Signups and OOC Thread

There's already a lot of talk about doing an F1-like competition for Esferos. But while I open this signup and OOC thread, this gives me a gauge of how many people actually want to do it and provides an initial baseline of the number of users willing to RP until the end of the season/calendar of this competition.

This competition (emphasis on the word I used, "competition," rather than "tournament") will be different from the usual because this will not happen and will end in just one (1) month. I am currently looking at the season/calendar for this competition will roughly be eight (8) months, depending on the number of signups. However, we will only utilize a maximum of one week per event per month to minimize RP-writing burnouts. A race weekend will start on a Friday with practice, with qualifyings happening on Saturday, and the competitive race on Sunday.

For roleplays in the season, I will allow as much as one (1) week before the start of the practice for RPs to be posted. Cut-offs will happen three times in a race weekend, one before scorinating the results of the practice (receiving a maximum of one (1) point), one before scorinating the results of the qualifying (receiving a maximum of one (1) point), and one before scorinating the results of the race (receiving a maximum of one (1) point), for a total of three (3) points from RPing for the whole weekend.

A season-wide RP bonus will also be given for teams and drivers RPing on the signing of a driver for the team (receiving a maximum of one (1) point), the teams and engine manufacturers coming to terms on which engine to use (receiving a maximum of one (1) point), and the teams and tire manufacturers coming to terms which tire to use (receiving a maximum of one (1) point). If no RP is posted but only announced in this OOC thread, there will only be 0.1 points for each decision made by a team. A team is allowed to have a maximum of two (2) drivers.

Multiple signups will happen in this thread, of which the IC thread will be posted after many signups are posted. The IC thread will start with the pre-season, for teams deciding to roleplay which driver to sign and which engine and tire to use. However, the Team, Engine, and Tire Signups will only be reserved for Veteran Storytellers (subject to change with the agreement between Loremasters and Lorekeepers). All Storytellers will be able to signup a driver and circuit (circuit signups are subject to scrutiny by Loremasters for realism), with Veteran Storytellers being able to signup a maximum of two (2) drivers for this competition.

I will only select 3-4 tire suppliers, with no limit to the number of approved engine suppliers.

This season, we will use The Racing Scorinator (TRS) v2.5.6, the standard Motorsports / Auto Racing RP scorinator of NS Sport.

Again, no double-posting (except for me to submit my signups)! You can always edit your post to include any necessary edits that you need to your post.

Notes:

DRIVER NAME is the full name of the driver (should only have a maximum of 25 characters, including spaces).

NAME TRIGRAM is the trigram that usually represents the driver's surname. A trigram is a set of three letters that represent a longer word. For example, a driver named Aaron Deering could have a trigram of 'ADE' or 'DEE' but probably not 'AAD' or 'AAR' because both examples use letters from the driver's first name. It's the surname that is important.

NATIONALITY TRIGRAM should be the trigram for your nation. It should be three letters from the BBoN. This is NOT the trigram for the driver's name.

PREFERRED CAR NUMBER is your driver's preferred car number. This can be any number between 3 and 99, and 0. 1 and 2 are reserved for next season's team champions if they choose to use those numbers.

SECOND CHOICE CAR NUMBER is your second choice for your driver's car number. If two drivers choose the same number, the OOC host (yours truly) will assign car numbers.

RELIABILITY, AGGRESSION, and TECHNIQUE: Aggressive drivers are better at overtaking, while technical drivers traverse Esferos' more challenging circuits. Each attribute should be given a number between 2 and 5; the three ratings must add up to a maximum of twelve.

BIO is a short biography of your driver. His/her/its age, experience, hopes and aspirations, driving style, favorite sandwich, whether they are color-blind - things like that.

CIRCUIT NAME is the track's name, e.g., Bahrain International Circuit, Bahrain, Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, or Barcelona-Catalunya. You don't have to use a full name.

RACE NAME is the name of the race, e.g., Bahrain Grand Prix, Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, Spanish Grand Prix, or any local name

TRACK IMAGE is a link to an image of the track hosted externally on Photobucket, Imgur, or a similar service. Signups with no track image will be invalid.

TRACK LENGTH is the length of one lap in kilometers. No circuits under 3 km or over 7 km will be entertained.

QUALIFYING TYPE: There are four choices:
-TRADITIONAL: 90 minutes long, cars set up to 10 laps with the quickest lap counting.
-ONE-SHOT: Each car gets one lap, no more, to set a time.
-ELIMINATION: Standard Formula Elimination Qualifying.
-TT: Two-Tiered Qualifying

TRACK AGGRESSIVENESS/TECHNICALITY: Aggressive circuits are wide, with plenty of opportunities to overtake. The second value is Technical Difficulty. A track with a high TD rating suits more technically skilled drivers, and the circuit may be more difficult to overtake. The numbers should add up to ten.

OVERTAKING DIFFICULTY is how difficult it is for a driver to overtake another on the circuit. A 5 means overtaking is difficult, and 0.1 means overtaking is easy. 2.5 is about average.

MARGIN FOR ERROR denotes how severely mistakes can be punished. A 0.1 means the track is forgiving - a driver won't lose too much time if they spin. A 5 means mistakes are punished more severely. 2 is average for a regular circuit. A true street circuit would be more technical.

NATIONALITY TRIGRAM should be the trigram for the nation. It should be three letters from the BBoN.

TEAM COLOR is the team's primary color, or its cars, in a six-figure alphanumerical hex code.

RELIABILITY/ACCELRATION/TURNING: These numbers define how good your team's car is at certain things. The higher its Reliability, the better it is at not falling apart on track – sometimes literally – and the easier it is to drive; the higher its Acceleration, the better it is at getting up to high speeds quickly, making it more capable out of tight corners and on long straights and high-speed corners; the higher its Turning, the better it is at maintaining speed and stability while changing direction, making it better at moving through low- and mid-speed corners. Each attribute should be given a number between 2 and 5; the three ratings must add up to a maximum of twelve.

Son of a multi-billion Adaikesian florin copper conglomerate President, he was fascinated upon seeing a Grand Prix of the World Open-Wheel Racing (WOWRacing) on television six (6) years ago. This fascination level turned higher when a businessman friend invited them to watch one of the races of a fore Grand Prix race. Since then, he has set his sights on driving and competing internationally. He got his father to sponsor races in United Adaikes and has won all of them. However, this just sparked controversy in the nation because of rumors of match-fixing. To put stories to rest, with Aaron turning recently of age, Aaron decided it was time to race in the Esferos Grand Prix Championships.

Spoiler

The Steskia International Circuit is a permanent racing facility in northern Steskia, Thraproy, near the Steskia International Airport. Owned by the local copper conglomerate giant CopperUA, the 5.961 km circuit is a mixture of straights and bends that will put the engines of the racing cars to their test and narrow corners that drivers must negotiate without making too many mistakes. The track itself is challenging - lots of gravel traps to alert the drivers from going too fast and a shortage of run-off areas, which can punish drivers who are too aggressive. The width of the circuit is narrower than usual, making the course a bit difficult to overtake.

The start/finish straight is a downhill with a 35-degree left turn, with full throttle going to the Kotyog Complex, which starts going uphill with a small degree turn 4, with the foot on the throttle up to the first of the two Nordus Bends, then going full throttle going to the tightest corner of the circuit, The Hairpin. A series of downhill turns from Turn 7 to Turn 1 plus 1 (11) completes the second sector. From the second Nordus Bend, the track goes gradually uphill until the Unlucky Turn, which elevates steeply to a flat Turn 14 and abruptly downhill in the Petrofilindo Complex. Another steep uphill curve, the Yoggy Bend, sends the cars straight to the start/finish.

Driver's bio:

Ari Dasher, age 28, is probably the most technically gifted driver in Aura, and possibly the world.
There doesn’t seem to be a turn or grade that he can’t handle.
He was born for the Lux Litore, where he has spent most of his time since he began racing at the age of 18.
If he has a flaw, it is in his almost gentlemanly approach to his competitors,
making him sometimes lose ground on the straightaway.
Given his signature style and black hair and blue eyes, he seems to be a negative image of his twin brother, Celerio.

Driver #2 Name: Celerio Dasher

Driver's bio:

Although certainly not reckless, the blond-haired, brown-eyed Celerio Dasher, age 28, exhibits little of the technical aptitude of his twin brother, Ari, preferring instead to aggressively push his way past his competition. Although quite familiar with the Lux Litore, he has spent much more time than his brother racing around the world. If a course has a long, straight section, chances are he’ll create the space needed to finish first.

Info:

The circuit includes some of the most famous parts of any F1 racetrack: Casino Square, the tunnel section and the blisteringly fast Swimming Pool section, to name three.
Austra's tight, twisty and punishing circuit is considered the ultimate test of driver talent. While the car vs. driver debate has lingered as long as racing has existed, Austra is perhaps the one place above all others where a driver can make the key difference. As such, Austra's qualifying session is often one of the best, most intense and most important of the season. A qualifying lap around the ancient city is about as unforgiving as they come.
A drawback of the nature of the circuit, and F1's increasingly wider cars, is that the race tends to be more processional, with overtaking all but impossible at the majority of locations.

Racing is not a widely popular sport in Zoran but Gatsanula could be considered the sport's biggest fan in the country and considers himself a skilled racer...if street racing while in university counts as experience. With a degree in Automotive Engineering, Gatsanula was hoping to get a job in one of the car manufacturers in Zoran...but then the revolution happened and put a stop to his plans. Not wanting to be part of the Corporate plot and seeing an opportunity to start something new when war ended, he began designing a car with his farmer of a father to make a engine made for racing and in the three years of research and designing while working multiple jobs, he finally came up with a design that he believed could stand a change in professional racing. With the help of a few of his friends and family, they built their engine and read the news on an upcoming Esferos Grand Prix and he thought it would be a good idea to make a debut there. So he registered his company with the Zoranian government, Didatsunadalenvdayvwi Motors, and a shockingly successful crowd funding campaign in his local community and a loan, signed up with his friend to race in the Grand Prix.

Deyani Dvyahe is an old friend of Gatsanula and they would often race each other during their time at university. Deyani was not expecting to be picked as the second driver being sent to the Grand Prix but she accepted for the chance of possibly being successful...plus they kinda need this Grand Prix to go well if the company Gatsanula started is to be successful so she was kinda guilt tripped into helping her friend out.

Oldo Miuli was born in Porto Rosso in 1398.
Oldo's family is well-known in Rivalfiume for their affinity to sports: His older brother Gerri is a winger for Fluvinense Gesit 1331, a Fluvian team competing in the Lega Majore (the Top Tier of Fluvian Football) and his father Delarte was also a prolific footballer before he retired. He also played in the Lega Majore. Oldo started his automobilistic career in his native country, Rivalfiume. When he was 9 he competed for the first time in local and regional kart races. During his permanence in Junior Karting, he collected four regional titles (1409, 1412, 1413, 1414). In 1414 he moved up to National and International events. He won two back-to-back National Fluvian Karting Titles (1414, 1415) before officially trialling for Gran Saldo seats (OOC: Gran Saldo is something along the lines of Formula Renault/Formula 3, based in Rivalfiume). He was recruited by Gran Saldo team "Manni Motorsport" and had a promising career before being scouted and brought to important Open-Wheeled Racing events. As of 1423, Oldo is available as a free agent to compete for the Esferos Grand Prix, the biggest Open-Wheeled Racing event.

The Circuito Alfieri is a permanent racing track situated in the Alfieri District, Malò. Circuito Alfieri is a rather short and technical circuit: The first section (from turn 1 through 8) consists of long, sweeping turns and long straights that test the nerves and ability of the drivers. Notable turns are Turn 4 (Càttiri), Turn 6-7 (Campoverte I and II) and Turn 8 (Khu Medhal). It is crucial to maximize the exit speed through turns 6-7 to exploit the long Sebega Straight. The Sebega Straight goes uphill gradually until turn 8 (Khu Medhal). Turn 8 on the other hand goes downhill and it leads to Turn 9, the dreaded Carosello. the Carosello introduces the second section of the circuit and it is considered the trickiest turn of the circuit by many drivers, but also the biggest overtake opportunity (and statistically, the cause of the largest number of crashes/mistakes). The second section (from turn 9 through 13) is the most technical section of the circuit. It consists of tighter, twistier turns. Lots of overtakes happen here as well, especially in turns 12-13. The track is considered to be treacherous because of the incredible speeds that can be reached, especially in the first half of the track: If you car were to spin or to go off course, you'd lose significant positions.
The Fluvian Grand Prix is sponsored by BiBi, a Fluvian money transfer company.

Konstantin's passion for racing was sparked at a young age when he and his friends started racing their fixed-up scrap cars around the outbacks. They would compete in makeshift races, testing each other's skills and pushing their vehicles to the limit. Konstantin quickly realized that he had a natural talent for racing, and his knowledge of how cars worked gave him a significant advantage over his competitors.

On his 16th birthday, Konstantin signed up for Eckhard-Walter's junior program, hoping to make a name for himself in the world of professional racing. He quickly impressed his instructors with his technical knowledge and his ability to extract the most power out of any vehicle he drove. With his natural talent and his hard work, Konstantin quickly rose through the ranks of the program, earning his place in the Eckhard-Walter Racing Team.

As a member of the team, Konstantin has continued to hone his skills, pushing himself and his vehicle to the limits in various racing events around the world. He remains grounded in his humble roots and often visits his family in Innesse where he grew up, still working on scrap cars with his father whenever he gets the chance.

Driver's bio: Hentig Likurt (M) is a very careful, but fast driver having mastered Fauthur's most nefarious racing tracks and dominated the countries racing leaderboards in go-kart, rally racing,
and 24 hour endurance races. He is 27 years of age, has a wife and 2 kids, both male and female and has won several trophies and titles in his career. Over the years, he has proven himself to be reliable and conservative in his racing style,
often taking rest in front or behind opponents cars in races to cool down his overheated breaks and sometimes even engine. On the Rally front, 4 titles all in multiple stage rally in the national Fauthur Rally Championship. Here’s where his technicality comes to play, fast paced precision corner cutting, drifting around corners, and gaining time wherever possible.

In team racing however, driving with and around a teammate in another car, he has been showing himself to be kind of selfish and sometimes refuses to coordinate with his team mates. Regardless of the races outcome, he will always take well deserved rest with his family and not overreact. He is the nations number one racing driver and will take on every international competition related to racing.

Driver's bio: Hetrin Lomia (F), born in the capital city of Fauthur, West Fauthur, 23 years ago is a aspiring Futhurian High Speed Racing driver taking part in the National Speed Racing League that happens every year (Like Formula 1). Given that a lot of Fauturian Tracks in the League are made for speed and fuel management specifically, there isn't much technique to be used in the corner lacking circuits. This has prompted her to adopt a really aggressive, though reliable racing style as much to her abilities as she can. So far, she has taken part in 3 seasons of the NSRL and took the champion title once. the other two times were third place and 7th place in the championship. Alhtough Fast and Reliable, she still lacks some major experience the other drivers don't.

This is also where their HQ is located. In the 14 years around, they've climbed up the ranks to be one of Fauthurs most reknowned Racing Teams with several constructors championship titles, aswell as awards for best driver academy in Fauthur. It's been used for more than 80 years hosting all types of races, from elimination and classic racing, to endurance racing and time attack racing with cars as well as motorbikes and therefore draws widespread attention whenever a race is happening. It is a big track featuring many long and slightly curving sections where aggressive drivers can really excell at their abilities, a couple of sharp turns, especially Turn 15 and 16, nicknamed "Speedy Halt" Due to a history of many drivers overseeing the sudden sharp turn and crashing into the barriers. Then we got turn 19 and turn 20 which are nicknamed "The Wrecking S" where many duels have found a gnarly end due to a very hard break from a long and speedy straight. The track offers 2 emergency drive off routes which were only recently built in the last year to stop cars from crshing into hard barriers there. It also offers plenty of sand banks and gravel pools to stop any sliding car that has spiralled out of control without crashing into a hard barrier. The track consists of 3 Sectors, each measuring the top speed and time of drivers all the time and with a lot of Safety Stewards and Emergency Response Units, such as ambulances and firetrucks along the way to quickly deal with any issues on track. It also boasts cheap tickets due to the many spots in which visitors can watch the race at all along the track.

It is famous amongst racers all about Fauthur because of it's simplicity and aggressiveness.

Mìshk cel Chath is a notorious rock n' roll musician, media personality, and twice-convicted art thief. In his 50s, he has robbed no less than three museums, been shot in engagements with the IAA no less than four times, endured surgery on said wounds without anaesthesia, and published five fantasy bestsellers. The humble son of a Faulisk guard officer, the self-styled Lord Chàth exploded onto the Aukeran racing scene immediately following a decade behind bars for dealing in cocaine and stolen antiques. Possessed of a celebrated charm and a brilliant bravado, he secured private funding to enact his midlife dream to race around the world with zero practical experience. Despite this, a string of successes and high-profile wins have earned him the - sometimes eager, sometimes begrudging - popular support necessary to compete on the international stage. Alike to his famous heists (detailed in an autobiography on shelves now), Chath's driving style is highly aggressive, supported by a surprising, some might say shocking, degree of technical skill.

Golden Straits is the personal team of Vòla Canton's Lord Sovereign, Aubòlh ret Hekor. Hekor, who established the team with his own funds and operates it from his private estate on the East coast, has built the largest racing team in the Infinite Empire, with their success in last year's national competitions securing a place as Aukera's representatives abroad for the coming season. The team is eclectic, owing to Lord Hekor's penchant for funding amusing drivers and promoting employees who manage to keep up with his own notorious antics - indeed, it's Hekor who initially funded the rising career of the recently-released Chath. Despite the oddity inherent to the team, or perhaps because of it, the talent accrued around Hekor's personal endeavour has ensured a solid base from which his many ventures grow.

Aukera, historically, favours aggression. GS vehicles are built to an exacting standard, both aesthetically and functionally. They are built to accelerate quickly out of a turn, pressing for advantage and overtaking wherever possible. Being funded entirely privately, their cars also lack any common advertisements, emblazoned only with the team logo and the golden eye of the Infinite Emperor.

The city of Saint Khela, lying on the Western coast of the Imperial heartland, was the ground zero of Aukeran F1 racing. So named for the patron of horses, it was originally famous for its equine street races, and took to the evolution of the spectacle with aplomb. Those halcyon days of drivers blitzing through the city, however, have passed. In their place, mere miles from the roads of the original, is Saint Khela's Circuit.

Recently fully modernised, it is among the most popular of the Astintzen tracks. Its layout highlights the aggression for which Aukeran drivers are famous, with several long stretches on either end of a more technical gauntlet to inflame the passions of any fan. Encircling the track are the ancient spires of Saint Khela to the West, and the Drakhòld forest giving way to the Emperor's Spine to the East.

Lukas Taval-Sabino, 20 years old, is the youngest of three children of a wealthy family in the second largest city Porto Violeto. Ever since childhood, he's developed a passion for cars and speed, watching national competitions on television and spending his free time racing with friends on private tracks. His career goal has been obvious since then, although he faced some family resistance.

Lukas entered his first karting competition at 13 years of age and won, followed by more victories in regional and national karting events. Still during teenage years, an unexpected invitation from the prestigious Las Lavandas racing academy forever changed his life, and he promptly accepted the offer as he was eager to pursue his goal of becoming a professional racer.

In the academy, he learned from some of the best coaches and met other aspiring racers who became his friends and rivals. After training and competing in various racing categories, Lukas graduated from the academy and gained a place in the Las Lavandas team. Ready to face his biggest challenge yet, the Esferos Grand Prix, Lukas will have to prove himself against the best drivers in the world while impressing his large fan base across Giovanniland.

Sabina Dawa-Gyatso, 28 years old, was born in a medium class family, with a traditional Lavandulan surname composed of the words moon and ocean. Her mother Nyima Gyatso works as a taxi driver and taught Sabina how to drive and navigate through the busy streets of Uryde, as the family lived in a rural neighborhood on the outskirts of the city with nearly half a million inhabitants. Sabina spent her free time helping her mother with the taxi business and racing with her friends on countryside roads.

Sabina started racing go-karts at the age of 11 and quickly showed promise, winning several local competitions. With the support of her mother, who had always encouraged her daughter's passion, Sabina began to take her racing more seriously. After saving up money from her part-time job she bought her own car and started entering amateur races.

Despite facing challenges, including financial struggles, Sabina has never given up on her dream. She continued to work hard and improve her skills, successfully applied to join the Las Lavandas racing academy, and now has recently graduated to become a member of the team. Preparing for the upcoming Esferos Grand Prix, Sabina remains close to her mother and often talks about the importance of family and hard work in achieving success. The rising star driver is certainly motivated to make her loved ones proud this season.

The multiple parts of the race track are named after parts of the bird, such as the two wings (alas), head (caputa), beak (rostro), tail (cauda), and feathers (plumas). Additional features include an S-shaped chicane, a special curve called Kurvo Violeto (violet curve), and of course the start (ortia).

Izaskun Gipuzkoa (May 1st, 1398) represents the first generation of Hezuri racers born after independence. Following the completion of her military service with honors, she signed with the HML (Hezur Motorlanak) civilian engineering division in 1420, and became their second competitive racer in the summer of 1421. A combination of her youth, lauded military record, level head under pressure and the notability of her family have made her Hezur’s most high profile figure in motorsport. She now takes her first steps upon the Esferosi world stage, drawing attention to her military record and connections. Gipuzkoa currently drives for Lantza, the international division of domestic manufacturer HML.

The Ring of Gaztelu (Gazteluko Eraztuna) is built into the heart of the treacherously rocky cliffside capital of its name. An urban course built into an ancient city, the circuit is notoriously narrow and unforgiving, with only two points at the DRS detection zones where drivers can reliably overtake one another. Technical skill is key to victory, and drivers have suffered frequent, horrific crashes due to Gaztelu's temperamental climate and the track's grueling length.

Team Lantza (Talde Lantza) has seen tremendous public support in Hezur's recent entrance into international motorsport. A fiercely nationalistic and proud nation, Hezur approaches sporting as passionately as any other display of their development following independence from Aukera. Lantza's primary sponsorship comes from state industry itself, as its parent company is none other than Hezur Motorlanak - the centerpiece of Hezuri military engineering and production. Most of Team Lantza's members arrive directly from decorated military careers, and the sport has become a popular with former pilots.

The IC thread of the Esferos F1 World Championships is now up! See them at:

Also, come May 21, I would greatly appreciate it if any decision from your drivers, teams, engine, and tire manufacturers should be highlighted in the text and should be repeated at the start or end as like a tl;dr (whichever you like) of your post so that I can easily see the decisions in the whole bunch of text (which is a separate thing, as I rate them for RP bonuses).
