troublemakers". To prevent the spreading of violence to other areas we STRONGLY RECOMMEND foreign media outlets, as well as state-owned outlets to NOT REPORT ON THE SITUATION as this may only incite further violence, and could result in further casualties. As per casualties - There have been a reported 70 civilian injuries and 25 police injuries. To our knowledge, no foreigners, including tourists press, etc, have been injured, and the police response has been ADEQUATE, when it comes to the CONTAINMENT of the unrest. Protesters and Rioters have STARTED the crisis by using extreme violence against the police and security forces present at the start of the unrest forcing further measures to be taken to ensure the safetey of other civilians. We assure everybody, this situation is under controll, and the Department of Internal Security is doing everything in its power to contain the unrest which at the present day is on the decline, we've already made recommendations to foreigners and media within this document but for more info please visit: [Insert Generic Government Website.gov]. The response was perhaps not what many would have liked... it massivley understated the ammount of casualties, and didn't address the cases of missing people, but to Gilchabó it was good enough, as the missing cases could be written off as "normal" by the government, and if they stated the real ammount of casualties it would have only multiplied the unrest. Gilchabó had already a pretty busy day after the president parted for the airport to catch a short flight on his private Jet to Pinilaca were once at the airport he had been received by an angry crowd. For now the response would do, after all with the second day of matches about to start, public attention would be elsewhere...
  22. The Dark After the first few days since the tournament started, the protests that had marked the day before the start and the ones that happened on the first day had calmed down, as since the tournament had already started there wasn’t much point in protesting especially considering the police response was a bit harsh (by ryxtylopian standards). No domestic media outlet had reported on the protests yet, only passing it off as “minor unrest in Ryxenia” and this unrest had only spread to a few other cities, were riots hadn’t happened. However it wasn’t all sunshine and roses, many media outlets had been speculated of taking bribes not to report on the situation, or in some cases, been intimidated to not report on the situation by the police and internal security apparatus, the police in Ryxtylopia is widley hated, and so any story about it usually reaches front pages in local news, due to this the government had acted preemptively to stop any stories from going through, at least domestically. On the international stage it was a different story however, many foreigners had taken notice of the unrest with some even wandering off into it, which was not good in terms of the image of the nation, due to this the police often did their best, or rather worst when it came to intimidating foreign press to not go into the slums and report about the unrest, at least while containment efforts were still ongoing. 4 Well-known reporters in Ryxtylopia had gone missing in the week during and leading up to the tournament: Taxia Divas Isadro Guivarra Arturo Dipartí Rascanda Ivarradí As well as this around another 50 to a possible 89 lower profile reporters had gone missing, as well as protest leaders, known agitators, union leaders and even low-profile political figures, and innocent people, it wasn't the people going missing that was the problem, it was their profiles, activities they had been involved in, political or social influence and something most of them shared in common was dissaproval of the tournament. Reporters going missing in Ryxtylopia was nothing new, however 4 of the most well known critics of the government going missing in a short period, people with pretty big influence in the opposition media, that wasn’t a very good sign, and it was just a matter of time before more people took notice of the matter, but with still so many days to go before the tournament ended, the police presence remained the same, and detentions went up by approximatley 50-75% in some areas. However the tournament had to go on, and efforts to prevent foreign media reporting on the unrest had been sorta successful, as no *MAJOR* stories about the civil rights abuses had made it into the global headlines yet, which was a good thing for an authoritarian, oligarchic country trying to portray itself as a functional democracy on the global stage.
  23. The end of day 1 People packed into the Rivalda, practically filling up to capacity for the game between Ryxtylopia and Kalmach, “the colossus” preparing to see Ryxtylopia’s first match at home. As per usual with matches involving Ryxtylopia, fans of both teams weren’t allowed to sit in the same areas, the stadium was subdivided, and most of these subdivisions went to Ryxtylopia considering they would have most of the guests, with removable metal fences separating both sides and each subdivision to prevent fights from breaking out. After both national anthems played, the locals kicked off, starting off slightly cautiously, but after a gap opened up in the opponent's defense the ryxtylopian players took to attacking, with a pass from M. Larista reaching A. Fydó who was able to send the ball cleanly into the right side of Kalmach’s goal in the 2nd minute, as the Rivalda exploded with the word “GOOOOOOOOOL!” That meant Ryxtylopia was 1 up in the 2nd minute, expectations were high however from here as the kalmachians kicked off the game lost momentum, and it became both sides constantly fighting for the ball, with the ryxtylopians attempting to get the kalmachians to make a mistake to be able to attack, while their opponents put pressure on the midfield without being able to get into the backline. In the 37th minute, Fydó got a pass from R. Dipartí taking the ball all the way into the box, where he attempted to shoot but the ball went over the post. Just before break in the 44th minute, Fydó took the ball and tried finding someone to head it in, he passed it to Larista in the box, but Larista missed the header, the ball heading for M. Vilaní who was unprepared for the ball, expecting a bounce; Vilaní shot with his weak foot, sending the ball on a low angle to be easily catched by Kalmach’s GK, Meikal Schkridt. After 2 minutes of added time, the whistle blew signaling half time as both sides headed to rest, and fans headed for more snacks and replenishments. For the second time it mostly remained the same, however after some changes Kalmach was able to get back on the game, as ryxtylopia made fewer attempts on goal, the last one being a long shot N. Farris on the 54th minute that got easily intercepted by Schkridt. On the 67th minute however after several attempts to get through the midfield Kalmach was able to exploit a missed pass by P. Arvaléz and get through into the backline, where E. Rivas failed a slide tackle and E. Vilaña was too slow to respond, as the ball went and bounced off the post into the net on top of Franco Arvaldí’s Head, at the 67th minute. After that the stadium felt silent as the ball once again kicked off, Kalmach immediately going on the attack and getting past the strong Ryxtylopian midfield, however this time around the 70th minute Vilaña intercepted a ball headed for the box and cleared it away. Ryxtylopia had their last chance of the game around the 81rst minute when Vilaní received a good pass from Farris and passed it to Fydó who had his ball blocked by one of the kalmash defenders. Kalmach continued with the pressure until their last chance in the 90+1rst minute during the 3 minutes of stoppage time, when they received a corner kick, but shot to the net but defender E. Guivéz deflected the ball towards the midfield, where the match ended 1-1. Fans left the stadium, the game was sort of intense but many were disappointed by not winning their first game at home, the game exposed however how loud “The Band” was, with the whole Rivalda singing almost in unisense with several songs, as fans stayed right up until the end of the match. From the best known song; Adilentí Ryxtylopia! to Biutre Ródeado, and insults at the federal police, flags and banners everywhere and the fireworks and singing at the start, the match probably had the best atmosphere during that day. But the players didn’t celebrate, as they got ready to train the next day, as their next match would be against a team that beat them 4-1 in the previous competition, almost condemning the last team to fall in the groups, and previous finalists: Larxia.
  24. The Big Day - Fire n’ Fireworks As police cars stood outside and the checkpoints near the Rivalda calmed down from the wave of laser pointers collected, the ceremony finally began at 12:00, with important figures taking place at one of the boxes in the center part of one of the sides of the stadium. The president of the FRF: Hildo Gailavéz stepped up to give a brief speech to a crowd, both Ryxtylopians foreigners and the press. “I welcome everybody to Ryxtylopia, were me and the FRF, in cooperation with the government are proud to announce that after our bid for the III World Cup of Football was accepted we’re happy to receive you all here.” Gailavéz slightly adjusts his tie. “Its of the greatest honors for me the FRF and Ryxtylopia to host this tournament, and the intense work and investments have paid off, we are confident of our nation’s ability to host this tournament and i as well as all the people here hope that this tournament will be remembered as one of the best in the edition for decades to come.” Gailavéz steps down as the crowd start applauding, in time for the president Edyuardo, to step up; a complicated man for sure, wanting to protect the average ryxtylopian whilst selling out the country’s labor, helping big business and allowing foreigners to set up a military presence in Ryxtylopia. Edyuardo started his brief speech to oficially mark the start of the tournament, before the first match between Ryxtylopia and Kalmach would happen in a few hours. The crowd applauds him. “Thank you, thank you, like my fellow compatriot said i'm very proud that my country will get to host this tournament.” Edyuardo pauses for a moment as he read the speech, just as the cameras focused on him to see a green dot, on his face, a laser had gotten through, however this laser was only able to stay focused on his face for less than half a minute as security forces off camera quickly apprehended to perpetrator and took them away. “And now with this, im proud to announce, this 17th of November, of the year 1423 the World Cup of Football in Ryxtylopia, to mark the third edition of the tournament has now officially started!” The crowd applauds and cheers, as bags of balloons are released; the president stays in place as a speaker announces: “Now with accord with the law, we will honor the president of the nation, and all ryxtylopian citizens by playing the national anthem of the Ryxtylopian Federation, followed by the cultural tournament.” The Ryxtylopian national anthem starts playing, most stood respectfully but a group in the crowd whistled and booed during the ordeal, while it wasn’t too loud, it was audible making it sort of an akward moment, for the duration of the anthem. But soon after the anthem stopped, music started playing as the cultural exposition started, with traditional ryxtylopian music playing as dancers went to the pitch to give a brief cultural exposition. This lasted about an hour before it ended, the president gave one final remark: “And I give a cordial welcome to all the foreigners that have decided to travel here to watch the tournament. I and the rest of the ministers hope that you will have a great time here and this will be one of the best tournaments in the history of world football.” The crowds cheered and some booed in the corner as the president stepped down, the fireworks were scheduled after the match with kalmach later in the day, for now he took another route into his limo waiting outside, since with about 4 hours left before the match, he needed to discuss things with Gilchabó, the two parted off from the stadium at 1:14 p.m.
  25. The Big Day - Trouble Brews It was finally the day when the third edition of the Football World Cup would start; after winning the bid, and preparing the stadiums, the top officials of the FRF, and the Ryxtylopian government felt ready to host the tournament, as fans and the national teams started arriving in the country. However, whilst the preparations for the ceremony finished, and police and security elements prepared to open up the Franco Rivalda, in other parts of Ryxenia trouble was already brewing. In the Itsía and Tivirxas neighborhoods some of the poorer in Ryxenia, protests had already started, with a few hundred people gathering in opposition to the tournament, their arguments being that Ryxtylopia has way bigger issues that need to be solved, and that funds directed towards a Football Tournament would just be wasted on something temporary. However, considering the bid had already been accepted, the government wasn’t going to pull out, and with foreign media and reporters already present, the chief of the Department of Internal Security: Vachas Gilchabó, ordered police elements to start moving out into poorer areas of Ryxenia; protesters were suppressed within minutes of the first instances of unrest being reported. In Tivirxas, on the main road, police in riot gear, and armed with rubber bullets, tear gas, and water cannons began clearing protesters from the main street, and working on dispersing the groups, injuries soon began being reported, with the incident at 6:30 p.m. on Hilitpa-Vyriantia Street involving police elements dispersing a crowd resulting in over 30 people injured. Media were told NOT to report on the situation, the reason given was that the protesters were at fault, for being “opponents of the government using the tournament to further their political agendas and instill violence”. By sundown whilst the worst of the unrest had died out, police continued dispersing crowds up until around 10:30 p.m. with checkpoints being built near the poorer areas of Ryxenia to prevent tourists from heading into potential danger and prevent the press from reporting on the situation. Whilst on the General Ibarraia Bridge; an overpass overlooking much of the southern, poorer part of Ryxenia, concrete barriers were put in place to prevent tourists and press from seeing the slums. This tactic was also employed in other parts of town, and extra police elements were placed near slums and poorer areas to deter people from wandering off into said areas. Ryxtylopian social media erupted in flames by the end of the day, while in the media department, no major ryxtylopian news outlets reported on the unrest, somewhat preventing it from spreading at the national level, whilst government officials impatiently awaited the response from global media outlets. By the end of the day, the list of reported incidents reached Gilchabó’s hands: 9:10 hrs: First reported protest in Itsía, around 50-100 people gathered, Indvía street was blocked by the protesters. 9:33 hrs: Second reported protest in Itsía, roughly 100 people took to the Daxivarra park, no disturbances were caused. 9:41 hrs: Police elements start responding to the Indvía street protest, preventing them from heading further down. 10:24 hrs: The First protests in Tivirxas are reported, more than 150 people, police are able to contain the protesters. 10:56: hrs: The first checkpoints are erected, the amount of active protests is around 10 or 11 spread mostly in Itsía and Tivirxas, with a few others in other parts of Ryxenia. 11:16 hrs: The first barriers go up on highways and bridges, to prevent tourists from seeing the slums. 11:29 hrs: The protests in Tivirxas grow in size, with a reported 400 people, estimates bringing the number up to 600 joining the wave of unrest. 11:34 hrs: Clashes between police and protesters start, fire piles are set up separating both groups in several parts of Ryxenia. 11:45 hrs: Gilchabó orders the dispersing of the protests as soon as possible. 11:47 hrs: After receiving equipment, including water cannons, pepper spray and rubber bullets, police start ordering, then forcefully dispersing the protesters in Itsía. 11:53 hrs: In the Rixavais neighboorhood (the closest one to the venues) Police disperse the few protesters present there by mid-day. 12:10 hrs: The government website with info on the tournament is updated, indicating people to avoid certain areas of Ryxenia. 12:24 hrs: In Tivirxas clashes between police and protesters begin with stones, rocks, and trash being thrown. 12:29 hrs: First reported *serious* injury from Tivirxas. 12:30-22:30 hrs: Police work on dispersing protesters in Tivirxas and Itsía. 14:56 hrs: The protest in Tivirxas is reclassified as a Riot by the Department of Internal Security. 19:44 hrs: Itsía is mostly cleared, most protesters either comply, are dispersed or move to the Tivirxas Riots. 22:12 hrs: The Protesters are forced to disperse into the smaller roads clearing the main road in Tivirxas. 22:36 hrs: The operation concludes, reported injuries are still to be accounted for, expected to be over 100 combining both the Tivirxas riot and the Itsía protests. While some details are yet to be cleared, its clear to the goverment, it must try to manage the situation before and during the world cup to prevent the tournament from turning into a disaster.
