Unfortunately, regional politics is a messy game, and I am sad that I have to post the following message. I have always found The West Pacific to be a welcoming community and I have respect for its members, however, as so happens in politics, our regions have followed different paths, thus I am posting this missive from the Osiran Government.

 

 

The Government of the Kemetic Republic of Osiris, under the direction of Pharaoh Treize Dreizehn would like to establish the following regarding the events of the 11th of May 2013: 

 

 

We, the Government of Osiris, recognize the statements released by The South Pacific's Cabinet as a necessary declaration - if heartbreaking to read.  It is a sad day when The South Pacific feels that it cannot trust a sister feeder to guarantee its sovereignty and come to its aid when under threat from external forces. What it does not expect, and rightly so, is for a sister feeder to then recognise the illegitimate government with actions from its government.

 

Osiris recognises, and is greatly disappointed, with the actions and reasoning of The West Pacific Imperium and the decisions of their Delegate-Designate in recent times. We feel those actions must be commented on by this government.

 

So quick was the Delegate of The West Pacific Imperium to call for aid from regions with Off-Site Governments (including Osiris) during its own time of strife. Then to turn and denounce the off-site government in its recognition of Milograd's regime was hypocritical, self-serving and spineless. One could agree with the need to be pragmatic in times of conflict, but when a decision conflicts with both your own government's legitimacy and the legitimacy of every region who has an off-site government, one must question the logic behind such a declaration.

 

The West Pacific Imperium is not Caput Mundi, and every action has a consequence. That is to say, it is not the capital of the world, and whilst it may have the luxury of picking and choosing its friends, enemies and protectorates, it must show some consideration to regions which have existed for as long (or longer) than it has. Recent events point to a startling lack of consideration to its Feeder-Sinker relations.

 

The West Pacific has greatly disappointed Osiris with their actions, actions perpetrated by a region we considered an important historical pillar in NationStates. Their blatant disregard for another region's sovereignty, which itself also has as considerable a history and standing in the NationStates world, has left with no other option but to recall our Ambassador and begin appropriate closure of all embassies.

 

From this point on, Osiris and The West Pacific have no formal relations.

It is our firm wish in Osiris to rebuild old friendships which may have been tarnished by the past. It is also my own personal believe that each and every sinker and feeder should have an open channel of communications with one another. As such, I'm pleased that Osi-TWP relations are to be normalized and we can move forward, as two sovereign and independent regions.

For those of us who have been hiding in a cave for the past two months, a brief update.

The Dourian Embassy, in an event that, unfortunately, many Osirans privately predicted, illegally seized control of the delegacy upon his loss and then proceeded to hand control of the Delegate nation to Gatesville and her High Queen, Nevadar, who proclaimed Osiris a protectorate of Gatesville. Naturally, native Osirans would not accept the yoke of a foreign invader, and fought back, and, with the aid of our allies, won a hard fought battle. Despite the duplicity, the backstabbing and the posing, Osiris would like to remind everyone involved that NationStates is just a game, and that insults on a personal level should never be perpetrated.

The Aftermath

The Trenches, Osiris – A triumphant cry rose from the trenches as Gatesville retreated from Osiris, to the joy of all those who hold marsupials, glitter and beer close to their hearts.

“We wuz havin’ a cuppa, ourright? And then we’s hearin’ them Gatesville boyz runnin’ for dear ‘ell like Thrawnnsie was right behind ‘em. And I said to my boyz, I said, ‘Wouldja look at that. We’re outta beer.’ Thassrite, we got our delegacy back,” said an unidentified and inebriated man (thing?) in the regalia of the Sobek.

Osiris has had it's share of troubles. It's clear to both Osirans and her allies that change is needed - badly.
In response to the concerns raised by both allies and natives alike, the Pharaoh is pleased to announce the beginning of a new constitutional convention.
Spearheaded by our Kai Repat and Vice-Delegate, Astarial, the constitutional convention, known as Osiris 2013, has begun, and, by all accounts, is wildly successful.

Said an unidentified and mustachioed man, "This is the perfect opportunity for Osirans to cou- effect positive change within our region."

Topics include the Judiciary, Legislative, Executive, Security, and Administrative bodies of Osiris.

Osiris-Spiritus Partaaaaaaaaaaay

Everybody loves confetti.

That's right - it was an 11-a partay. According to dazed but happy eyewitnesses and participants, Osirans and Spiritans alike danced late into the night, spoke and joked with each other over Skype, made shortest stories, challenged each other to song-duels, and generally had an awesome time.

The culmination of weeks effort, led by our Vizier of Culture, Neavilos, and Wuufu, the Minister of Culture in Spiritus, this festival showcases the similarities and the closeness between our regions, and the thriving exchange of culture unique to Osiris and her allies.

Blue Wolf Appointed Sobek

Blue Wolf, an experienced gameplayer with a deep understanding of the modern dynamic of R/D was appointed as the new Sobek of the Medjai Guard. In an exclusive ONN interview, Blue Wolf disclosed his plans and goals for the Guard, the most significant of which was his plan to aggressively pursue "new blood" for a desperately needed revitalization of the Guard. While not able to disclose any targets in his sights, he made it clear that Gatesville the focus of the Guard's future.

Cormac takes leave

Our Pharaoh, Cormac A Stark, has taken a leave of absence to address real-life issues. Osirians rallied around Cormac, with a statement of support issued in the Sepatarchy's name, and an announcement from Kai Repat and acting Pharaoh Detective Figs announcing that the actions surrounding Cormac's leave would not be prosecuted by court nor warrant a pardon.
Regions, moderators and players have reached out to Osiris and Cormac to offer their support - thanks.

In Other News...

• We have a new Sepatarchy, consisting of Thrawnn, ygfbv, Siam Meow, and Felasia, led by our Speaker Quadrimmina.
• In the past few weeks, the Sepatarchy has passed a comprehensive reform of citizens rights, our election system and maintaining our treaties and pacts.
• The WA Affairs Temple has undergone a massive spurt in activity, almost unanimously voting against Condemn The New Inquisition.
• The trial of Treize Dreizehn has commenced, with a charge of couping being brought against him. The defendant chose to plead guilty, and the state has suggested a punishment of permanent forum and regional ban. The Great Kenbet concurred, and handed down a statement viewable on our forums.

The Kemetic Republic has fallen and we, the citizens of Osiris, are pleased to recognise the beginning of a new dawn in Osiran history, and what we hope to be a turning point in the history of NationStates. Our updates will now be released more regularly, on a bi-weekly basis, so you'll be kept abreast of the very latest developments in our region.

We've not just been resting on our laurels this whole time y'know. Stuff's happened.

• Our New Vice Delegate Kypscrew is also Leader of the Security Council!
• Lord Ravenclaw is our new Director of Diplomatic Affairs!
• NES is our Director of Foreign Affairs!
• The Deshret has been created! This is a much more open system of legislature than the former Sepatarchy, and already members are pouring in to the Deshret Chamber.
• A new Security Council has been announced! The current members are Diamete, Lord Ravenclaw, Quadrimmina and Biyah!
• Cormac has been named Mushir (Field Marshal) of the Sekhmet Legion! His Fariq (Lt Gen) is Koth, while Venico and Mad Jack have taken up the roles of Aqid (Colonel).
• Pinky-Lifting-Tea-Drinking Goodness is taking place on a Grand Scale!

On a serious note...

The last few months have been difficult for Osiris. Suffice to say it's probably going to be the most eventful period in our entire history. We extend our sincerest thanks to all those who have stood by us in this time of war and transition, and especially to Spiritus, Albion, The Black Hawks, The New Inquisition and The West Pacific for their swift support of our newly instated delegate Detective Figs. We hope that one day, should you ever find yourself in need, we will be able to help you as you have helped us.

Hello there!

 

Osiris would like to say how much it appreciates The West Pacific's support at this time as we move to a new society in order to repair the divisions in our society caused by the various civil strife that we've experienced over the last 15 months.

 

Osiris would also like to say that it misses the presence of Darkesia on our RMB and would welcome her gleefully back to the region in order to keep the RMB on more positive topics, continuing the valuable and essential efforts she has so graciously performed for us during the last few difficult events.

 

We would be prepared to fund her travel through first class travel using funds confiscated from Empire members.
