So, I am a violent stupid idiot! And aggressive as well.

[Clarkson hides from the producer, who so happens to be The Stig's Vegetarian Cousin.]

But the biggest problem with this c-nt is that I couldn't wait to punch the producer in the face... and now, I have.

[Hammond arrives, having driven there in Oliver.]

The Bauhaus Novel said, I love this, they've said sales won't be affected.

[Jeremy Clarkson runs off and out of the building, James May enters]

Function of Preifat

To compare the role Preifat performs to the governmental functions other nations, it can be likened to a Cabinet, Privy Council, and High Court. Where the Crown is said to be a corporation sole of the monarch, Preifat is said to be a corporation aggregate. Preifat is the body through which the Prince organizes the administration of the estates of Nieubasria, and is the confluence of executive, judicial, and legislative functions of the State.

ThTAag7T_uVANqApAj52rGjZtXZ_5KK0mXDSn1eubMd3m2bcSrzaaJjE_NOc3xV74hRjBR3DXI_hEluZ0Dia7xgup_ZO0bn0uoDD1eRs8muFZD0hniX4Z3tcIVNjEa72cNJNYagXVwFXSQRbMG37xzMsX-cjxuPcoQaUWobfXT-BozZ35Ea4P3wri1vaGHe Preifat is the collection of personal consultants to the monarch on state and constitutional affairs and officers with various portfolios within the Estates - it is a large group of which usually only a small number are convened at a time. Meeting in the Preifat, a private drawing room in the Palace for which the governing body got its name, the Preifat requires a quorum of 3 at any sitting- one of which must be the Prince or his designee.

Preifat is best known for its function as a Cabinet, in which the Equerry-Personal to the Prince convenes meetings with the Estates-Ministers on a regular basis to organize and orient the administration of their respective estates. This body is sometimes referred to as the Quorum Immediate or the Counsellors Immediate - and has become increasingly collectivist in its general decision making as more appointments are made at the request of The Hierminister, despite each Estates-Minister having individual plenipotentiary power. The Counsellors Immediate consist usually exclusively of all Estates-Ministers, Equerries to the Prince, and other plenary officials.

Another major role of Preifat is as the final court of appeal in Nieubasria- holding universal jurisdiction over all areas of the State’s law, including martial law.

Lesser known functions and powers of the Preifat include:

  • Administration of real property of the Crown
  • Management of the Palace or Royal Household staff
  • Ability to order exile or forfeiture of land

Those summoned to be Preifat Counsellors General are appointed at the pleasure of the Prince, though this is effectively a life appointment. The group is composed predominantly of former Estates-Ministers, Justices, and prominent Nobility, with some others having been inducted as an honorary gesture. Those in Preifat are accorded the use of an honorific style and post-nominal letters, as well as various signifiers of precedence.

Occasions of wider national importance such as the proclamation of a new monarch following the demise of a monarch or conferring on royal marriages are attended to by more senior officials, such as the Esquire-General, Estates-Minister of Hier, eminent Justices, and other senior statesmen. While all councillors are invited to such meetings in theory, in practice the composition of the gathering is determined by the Esquire-General of the day.

Around Giovanniland through Football Stadiums: 2nd World Cup Special II
Posted 17/11/1422

We're back at SporTravel with another post about the 2nd World Cup of Football tournament! Two days ago we released Part 1 of this special series, firstly highlighting the Violet Flower stadium, home of the Violet Warriors team of our country's second-largest city of Violet Harbor, and the Andoliarena, home of the Andoliaville Aardvarks of the third-largest Giovannilandian city and capital of Giovandolia.

As we all know and I highlighted in the previous post, football is praised by a majority of Giovannilandians that like sports, and the nation many powerful national teams competing in leagues that get millions of fans every year. Furthermore, while most of the focus goes into the matches themselves, we shouldn't forget to appreciate the great and creative modern stadiums and the work that went into designing them to make all football tournaments possible. Even when they're not actively having games, one can visit these beautiful buildings.

So, while the Giovannilandians prepare to face off the Landslag from Fujai, after beating the teams of Alchera and Kurabis and most recently losing to Cambria, we present two more iconic stadiums without further ado:

5ea6e46bc4ca7005e1513c87aff6549e.jpg

Urythburg Old Field, Urythburg Special City
Capacity: 45,300

People think of the Abreu-Floryn Football Center when the question of a football stadium in the northern special city of Urythburg is given. I mean, that's fair considering its highlight during the II Summer Esferiad last year and its prominence in the city center, but it's actually not the first stadium in the city of 468,148 inhabitants! The title goes to the Urythburg Old Field, one of the first football fields in the entirety of Giovanniland, founded in the early 13th century.

Back then, Urythburg had less than half its current population, as the city was starting to attract people from rural areas amid industrialization, and the football's capacity of around 10,000 seats was hailed as a big project back then. Nowadays, the stadium has been expanded four-fold as it takes the role of a secondary stadium in Urythburg, where people can see its historical elements, appreciate the coast, and run away from the big events in the Abreu-Floryn Football Center.

The home team is called the Lions of Lavandula, a historical reference from millennia ago to the Lavandulan Empire, which had its capital at Urythburg, then called Lavenderburg. Together with its Urythburgian counterpart situated at the larger stadium, the Urythburg FC, the two teams are regular teams in the first division of the national tournament.

Sadly, the Lions of Lavandula haven't been as strong as they were in the early years of Giovannilandian football, in which they had back-to-back titles at 1320 and 1321 for example, although new management and stadium modernization may mean a brighter future ahead. To their credit, though, their attacking midfield Hortensia Anvera-Flonterde was chosen as part of the Starting XI for the national team, while their rivals from Urythburg are only represented by two reserve players from the city. Hortensia is a young star from the team and looks to be quite promising in national football!

NINTCHDBPICT000636626072.jpg

Labertura Mountain Stadium, Montabra Prefecture
Capacity: 7,500

The Giovandolian Mountains of the southern Andolian Territory are not where you'd usually look for a football stadium, but in the largest city of this sparsely-populated region, travelers are able to find a quite iconic arena with a breathtaking view from the nearby mountains! The city name itself comes from its strategic location at a valley within the mountain chain, and is the main route for people looking to pass through the north into the Violet Valley or south into the Conquest Valley.

One of the main aspects it's known for, however, is the altitude of over 2,000 meters that often makes players from the coasts of Violet Harbor or Urythburg take some time to adapt! The capacity is small, although the city of Labertura isn't big either, with only 76,410 inhabitants. The home team is called the Mountaineers and oscilates between the second and third divisions of the national tournament.

That's all for the first part of this series! Thank you for reading, and we wish you good and safe travels if you are looking to visit these and other football places in Giovanniland. If you've got suggestions for the next parts, email us at sportravelgiovanniland@giovamail.com!

The third match of the World Cup Campaign saw Larxia face the previous edition's hosts United Adaikes. One of the stronger and more experienced teams participating in this year's edition of the World Cup. They placed 9th in the the First World Cup of Football. UA came into this match unbeaten, whereas Larxia suffered a shock defeat to Arifiyyah in their last outing.

The match kicked off, but the whole first half was pretty much a mid-field battle between the two teams, with both the team's midfields performing just well enough to deter each other. Larxia registered 7 shots on goal in the first half, but without managing to get it in the back of the net. In retrospect, UA managed only 2 shots on goal, but the second shot, which came in the 43rd minute, saw the Adaikesian star-man Maddox put his team ahead in a must-win match. At half-time UA led the match 1-0 against Larxia.

The Second Half kicked off after about 20 minutes of break. Even though, Larxia was trailing, they start with renewed vigor to turn this around any way they can. At around 75 minutes, Leo Messy found himself one-on-one with the Adaikesian goalkeeper. He slotted that away coolly around the keeper and in the back of the net, you can hear the handful of fans that were able to get in the stadium using the whole of their lungs to cheer for the equalizer. The second half saw Larxia relentlessly attack the Adaikesian defense, and the defense continually not able to keep up with the Larxian attacking trio of Aviero, Messy, and Garcia. In the 89th minute, an Adaikesian defender pulled down Garcia 25 meters from goal, resulting in a Larxian free kick. Messy stepped up to take the free kick. 90+2', Messy hits the ball, over the wall, curving towards the top left corner, just outside the keeper's reach. It's in!!! IT IS IN!!! Messy has done it! Larxia have done it!! Whatever Guardiola said at half-time went straight to their heads, as we saw a redemption from Messy, coming back to win such an important game against United Adaikes.

The next fixture sees Larxia face Cyrylic, who are having a campaign to forget, though they sit with one win, their qualification chances look slim with a possible strong showing from Ryxtylopia towards the end of the group stages.

WCF2 DAY 4
Rivalfiume at Risk!

Sospestan 2 - 1 Rivalfiume

HERTFORDSHIRE AND JAMMBO - Greetings, Fluviani! Full-Time has just been announced. Sadly, Rivalfiume has been defeated once again, and that leaves us with the last match, against Nieubasria. Let’s go and meet some of our players, to hear their thoughts about the last match.

Resìn gestures to the cameraman to follow him. They both greet Tesmett. Some of the Swans also join the conversation.

Resìn: “I have a bad feeling about this, boys! I feel like this is the end of our little stunt. Our next match is against last edition’s Winners, Nieubasria. Sospestan put on a fantastic display of football prowess, finishing 3rd as we speak. Of course, placements are still provisional, but you get the idea. Any thoughts?”
Calet: “Yep, we’re out unless we somehow manage to draw this last game. Or some other miracle happens. Although, the chances are really, really slim, considering Nieubasria hasn’t lost, or even drawn, a single game yet.”
del Poggio: “Sadly, I’d have to agree.”
Tesmett: “Although our chances are slim, I still want you all to try your best. We’re going to employ a defensive stance. We must be cautious against Nieubasria.”

The listeners all nod.

Tesmett: “Maridi, you will be starting further back, as we need more cover. Salviati, Lusiperto: You’ll get to be full-backs once again. We need to defend well. Primetto and Tajudi will be the defensive midfielders. As for the strikers, your tasks are more or less the same. We might get lucky and start a counter-offensive. Maltolo, I’m counting on you.”
Maltolo: “Understood, coach. Thank you for giving me a chance.”
Tesmett: “That’s all I gotta say. To your dorms, boys! We need a good night’s sleep. Tomorrow we’ll have to train defensive principles.”

Tesmett and the players all say goodbye to Resìn. Resìn adjusts his hair and looks back at the camera.

Well! That’s all the time we have for today! Will the Swans manage to do something special against Nieubasria, the reigning champions? Tune in to find out!

The formation planned for the last match of the Group. Notice the emphasis on the defense. With this, coach Tesmett hopes to end the game in a draw.

Maybe OTFB is ready, actually
published 17-11-2022 by Ben Jarnagan

Okay, okay, maybe I was wrong, and boy do I hear about it when I am. Do I bring that upon myself? Probably.

In case you missed it, I went on the air this past Saturday after a rough first match day in the World Cup. This year is Overthinkers’ first appearance and it did not go well at first. The national team exemplified everything I hate about soccer and walked back to whatever yurt Hertfordshire has them shacked up in with a 1-0 loss. And I said, “Overthinkers Football isn’t ready for the world stage.”

I felt vindicated that afternoon when OTFB dropped another game to Dalimbar. Like, I don’t think the Dalimbari even knew they had a football team. If the primary objective of football is to get a ball into a net, then thus far we were doing it wrong. Look I know we’re supposed to be a “defensive” squad, but you can’t win without scoring a goal. Then my headache began.

My social media feeds were pinging nonstop before we were even halfway through that Driex Skad game. Cargan Valley’s finest, Lukas Reeves, owes me a drink after his two goals in the first 30 minutes. I love my listeners, but damn if they don’t roast me alive in the rare cases where I might be wrong

And in case my dignity wasn’t compromised enough, Reeves slams in another pair in a 4-1 victory over Tupmonia. Now all of a sudden, barring getting absolutely steamrolled by the host team, OTFB is looking at a Round of 16 berth.

With a win or a tie, OTFB is in. If Driex Skad ties or loses, we’re in. If we lose and Driex wins, it goes to a tiebreaker, and our goal differential is 7 more than theirs. Driex is playing Nagaraningrad, who is second in the group and has given up exactly one goal this tournament.

Which brings me back to the main point of this blog post, something you don’t hear me say often so I’ll say it again: Maybe I was wrong. Maybe OTFB can, in fact, compete in the World Cup.

Let me clear. We’ve beaten two teams that are also playing in the WC for the first time. I still say we’re lucky to be here. But I’ll admit, the fact that we got this far—the fact that we even have the chance to play teams at a much higher level—is something to be proud of. Like, good job, Overthinkers National Football Team. I’m only slightly mad that you made me look like an idiot.

Of course, I still gotta be a realist. All the easy teams, by design, are gonna be eliminated after tomorrow, and we’re likely to get crushed in the Round of 16. But hell, we did better than anyone thought we would, given that we’re a nation renowned for academics over athletics.

And Reeves, if you prove me wrong again, I will get on the next direct flight to Hertfordia and settle this personally. Oh wait, there are no direct flights to Hertfordia.

The Saint Mark Angels

Football Club

Spotlight on #1

Handsome Soccer Players 2017 | Handsome Footballers

The Most Honorable Andrew, Marquess of Mane

Saint Mark scores!

The Saint Mark Angels Football Club have finally ended their drought in this World Cup with a 1-0 win over Ryxtylopia. The single goal was scored by the leader of the team's offense, #1, Andrew Lionguard, with a beautiful diving header.

Andrew is the eldest son and heir of The Duke of Lion's Watch. At twenty-nine, he is the second oldest player on the team, and is responsible for keeping the Angels' offense focused, often devoting hours of his own time to train up new members of the club.

Football is a new pastime to the Lionguard family. The Duke was an avid sailor, as is Andrew's sister, Anna. Watch for her in the next Esferiad.

Long one of Saint Mark's most eligible bachelors, Andrew's heart was finally captured by Lady Sara Nee. Andrew and the second daughter of the Earl of Feycrest were engaged this summer.

FEDYRAXXIÓN DI FUITBOL DI RYXTYLOPIA

RYXTYLOPIAN FOOTBALL FEDERATION

After the 1-0 loss against Saint Mark, the head of the Ryxtylopian Football Federation, Vynas Tinatí, decided to replace the current coach of the team Eraxtá Ralaó and replace him with a new coach: Avynas Na'latí, a coach that has served some of the teams in the Ryxtylopian home league, and does have some years of experience.

Ralaó didn't reject to being replaced, and he quietley flew back home, the team didn't necessarily welcome the new coach but they didn't reject either, they have been very worried about the upcomming match against Larxia, it will be a hard match for the team.

The press hasn't reported much on the situation yet, the interview scheduled after the match against Saint Mark was postponed to after the Larxian match.

The team has adopted a more defensive strategy, and are currently training hard, the strikers being told to hold the ball in the enemy side for as long as possible, while most of the team's attention is on defending and hopefully being able keep the ball as far away from the goal, ocasionally pushing forward to try score if possible.

The team hasn't put out any statements, supposidly beacause they have been too busy training for the match they have ahead.

The fourth match of World Cup saw Larxia come up against under-performing  Cyrylic. Larxia came into this match riding on the strong showing in the match against United Adaikes.

The first half started with both Larxia on the front foot as we saw multiple attempts at goal. Leo Messy finally converted a chance into a solid goal in the 21st minute with a free kick from just outside the box. Almost immediately within 10 minutes of the Larxian goal, Cyrylic found themselves shocked after Pioli found his long-range effort end up across the Larxian goal line. At the end of half time, both the teams were level on goals. Guardiola probably ripped into his defense and the goalkeeper for conceding such a preventable goal.

The second half saw Larxia once again start on the front foot with Larxia continually attacking the Cyrylic defense with a barrage of attempts on goal. At the 52nd minute, Adrian Garcia found the net for Larxia, putting Larxia back in the lead of the match with a well-placed shot in the bottom right corner of the goal. At the 77th minute, Leo Messy doubled up his tally and extended the Larxian lead to 2 goals over Cyrylic with a beautiful curling effort towards the the top left corner. The match didn't see any more serious action until the end, with Larxia securing a much-required victory.

This victory saw Larxia move up to 2nd place in Group C, ensuring the qualification to the next round, with a first-place their sights depending upon how the remaining fixtures proceed. The next match will see them go up against Ryxtylopia, who are in a three-way fight for the last qualification spot with Saint Mark and Cyrylic, who face United Adaikes and Arifiyyah respectively in their ultimate group stage fixture.

On Sporting in the Free State

An excerpt from a speech made by Col. Ivan Salikin, Head of Sports Department

Since the discovery and founding of Saint Andreisburg, the Dalimbari have been a sports-oriented folk. Our greatest pastime has been rugby, which developed from martial games played by our ancestors. Through the ages of exploration and discovery of the non-Dalimbari world, we have exported our favourite game to the rest of the world, and it has thrived. We will bring the cup home soon. And burn Zoran to the ground.

Which brings us to the nature of football. This has been a sport traditionally regarded as a peasant game played by eastern folk by the time that Dalimbar moved into those zones. We have traditionally suspected that the game originated in the middle-east of the barbaric world, perhaps in Saint Mark or another of the major barbarian powers of the day. Regardless, as we have pushed east, the more the local populace has been keen on this game.

The Free State has often viewed the sport with mixed feelings. With the progression of the squad, the new Boys in Blue, who represent many of the... eastern... members of our society, we Dalimbari are taking an interest in this game, new to many of our kind.

With the progression of the Dalimbari national squad to the Round of 16, Stavka has authorized the Sports Department to create a system of football akin to the Rugby Union system. Major Dalimbari cities will receive opportunities to create new teams under this new football union, with anticipated start in one year.

The entire Free State will be watching our team with hope and desire for victory. Slay the Barbarians!

WCF2 Coverage: Match Day 5 | Santos-Dominius 3-0 Sospestan

Santos-Dominius has secured a much-needed victory in the 2nd World Cup of Football after scoring a 3-0 win against opponents from Sospestan on Match Day 5. The National Football Team were able to once again harness the resilience they displayed in drawing 1-1 against the Zoranians on Match Day 4, and decisively beat Team Sospestan today in what has been deemed to be the climactic moment of Team S-D's reversal in fortunes following their defeat at the hands of Nieubasria on Match Day 3 and their subsequent comeback.

The victory over Sospestan means that Team S-D will advance to the round of 16, where it will face off against the chilly footballers of Hertfordshire & Jammbo next. In terms of points in the competition, both the National Football Team and the Hertfordians are evenly matched - both teams have had 3 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss so far, for a total of 10 points each. Pundits at home suggest that the match may very well go either way.

The match proved to be fairly uncontroversial, in comparison to the face-off against Zoran yesterday. Many sports and political commentators had predicted that the National Football Team would be in for an uphill climb against the Zoranians, as a result of the Blubberman fiasco, during which then-SDCSN Sports head correspondent Approctoflecticus Blubberman - up till then an iconic mainstay on Santo-Dominian sports television - made multiple remarks in his coverage of the 3rd Rugby World Cup that many domestic and foreign pundits later considered to be extremely insensitive and offensive.

Many thought that the National Football Team would not be able to handle the pressure stacked on it by the Zoranians' lingering antipathy towards Santos-Dominius, as well as expectations from back home for the players to reverse their sudden decline following their unsurprising but brutal defeat at the hands of Nieubasria on Match Day 3. However, while the loss to the Nieubasrians - the champions of WCF1 - was not entirely unexpected, Team S-D was able to pull through and obtain a respectable draw in the match, proving that they could handle the pressure.

The victory over Sospestan marks the third victory for the National Football Team so far, having previously beaten Rivalfiume 2-0 on Match Day 2 and Haetonia 4-3 on Match Day 1. While the streak was indeed broken by Nieubasria on Match Day 3 and Zoran on Match Day 4, the Round of 16 face-off against Hertfordia may very well give Team S-D a chance to build up another victory streak again, or eliminate it from the competition entirely without any chance for redemption until the next WCF.
