Cancotilianzal is loosely based off the Norse societies of the 10th and 11th centuries, but with a lesser focus on violent expansion and raiding, but more on the trade and commercial expansion seen from the recent industrialization movement.  

It is still undergoing rapid transformation into a 'modern' state, but social programs and defense capabilities are equally important to the Duchy. Furthermore, there are small sects of Canca people that wish to return to their violent, raid-filled heritage, as they believe that is the way to attune oneself with the gods.

The Grand Duchy of Cancotilianzal is a newly-formed empire, with roots that extend for centuries. The people of Cancotilianzal come from the early Canca people, who were infamous raiders and pirates across the rocky shores of the West Pacific. Cancotilianzal lies in the south of Doll Guldur, with much of its area containing rocky coastlines, broken only by pristine beaches. The capital city, Almdalir, houses a majority of the population and is located on the western shore of the southern peninsula.

Cancotilianzal has recently experienced a massive developmental growth, after the state began funding scientific innovation. This prompted a boom of industrialization of the wool farming industry, which is one of Cancotilianzal's main exports. Citizens enjoy extreme civil rights, and have influence on most, if not every aspect of governance. Although the citizens have the right to vote for government officials, the Duke remains the sole executive figure, as it was he who has ushered in this age of prosperity for Cancotilianzal. While sheep are admired due to the wool industry, the Cancotilianzal culture shows specific reverence to the fox and its cunning, and it has become the signet of the family of the Duke.
