  1. That sounds significantly more efficient. How do we set it up? I can probably do that tonight if you wish. Ok, I'm working on two telegrams to send to new players. The first is a simple and short one which basically tells people not to leave, but to stay in TWP. The second is a longer one aimed at explaining how everything works in TWP, for people who do choose to stay here. I will run them both by IH when I think they're ready-ish. Well. I've been feeling surprisingly efficient today, so I have completed both of the above mentioned welcome messages. Would you prefer I telegrammed them to you for review or just posting them in a new topic in this forum? I'm also making progress preparing a script which should work on the API, am currently setting a time delay so it doesn't activate the spam filters and result in grumpy moderators. Ok so the current problem is that in order to automatically send a telegram to all nations, as they are founded, the program would need to be constantly scanning for them, so would need to be running 24/7? - which means it would need to be server hosted. Urgh.
  2. I think the forum is important because it provides a more organised discussion area, the RMB is rather restricted.. Other than that, I'm actually inclined to agree with Eli at the moment. Besides, ultimately though the forum may choose to vote for guardians there is no mechanism for them to enforce it. Whether we "officially" recognise it or or not, they will remain highly influential simply due to the amount of endorsements they have.
  3. Don't know if you still want help, but I offer my assistance. I remember when I joined there were ridiculous amounts of telegrams enticing me to other regions but nothing to encourage me to stay here. Krull in the Pacific sends telegrams to all new nations encouraging them to stay.
  4. Well, we can try.
  5. I'm aware they don't get elected, I was proposing that perhaps they should be? So instead of going all the way to a wild total democracy, perhaps a sort of democratic oligarchy would be a good compromise?
  6. I can assure you I do not have any pouches hidden on my body. Wait, that's probably exactly what a marsupial would say... Hmmmm :/
  7. Then maybe we just need to elect some more responsible guardians? Frankly, is there any point in saying that we don't want guardians? they are too powerful to remove by this point really. Even if we take away their official role, they would still wield a great amount of influence. On another note, the fact that no other region has them is a good thing. It makes twp unique.
  8. But you don't think other regions might notice our decision to relinquish the guardians and decide we are vulnerable? Wait, who cares? Let them come, we will destroy them. Anyway given the guardians are all trusted members of twp is it that great a problem for them to threaten the delegacy? Better them than some outside force.
  9. All it takes is one glance at the RMB to know that we should keep the silly tag. Whose idea was it to put rum in the coffee? *shudders*
  10. I thought the purpose of the guardians was to make us basically invulnerable against invasions? Consider, without a founder and with only small armed forces we would otherwise be in a rather exposed position. The delegate would be forced to enforce harsh endorsement caps to prevent insurgency, like in the Pacific. Nobody wants another Pacific (or at least I don't)
  11. That is surprisingly logical.
  12. Hahaha I'm detecting a slight bias in your explanation but nonetheless thanks.
  13. I'm guessing that they are working on the assumption that a fascist region wouldn't have "anti-fascist" as a tag.
  14. It occurs to me that I might have implied I had a solution to this problem. I don't, unfortunately. Actually, calling it a problem doesn't quite fit; political opposition is quite healthy (in a democracy anyway). I guess I'm just completely confused as to what you guys are arguing about? According to Dark one should join the Opposition if they possess a wild and irrational love for democracy in every context, so I'm guessing that this is about whether Guardians should be elected or something? :/
  15. I don't think either group has got things particularly right. WECA is right in that the Guardian system effectively protects TWP, but all that rather melodramatic nonsense about northpacifican corruption puts me off a bit. I suppose a compromise would be far too wild and illogical?
  16. I think anti-fascist in a way links to the national sovereignty thing - the WA are almost fascist in the way they demand I care for the environment and force laws down my throat ...I mean our throats. Or do I? I think I've lost what I was saying so I'm just going to stop here.
  17. What's on my mind, you ask? Well, at this very moment, food.

  18. Thanks for the welcome everyone, and for all the delicious delicious chocolates... And holographic stickers to attach to my forehead. Was just wondering one thing at the moment... why are we opposed to marsupials?
  19. Hello everyone! I'm entirely new to nationstates as of yesterday and have finally navigated my way to these forums, so just thought I would introduce myself. So... hello i guess? My nation is the same as my username by the way, I thought that would be sensible.
