  1. Here is your now every other daily EPS News. We are very sorry for the lack of the newspaper yesterday. We have decided to change the publication to every other day so there is more content to the newspaper.

First up, your weather for tomorrow and Sunday. Expect a partly cloudy day with a high of 87 and a low of 67, with only a 20% chance of rain. On Sunday it will be slightly hotter partly cloudy day, with a high of 92 and a low of 68.

    Next, some resolved issues:

People rejoiced at the opening of a new tunnel between us and a neighbor, but they drive on the other side of the road, which caused an increase in accidents at the border. Government officials decided to increase the amount of signage to let foreign drivers know which side to drive on.

A local mayor drank an entire years supply of ale in just two months, which angered taxpayers that have to support these habits. The government decided to instead purchase ale for everyone in parliament.

A large queue formed at the washroom at a concert, and eventually police were called in to take care of the fighting between female patrons. The government decided to do nothing about it.

After a 7-time sport champion of The Eastern Pennsylvanian State was accused of doping, the government decided to loosen drug testing laws, allowing for more drugged up athletes to compete.

An uproar was caused by conversion therapy centers popping up around The Eastern Pennsylvanian State. The government decided to allow these centers to stay open, but only for consenting adults. No children are allowed these treatments.

  2. Here is your Daily EPS News for today. Sorry about the lack of a newspaper the past days, the printers were acting up.

First up. your weather. It will be an ugly day tomorrow, with an 80% chance of thunderstorms, and a high of 86 and a low of 70.

    Next, are some resolved issues:

A popular singer sang a controversial song at a prison concert, leading the prisoners to become rowdy and rioting to start. This started a wave of riots all across the prisons in The Eastern  Pennsylvanian State. Instead of giving backup to the overwhelmed guards, the government decided to hear out the inmates and what they wanted. This lead to the riots ceasing.

An alleged murderer Johnny "Stab-Stab" walked free, to the amazement of the populace. People are saying this is because of John's expensive lawyers. The government has decided that all citizens, regardless of financial status, will only have public defenders.

A local theater was losing money after the new generation has no interest in opera. They asked the government for funding. The government decided not to help  and it was bought and turned into real estate by a private company.

Two criminals that were charged with murder and robbery escaped police and ended their crime spree with a joint suicide pact. Some citizens have almost begun seeing them as anti-heroes. The government decided that they would condemn their actions instead of  following that trend.

Lastly, a honeybee decline has started happening in EPS, so the government decided to allocate funding to local beekeepers to build large hives to boost their numbers back up.

Thanks for reading the second issue of EPS News. If you have any suggestions, please tell us. And if you want to know more about The Eastern Pennsylvanian State please head to our homepage. Have a great night.

  3. Welcome to the first publication of EPS News.

First up, your weather. Tomorrow, expect a partly cloudy day with a high of 93 and a low of 66, with only a 20% chance of rain. This week expect a chance of mild thunderstorms on Wednesday and Thursday.

Next up are some issues that were resolved by the government:

Firstly, a freemium game caused controversy, with some parents and activists calling the extremely profitable game a money scheme, and some went on to say that people who spent money on these games had metal illnesses. Our government went on to decide that people had the right to decide whether they wanted to spend money on these games or not, and the publishers went off scotch-free.

Also, a big win for political freedom and say in government, all supreme court justices are elected by the people. Before, the leader decided who was on the highest court in the land, but no more.

Next, many neighbors of The Eastern Pennsylvanian State were getting a bit trigger happy. They were doing many weapons tests that were very close to our land. That brought up the debate of first strikes and what would we do in case of a bombing. Many cases were brought up, like we should attack right now to get it over with, or we should invest in wmd's. The government ended up going with a commitment to multilateralism, where we would go to an international committee like the World Assembly or the Hall of Nations before any attack we do. They cited that even though we would have to go through lots of red tape, we would have the international community at our back.

Lastly, due to flooding yesterday and a scramble for basic essentials, many stores were under fire for price gouging. The government, however, allowed businesses to continue have the freedom to do so. We have some quotes form the Minister of Business for an explanation. "We decided against removing the ability for businesses to price gouge for two reasons. One is that it may actually work in favor of the consumer. Without price gouging, it would be possible for a few select hoarders to buy the entire stock and leave everyone else with nothing. Then we would be having a debate about seizing these products form these people. At least when products price are raised, everyone can get some. This is not the perfect solution though, as the price for one essential item may be too much for a lower income person. We do suggest that instead of price gouging all products being sold, sell one individual item at the normal price, then sell any extra a consumer wants to buy at a marked up price, to discourage hoarders. We will not enforce that, though, it is only a suggestion. We do that for our second reason. We believe that the government cannot operate a business as well as the owner of that business, so we will not butt into the business of others."

That is the first issue of EPS News. If you have any suggestions, please tell us. And if you want to know more about The Eastern Pennsylvanian State please head to our homepage. Have a great night.

  4. Hello! I'm kinda new to Nation States, but I'm very new to the whole forums and roleplay side of it. I hope this is the right place to make my introduction. My hope is to be a part of the community and contribute. I'm already a Hall of Nations member, so that's a start. I'm also going to start doing a local newspaper as my own little introduction to roleplay. I'm very excited for what's to come!

    A link to my nation.

  5. For a while now the citizens of The Eastern Pennsylvanian State have been asking, "where is the newspaper?" At the time of this writing, the population of 181 million has gone for a long time without a place to read the news. A key point in democracy is knowing what is going on in their country. A politically apathetic democracy can not call itself a democracy.

Well now that need is filled! From this day forward, all Eastern Pennsylvanian Staters will be informed about the happenings inside the nation. From new policies, to shifts in government, to anything an informed voter might need, it will be found in this paper. Note that we are completely detached from the government. There will be no governmental meddling in the news brought to the people.

The first real publication of the news will be tomorrow. Make sure you read the paper so you can be informed!
