Lyckesians Say Hello!

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

a newbie player introducing!  I think I had a country here over 10 years ago, but no idea what or where it was. Stopped playing pretty quickly back then - but now I'm hooked!

Trying to casually improve my kinda government-led left wing country. Thinking, if there's enough time, will and interest from my part, maybe start to roleplay a little at some stage. Write a World Factbook entry and get mapped or something. Won't promise huge activity though. So far the core gameplay with issues have been fun and challenging though.

So far the game has proved very challenging and unexpected, in fact. Are there any positive developments to be had from issues? :D In my short time here, I've gotten my Civil Rights and Political Freedoms to drop. So, for example, encouraging the government to take actions instead of just sending thoughts and prayers led to: "the government only invests in infrastructure after a natural disaster" randomly, didn't expect it. Also taking a middle ground whether "democracy should be compulsory" randomly made VOTING compulsory! So thus far, I've become a bit afraid to try to solve any issue, since it only seems to make things worse in ways I really don't expect! Trying to be a democracy here, not a socialistic dictatorship!

So far cannot find how to endorse nations that don't have an endorsement button. Maybe someday. 🙄

Also wondering if this is the preferred platform still for posts like this, or should the Lyckasians rather talk in The West Pacific Regional Message Board "wall" / "feed" view instead. Or both!

Welcome to the West Pacific's forums @Lyckes:twpflag:

There's a lot to address in the message so I'll go step by step:

National lore - we'd love to have you join our roleplay! https://www.nationstates.net/page=dispatch/id=1256899

Issues - there's always gains and losses for each option. You need to read the options carefully for what they entail, but if you want to focus on a specific stat, you can use this results list: http://www.mwq.dds.nl/ns/results/

Endorsements - if a nation's not a WA member they can't give or receive endorsements. Also doesn't work for nations not in TWP.

Platforms - this forum isn't really suited for chatting, we keep it for other purposes. I heavily recommend joining the Discord Server: https://discord.gg/C8PAEvR

I hope you have a great stay here! :D If you want to know more about us, this dispatch has a list of interesting things to do: https://www.nationstates.net/page=dispatch/id=1256898

Thanks for the reply, our ceding Delegate! Yeah, I figured many of these things out since my message. Also gotten some positive effects from issues now. It still seems that the game tries this "everything affects everything" approach, and sometimes your responses to issues yield some unexpected results. If anything, I like it that way! Not looking for optimization or some known good answers to issues, just playing casually and going with the whim at this time. :D

Thank you for the welcomes and links!

Of course! And indeed, issues have unexpected results often.
