Summer Esferiad Day 6

Greetings to all! We have reached the sixth day of the summer Esferiad. Without wasting time, we will bring you the report of the Arifiyyah athletes in Quoriv and Kharventhin.

Ziad Zulkifli qualified for the shot put final and finished in 9th place.Ziad Zulkifli qualified for the shot put final and finished in 9th place. Well, nothing much to say about that.IMG_20211031_135201.thumb.jpg.21c1f0e2021f604658130678c1adc379.jpg

We move to basketball event, Arifiyyah basketball team lose 62-80 to Fuentana after two won two matches. The national coach said that his men failed to show an excellent performance in this game because there were 2 players who were worried about their father who was lying in hospital, namely the brothers Halimie Saddiq and Hakimie Saddiq. "Yesterday, we got the news that the father of these 2 players, was admitted to the hospital due to heart disease. A few minutes ago,we got called that their father was fine but still under the hospital's watch. Indeed, yesterday's training, they both didn't seems very well."

IMG_20211031_135245.thumb.jpg.265584feca525d52e62bbb426d2602cd.jpg

There is Giovanniland, taking the first place with 9 gold,6 silver and 8 bronze, follow up by Blue Bubble with 7 gold,13 silver and 8 bronze. Seems like the hosts dominating the Esferiad! Meanwhile Arifiyyah, still with no medal.

It seems more and more Arifians are arriving in Quoriv, because tomorrow will be the start of the football event and of course they want to give support to the Orangutan Rangers. Good luck to the national football and field hockey squad, as well as the athletes that haven't compete yet.

That's all the reports for today, see you next time.

FOOTBALL MD1 PRE MATCH PRESS CONFERENCE

National Head coach,Ong Kim Liau is at the Press room, with Orangutan Rangers Captain,Muhammad Nazhim.

"Okay, first question?".  "Hello sir, I'm Razif from Olympic Council of Arifiyyah. So you will facing the United Adaikes FA,can you share to us a few progress about the team?"

Ong Kim Liau: Well yes,the boys had already started training a few weeks before coming here. Day by day, I see the chemistry between the players getting built up, their skills getting better. A week before Esferiad, we had a friendly with Arifiyyah Professional League All-Stars, and we won 6-0. From there I already judge all the players. I'm sure they can win this match. Next?

"I'm Magnolia from Bernama tv,just a short question,What is your target in this Esferiad, considering this is their first time performing on the Esferiad stage."

Ong Kim Liau: Erm yes,for sure our maximum target is winning the gold,be the champ. And the minimum is to qualify for the quarterfinals. But I am confident that this team will be able to challenge for gold, silver or bronze medals. If you look at our performance at the world cup as well, it's great. This is almost same like the world cup, the only difference is that there will be 3 teams that will get prizes, and I am confident and hope that Arifiyyah is one of the 3 countries.

"I have a question for HRH Muhammad Nazhim,as a captain, how do you see the performance and relation between your teammates now ?"

Muhammad Nazhim: For me,day by day they're doing and getting better and better. The team bonding camp before we come here really helping. They become closer like siblings. And i want to say we will do our best for first matchday.

"Next questions? If not I guess that's all for now. We'll meet again after the match. Thank you everyone."

The evening of the Heads of State Meeting at Duchy Estate
Main Conference Hall, The Fiovana
Kharventhin, Blue Bubble

"First and foremost, I want to thank Vikki for organizing this abrupt press conference with you all," President Luke Salazar started, looking at Vikki Boatwright, his Press Secretary, after the meeting with the heads of state hours ago.

"I'd like to apologize if I arrived late," Salazar continued. "There were just so many interesting and intriguing points that the world leaders present there discussed in that meeting. I want to share some with you as the President of the United Adaikes. I also believe that some points there don’t need to see the light of the day here in the beautiful country of Blue Bubble. I'll be delighted to accept questions."

Salazar points to one of the reporters, raising their hands. “Mister President, this is just the Second Esferiad, the first for the country, but the main question was how did Blue Bubble invite you? And if you have talked with the other leaders about this one, how did you all find the way and time to come here for what the international press calls the ‘Esferiad Summit’?”

“When we submitted our reply to the International Federation of National Sporting Organizations that we will be participating in the Second Esferiad, there was already chatter about having a world leaders’ meeting in whoever gets selected to host the Esferiad in the spirit of sportsmanship and how we can introduce more sports competitions and increase participation in these competitions. When I received the invitation, I told Mel [Gaspar, the Vice President] and Jed [Gill, Red Palace Chief of Staff] that I want to be here in Kharventhin.” Salazar selects another reporter.

“What was the nature of the meeting, sir? Was it very formal? Were there specific halls that a head of state enters to talk with a specific head of state?”

Salazar laughed before answering, “No. Though, of course, we had to dress formally for the occasion as we were meeting other heads of state, yet the conversation was casual. Slightly official, but casual. We were in the main hall of the Duchy Estate. The first I approached was the host, the Mpitarika, but maybe because nearly everyone was there to greet her, I didn’t have the chance to congratulate her on hosting the event and the Esferiad as well. I also tried to talk with King Giovanni I, but he was also talking with someone else. So I looked around, and there I saw who I think will be my best friend in all the leaders of the world, the Prime Minister of Hertfordshire and Jammbo.”

After being selected by Salazar, a reporter asked, “Will there be a trade deal with the Andolian country, Mister President?”

“Not really, no. We can shoot for the future, but not at the moment. But I got Clarkov to talk. He's famous for being so tight-lipped, even in his country, but we got to talk about things. Though I noticed his startled face when I started to talk to him, I was just very grateful that he slowly opened up. One of the most interesting things that we talked about was the scope of autism acceptance in their country. I love the programs their government has for persons with autism. I will be surely talking to the Social Services Cluster in my Cabinet when I get back to the United Adaikes. After we can have resolutions, I will be sending a team to Hertfordshire and Jammbo, composed of experts in personality and development, benchmark on their programs to guide us on how we can also develop programs for these excellent members in our society.”

Another reporter asked, “How were the other world leaders, Mister President?”

“I get to join in dinner the Sultan of Arifiyyah and his wife. They are a lovely couple. I think it’s with the Sultan that I have talked more about sports than anyone in the Estate. Though, I have also talke about sports briefly with Clarkov, it was definitely more with the Sultan. I promised him we could have a yearly international friendly game or games of whatever sport they want. The first on the list will be football, but that would be after Esferiad because our first game in football in Giovanniland will be against each other. I told him that I’d be in the VIP box during that game and that I’d be expecting his presence there. Okay, last two. You,” pointing to another reporter.

“Have you talked to everyone, sir?”

“Oh, no. That is one thing that I have regretted during the meeting. As I told you earlier, I haven’t had the chance to talk with the Mpitarika and the King of Giovanniland. I’d also have loved the opportunity if I had the chance to talk with Prince Marcarius and the Queen of Orandia. I heard King James of Larxia was advancing a sciences organization. I’ll send my Secretary of Science and Technology to Larxia to talk with them about that. The young Goldberg is also an interesting gal. I hope to bump with her or have Anne [Duncan, Secretary of Foreign Affairs] talk about the relationship of the Federal Republic and Santos-Dominius. And lastly, you.” pointing to a reporter near the back.

“Mister President, we have heard that Gladwyn Bird is with you here in Kharventhin. A source has also disclosed that she was in the UAD One with you, leaving the plane as part of the presidential staff and that she was your companion in the Duchy Estate. Any confirmation about your rumored girlfriend, sir?”

Luke just smiled and said, “Thank you for coming, everyone! Have a good night. Vikki?” urging the Press Secretary to take over before leaving for his suite on the top floor of The Fiovana.

Giovannilandian Esferiad Report - 6th Day
9 Gold - 6 Silver - 8 Bronze

Sports Report Newsroom, Giovannistadt—8:00 AM International Atomic Time, 31st October 1421

Good morning Giovanniland! I am Carlos Nakamura-Edristyn, the host of the Giovannilandian Esferiad Report. And firstly, I am glad to tell you all that Giovanniland is now ranked FIRST PLACE for gold medals in the Esferiad! Four medals were gained today, bringing the total to twenty-three, and in this report I'll of course talk about the events that brought us these medals and the others that happened today.

Firstly, the events in Kharventhin! The quarterfinals of Beach Volleyball happened, and the Giovannilandian athletes Alexandre Elysthin-Zhao & Elisabeth Sanchez won against Morghan Victor & Estelle Montaigne from Nieubasria. They will now meet known opponents in the semifinals, namely Frisk Dachev & Robert Spïdwagen from Hertfordshire and Jammbo, and should ideally win, unlike the loss to that pair in the group stage. Giovanniland also fared well in Matchday 1 of Indoor Volleyball, with a strong win in all sets against Tupmonia, while it had a bye in the Matchday 6 of Water Polo.

Those were all events with Giovannilandian participation in Kharventhin, but there were a lot more in Quoriv. In the Quarterfinals of Baseball, Giovanniland achieved a strong 6-2 win against Fuentana, and will now face Cambria in the semifinals. The Giovannilandian Basketball team won 89-54 against Larxia and now stands in first place in its group with twelve points, a strong showing that should hopefully continue in the upcoming knockout stage. Meanwhile, Giovanniland had byes in Handball and Lacrosse. The Equestrian Jumping team, however, did not fare well and finished in 7th place out of 10 nations competing.

In the Grand Esferic Stadium, two athletic events happened. The 10000 m Run featured Marko Cambraya, Anastacio Fernandes, Ivone Shang-Quardyn, and Tiberio Nyima Qualwill, and they finished 1st, 3rd, 7th and 8th respectively. This was a very good performance from the Giovannilandian runners, earning two medals for the nation. Meanwhile, in the Shot Put, Querino Anairyth, Amanda Kharventhin-Derval, and Raul Aguamyr dos Santos all performed well both in the qualifiers and in the final. Amanda won a gold medal and established a new Esferic record, while Raul and Querino achieved 6th and 7th places respectively. Finally, the knockout stage of Tennis Doubles saw Saulo Uryth-Afraberg & Gustavo Quintana-Uralyn earn a silver medal after losing to Dio Burluka & Faust Ḩarełeudeiem.

Following this retrospective, it's now time to talk about future events! Firstly, the events happening in Kharventhin:

10 km Marathon Swim featuring Giovanni Amdo-Gyamtso, Lavinia Vrosbert, and Sarah Yorbal de Amir;
Semifinals of Beach Volleyball featuring Alexandre Elysthin-Zhao & Elisabeth Sanchez;
Matchday 2 of Indoor Volleyball and Matchday 7 of Water Polo (team events);

Furthermore, the Rowing Coxed Eights and Fencing Épée Individual events will also happen, but Giovanniland will not participate. Meanwhile, the events in Quoriv will be:

Semifinals of Baseball, Matchday 7 of Basketball, Matchday 3 of Handball, Matchday 3 of Lacrosse, Matchday 1 of Field Hockey, Matchday 1 of Football, and Matchday 1 of Rugby Sevens (team events);
110 m Hurdles featuring Barbara Gautchyn, Ernesto Arveredo-Amorant, Diogo Clegouskya, and Cyro Wilsim de Sousa;

Discus Throw featuring Alcione Qwarnyi, Clara Razlyen-Vrosa, and Rosangela Ebrentell;

Those are the events that will happen during the seventh day of Esferic events—and anyone can watch them on the channels 201 to 210! Members of our monthly subscription can also check recordings available at sportsreport.com.gl/esferiad/ii/events if unable to watch live. That is all for today, and see you tomorrow for the next report!

The show cuts to Jak and James, sitting on the sofa

James: And here we are, with the Mpitarika Kassakira Petrovikan

Kassakira walks on, waving and smiling, before taking a seat.

完成画像

James: How are you?

Kassakira: I am fine, thank you

Jak: and why are you here today?

Kassakira: Firstly, to let you two know you can continue your normal schedule and predictions a-

Jak hits a button, and a loud bang is heard. Balloons and streamers come down as the presenters cheer, along with what sounds like the rest of the production team. Kassakira looks at it all, startled.

Kassakira: I wish you had told me you were going to do that

Jak: well there is a big red button, what else you think that was?

Kassakira: I really didn't want to think of the possibilities... how long did it take you two to do this?

James: the whole of yesterday. We were out of breath by the end of it.

Kassakira smiles: Well, the other news is that the Komity will release a notice about the athletes tomorrow. No one was suspecting Blue Bubble to be top of the leaderboard for almost the whole week, until today actually, so I and the Komity wanted to address some concerns before any rumours started to crop up.

James nods: So, tomorrow we will be back to our normal acts, and with our normal co-host, Kasper. By the way, what was he doing yesterday?

Kassakira: Oh, that is so classified, even I don't know. May I do the quick run over of today?

Jak: Of course

Kassakira: Well today was a small medal show, but I like to think it is great that we are still winning medals - the momentum is great. Lanino Hanyan won silver in the 10,000m run, and Ivani Haskan won Bronze in the Shot Put. Our Rowing Coxless Fours Team won Silver as well, well done all four of you on your teamwork there. On the look-out for tomorrow, we have the 10 km Marathon Swim, 110 m Hurdles, and Discus Throw to be expected middle of the table and no medals, the Rowing Coxed Eights should be close to a repeat today when looking at the forecast. Fencing Épée Individual Stage 1 should be fun, a full team. I will be watching in person, and I wish the guys well on that, although a bronze is what is predicted that could be possible there, please try and win that for us! For ongoing multiday events, tomorrow we have the Semifinal Beach Volleyball and day 7 of Water Polo, along with day 2 of Indoor Volleyball, congrats on today's wins for all 3 of those. New multiday events tomorrow for us are the Field Hockey and the Rugby Sevens. I wish them luck too.

James: what a wonderful insight, thank you for that and for joining!

Kassakira: You're welcome!

The camera cuts to highlights of the day.

The Bauhaus Novel - Conversation Street - Episode 7: Autismo van Meeting

Rab44676142658e0add5c12b56b3f5a8f.png.b52fa34a59cca0d3daf7d96c39437875.thumb.png.24b52633c311c6955fa1a98ae64809a3.png

Well this is awkward. Not only has Mecislavs gone to the arenas to check up on the athletes (how's that for connecting with our people?) but Clarkov has blatantly refused to come on if it means he is on his own. Then again, even if Adaikesian President Luke Salazar miraculously got the 17-year-old, nearly 18-year-old, Prime Minister to open up, Jammbonevych Furutani is still the same shy cinnamon roll of a boy that Hertfordshire & Jammbo elected back in 1419. Bet he wasn't expecting that when it happened.

It took ages for Clarkov to finally start feeling comfortable, but once Salazar prized him open specifically with talk about the autistic acceptance scene in Hertfordshire & Jammbo he slowly began to warm up to the United Adaikes President, who promised to send an elite team of personality specialists & the like to see just how the number one country for autism acceptance & general neurodivergence acceptance does things. Clarkov takes immense pride in being autistic, amplified due to the time he was relentlessly bullied in secondary school for being autistic, so Luke pressed the right buttons there.

Now, don't tell him, but we've rummaged through Clarkov's special occasions drawer of online pictures that he looks at when he wishes to either calm down or enjoy himself. We do not apologize for the potential weirdness in these whatsoever, but think of it this way - not even Tsar Mečislavs is allowed to look through them. He is very private.

Online pictures we found in Clarkov's special occasions drawer - pictures of athletes, fanfics of athletes, AB/DL, age regression, fan-made drawings of athletes, memes, etc. were found - he hopes to be able to do these himself one day. Creators are unknown. Except for picture 6, the athletes themselves took that.

So with Clarkson, Hammond & May still not back after their frankly doomed protest, we thought we'd catch up on something and give you all a ranking of how our athletes performed day by day, starting with Day 1 below. Best to worst, from top to bottom based on position and how much they punched above their weight. Enjoy and an early goodbye before the late goodbye.

More stuff from Jammbonevych Furutani's special occasions drawer! Hah! This covert assault on the Prime Minister's privacy proves that I, Dio, should reign supreme over The Bauhaus Novel. Also, we wonder when Clarkson and the other two will return. The second picture really should be the HNJEK's spirit animal or something along that calibre.

Vrosa, Athurelia Province, Giovanniland—12:30 PM International Atomic Time, 30th October 1421

"Today's lunch tastes really delicious," said Angela to her husband Martin. "Thank you for making this rice with seafood, we haven't had one in a while."

"No problem", answered Martin. "How's the Esferiad going, by the way? I haven't got enough time to check it due to all my teaching work since we travelled to Quoriv two days ago.

"It's going really nice for Giovanniland," noted the younger son Joachim. "The nation earned 6 medals in day 5, we're now tied with Glenpavia for gold medals."

"And today looks promising so far," added the older son Augusto. "We've already won 89-54 against Larxia in basketball and three sets to zero against Tupmonia in volleyball."

"Awesome," thought Martin. "You know, I wish we had some time this weekend to watch some more games," he added.

"Same, but my friend Fernando invited me and Augusto to his Halloween party and we really didn't want to miss that," remarked Joachim.

"That's entirely fair, no worries," said Angela. "I can take care of driving you to and from his house later. Do you both have the costumes ready?", she asked.

The two brothers excitedly confirmed in unison. Some silence then happened as the family continued to have lunch.

Suddenly the silence was broken. "I've just thought, why don't we travel to Quoriv and possibly also Kharventhin next weekend? We could even watch the closing ceremony," proposed Joachim.

"And the final match of football!", added his older brother. "Although that's in Quoriv, so we'd have to watch it earlier and then go to Kharventhin."

"What do you all think of traveling to Quoriv on Friday, staying two nights there and of course watch some events during the weekend, and then going to Kharventhin for the closing ceremony before returning to Vrosa?", said Angela.

"I like the idea!", Martin replied before further adding, "I say, let's wait a bit until choosing the specific events we'll watch, so hopefully we spectate ones with Giovannilandian participation."

"Of course," Angela replied. Saying to her two children, "we'll book a room at a good Quoriv hotel while you two are in the Halloween party."

Everyone else agreed. The lunch continued without other major topics, with the two children excited about both the party and the upcoming travel to Quoriv.

Anarytha, Farlinevero Province, Giovanniland—16:00 PM International Atomic Time, 30th October 1421

"Dad, I've finished my school homework for Monday," said the 12-year-old Tomás. "Can we watch some Esferiad games?"

"Of course," his father Lorenzo answered. "Let's see what the TV is showing right now," added his mother Barbara.

"We're eight minutes in at the 10000m run! Lanino Hanyan from Glenpavia first, Martyn Giles from Cambria second, and Anastacio Fernandes from Giovanniland third!", said the narrator Alice Qwarnyi-Terra, head reporter of the Giovannilandian Esferiad Report's press corps at Quoriv.

"It seems Marko Cambraya is almost at the podium," said Barbara. "He achieved a silver medal at the last Esferiad, let's hope he performs like that or even better this time."

"Anastacio also competed before," added Lorenzo. "He was 20th place in the same event at the Saint-Josalyn Esferiad, seeing him at 3rd is very nice."

Five minutes later, the narrator told everyone watching: "Giovannilandian runner Marko Cambraya has just taken third place, Anastasio is now fourth. Will both able to secure a medal?", she added.

"I do hope that happens," thought Tomás. "Marko is very close to the Cambrian runner currently in second place too."

"Halfway through the 10 kilometer route, and Marko has taken second place! And that's just as Anastasio takes third, 2nd to 4th places are really close to each other! What an exciting competition!", Alice continued, and the family cheered as they closely watched.

The same positions at the podium continued for most of the run, although Marko was catching up to the Glenpavian runner then in first place. With three minutes left, the narrator noted: "Lanino and Marko are neck and neck, let's see who will get the gold medal!"

"Go Giovanniland!", cheered Tomás.

"And Giovanniland now controls 1st and 3rd places, as well as Ivone in 7th and Tiberio in 8th!", the narrator said with happiness.

"They are really close..." commented Barbara.

"I think it's less than one minute left, let's hope for the best result!", said Lorenzo.

Soon the narrator Alice exclaimed: "And Marko Cambraya from Giovanniland is the winner with 27 minutes and 6.9 seconds!" Eight seconds later, "Lanino Hanyan from Glenpavia arrives in 2nd place eight seconds later— and Anastacio Fernandes from Giovanniland is third place, four seconds after Lanino!"

The family again cheered, as the narrator then announced the names of the other athletes not in the podium as they arrived. They happily sang the Giovannilandian anthem in the medal ceremony soon after, although they soon went to do other things so they couldn't watch any other events.

Introduction to Hier

Hier is the official constitutional forum through which Jurisdicted subjects organize and petition the Prince on legislative, regulatory, and constitutional matters. The Hier is a unicameral institution and its members are those which are chosen to represent Jurisdictory Subjects, Juridical Trade Companies, and other Juridical Colleges of Nieubasria.

Historically, a Hier was a deliberative body of local Trades Masters and guild leaders called by nobles to confer on a specific issue or set of challenges. This continues today in a generalized manner, as the Prince calls Hier on “matters general to the ministry of the Estates”.

Hier is led by the Estates-Minister of Hier, appointed by the Prince as the executive officer of the duties of governance which are encompassed in Hier. The Estates-Minister of Hier is traditionally The Hierminister, typically the leader of the party/coalition with the plurality of seats in Hier. The daily business of Hier is conducted by the Dean, which enforces procedural rules and order in the House.

The members of Hier are referred to as “Delegates'' of their riding or College. There are currently approximately 480 Delegates. Riding Delegates to Hier often represent a political party, whereas a majority of College Delegates sit as crossbench or independent members. Elections of Riding Delegates are conducted by First-Past-the-Post voting. College Delegates are selected by the various Colleges or Professional Organizations which accredits members as Jurisdictors, either by election or appointment - these members have a full vote in the Hier and have served as Ministers or Privy Counsellors.

Hier has through tradition become a voice in the executive governance of Nieubasria by checking and questioning the actions of Estates-Ministers. By providing high-profile attention to an issue through Question Days or regular business, Hierministers (and by extension, Jurisdictors as a whole) can increasingly influence the decisions of previously inscrutable Estates-Ministers.

The 'Our Hier' Learning Series is jointly produced by the Hierminister of the Business and the Hier Research Services for the purpose of public education. Learn more about this program at ourhier.gov.nb.

"Congratulations on your Equestrian Team Silver, sir," Clarkson said while pouring the prince a brandy.

"Thank you, Clarkson. I guess I shouldn't be so down on myself for this year's Esferiad. Although we had several more Golds last year, we did earn more medals overall ... and there are still a couple of opportunities. I'm also glad that we were able to connect with a few of the other leaders. I'm excited about the Sultan's electric train proposal. This should be a boon to trade and tourism on Aura."

"Quite so, sir. Did you want me to invite the athletes' families to the Saint Mark Team Gala as you did last year, sir?"

"Yes, of course. They deserve the time to receive their nation's lauds and if it raises even half of what it did for the Special Esferiad as it did last year, it'll be wonderful."

"Quite so, sir."

Focus on Fencing

#fencing #fencers #epee #sport | Fence, Action poses, Poses

His Serene Highness, Prince Marcarius (left, in the air) and Kyle Hadjiivanov in the Quaterfinals

HSH, Marcarius, has shown marked improvement since last year's Esferiad, defeating both of his opponents in the Epee Individuals. He has become a master of the flèche, using his speed to surprise his opponent more often than not.

In a flèche, a fencer transfers their weight onto their front foot and starts to extend the arm. The rear leg initiates the attack, but the ball of the leading foot provides the explosive impulse that is needed to drive the fencer toward the opponent. Continuing to bring the weapon, arm, and front shoulder forward, the fencer picks up their back foot, crossing their front leg, and landing it in front of the other foot - as if taking an exaggerated walking stride. It is at this point, when the back foot lands and just after that arm has become fully extended, that the hit should be made.

After attempting the hit, the fencer continues to move forward, running past their opponent, to avoid the riposte if he or she was parried, or a counterattack. If the fencer moves past as quickly as possible, the opponent generally only has one chance to hit the fleching fencer as they pass.

Some fencers appear to be merely charging down the piste at an opponent at distance, but the flèche utilizes timing, not distance, and HSH has superb timing.

We anticipate some exciting fencing to come!

Inside an Abandoned Bunker with Disturbing Messages Left Scrawled on the Walls

57e6d1454e51a914f1dc8460962e33791c3ad6e04e50744172277fd7914bc3_640.jpgAn urban explorer who found an abandoned underground bunker in Irvon HIll shared photos of the bizarre findings when he went inside

By Matthew Rienks, Senior Writer & Camilla Kartright, Social Media Editor

An urban explorer has left people feeling disturbed after sharing photos inside an abandoned bunker showing "dark" messages left on the walls. The strange hideout was thought to have been discovered by Gill Lumley, who stumbled across it at the back of a plot of land in Irvon Hill, Morning Standard reports.

Images of the outside show a concrete block structure that you would never suspect to be hiding a underground room below, with no obvious entry point, but the urban explorer found a long metal ladder leading down to the strange bunker that now resembles something from a scene in a horror film.

[Right, Some people suggested the bunker was previously used by the Royal Ranging Corps]

Inside, there are a number of rooms with derelict technology apparatus, a bank vault, and an apparently lived-in ad hoc bedroom. In the 'bedroom' there's two rusted bed frames, one of which appears to still have a blanket laid on the metal springs, and a wooden cabinet that has been left to rot.

Previous visitors have left their own markings on the wall in series of bizarre drawings, including an angry stick man, a painting of a red and black tree landscape, and an image of a character who appears to be bleeding from the mouth. But the message leaving people freaked out online is scrawled above one of the beds, with an arrow pointing to a dark hole in the bunker wall, reading: "Crawl inside. It will give you a hug."

Off-Limits: Exploring Houston's Abandoned Places | Houstonia MagazineThe photos sparked the interest of other urban explorers while frightening social media users, with a few people commenting to say they wanted to visit the bunker themselves.

One said: "Looks like someone with a very dark mind was down there."

A second jokingly asked: "Aw that seems friendly, how was the hug?"

A third said: "I’m so deprived of human contact, I would of crawled inside, no hesitation."

Others were preoccupied trying to figure out what the bunker would have been previously built for, with some suggesting in the comments it was used by the Royal Ranging Corps, infamous for their clandestine espionage operations in the Second Northern War.

And someone else added: "Really is a shame every abandoned place gets trashed, some of these places in pristine condition could easily become attractions."

Do you think you know what the bunker is? Let us know in the comments.

An adaptive method based on contextual anomaly detection in Internet of Things through wireless sensor networks

By Bryn Merrick, University of Irvon Hill & Artur Vaughan, PhD Theoretical Physics

Abstract
With the widespread propagation of Internet of Things through wireless sensor networks, massive amounts of sensor data are being generated at an unprecedented rate, resulting in very large quantities of explicit or implicit information. When analyzing such sensor data, it is of particular importance to detect accurately and efficiently not only individual anomalous
An example of temporal anomaly. behaviors but also anomalous events (i.e. patterns of behaviors). However, most previous work has focused only on detecting anomalies while generally ignoring the correlations between them. Even in approaches that take into account correlations between anomalies, most disregard the fact that the anomaly status of sensor data changes over time. In this article, we propose an unsupervised contextual anomaly detection method in Internet of Things through wireless sensor networks. This method accounts for both a dynamic anomaly status and correlations between anomalies based contextually on their spatial and temporal neighbors. We then demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method in an anomaly detection model. The experimental results show that this method can accurately and efficiently detect not only individual anomalies but also anomalous events

Giovannilandian Esferiad Report - 7th Day
11 Gold - 8 Silver - 10 Bronze

Sports Report Newsroom, Giovannistadt—8:00 AM International Atomic Time, 1st November 1421

Good morning Giovanniland! I am Carlos Nakamura-Edristyn, the host of the Giovannilandian Esferiad Report. Yesterday was a very eventful day in the Esferiad, with Giovanniland gaining two of each medal type for a total of six, and most notably tying Blue Bubble in the total medal count! This means that we're now first in both rankings, due to having three more gold medals than our neighbors. In this report I'll of course talk about the events that brought us these medals and the others that happened today.

Firstly, the events in Kharventhin! The 10 km Marathon Swim featured swimmers Lavinia Vrosbert, Sarah Yorbal de Amir, Giovanni Amdo-Gyamtso, who finished 3rd, 5th and 7th respectively, meaning that Giovanniland achieved a bronze medal. Meanwhile, Beach Volleyball athletes Alexandre Elysthin-Zhao & Elisabeth Sanchez won against Frisk Dachev & Robert Spïďwagen in the semifinals, and will now receive either a silver or a gold medal. We'll know which medal it is later today, after their match against Glenpavian athletes Olukayode Pinho & Imaculada Ventura! In the Matchday 7 of Water Polo, Giovanniland won 8-5 against Teralyon and will face Nieubasria in the quarterfinals, while in Matchday 2 of Indoor Volleyball our team again dominated all three sets of a match, this time against Fhaengshia.

In Quoriv, many more events happened, and I'll start by the team events. Our Baseball team won 3-1 against Cambria in the semifinals, and will now play against their neighbors Nieubasria in the gold medal match. Our Basketball team scored a convincing 94-59 win against Dilber in the last group stage matchday, finishing first in the group with 15 points and a strong performance of 515 points for and 387 points against across all matches, and they will face the team from Arifiyyah next. The Handball and Lacrosse teams both played against United Adaikes, with the former losing 24-30 but the latter winning 10-4. Finally, three other team events had their debuts yesterday—Giovanniland won 3-2 against Tupmonia in Field Hockey, while in Football and Rugby Sevens the Giovannilandian teams had byes.

As for individual events, there were two and both were part of athletics. In the Discus Throw, all three athletes Alcione Qwarnyi, Rosangela Ebrentell, and Clara Razlyen-Vrosa passed through the qualifying, notably taking that stage's first three places, in that order. In the final, however, they finished with 1st, 2nd, and 4th places respectively. A very strong finish, nevertheless, and it's worth noting that Alcione established a new Esferic record! As for the 110m Hurdles event, Barbara Gautchyn, Cyro Wilsim de Sousa, Diogo Clegouskya, and Ernesto Arveredo-Amorant all participated and went to the final. There, they managed Giovanniland's first podium sweep—Ernesto first, Diogo second, and Cyro third! Barbara barely missed the podium with one hundredth of a second less than Cyro, but fourth place is also a very good finish. We can all agree that this has been the best Giovannilandian performance so far!

After this very successful day, Giovanniland now has 29 medals, the same amount held by co-hosts Blue Bubble. And since we're halfway through the Esferiad, the Giovannilandian Esferiad Report decided to make an interesting graph about our medals so far! The columns of the graph show the medals gained each day, and the total height of each stacked column also informs that day's total. Meanwhile, the lines show our progress throughout the Esferiad, both by each medal type and the grand total. We can see some curious tidbits here, for example the fact that we've consistently gained 2 gold medals every day since Day 3, and that since Day 4 at least one of each medal type has been achieved. The graph is of course available in the web for viewers' perusal.

Following this retrospective, it's now time to talk about future events! Firstly, these are the upcoming events happening in Kharventhin:

Swimming Individual All-Arounds and Swimming Team All-Arounds;
Stage 1 of Freestyle Wrestling featuring Gilmar Opheryk-Sousa, Ulysses Yang Schmidt, and Shirley Koymcarrill;
Final of Beach Volleyball featuring Alexandre Elysthin-Zhao & Elisabeth Sanchez;
Matchday 3 of Indoor Volleyball and Quarterfinals of Water Polo (team events);

Furthermore, the Karate Kata and Fencing Épée Individual events will also happen, but Giovanniland will not participate. Meanwhile, the events in Quoriv will be:

Gymnastics Floor Exercise featuring Luciano Annabelle-Taspein, Solange Souza Kandray, Silvana Mantovani, Isaias Delchiaro-Varenbert, and Romeo Saramay Mateus;
Final of Baseball, Quarterfinals of Basketball, Matchday 4 of Handball, Matchday 4 of Lacrosse, Matchday 2 of Field Hockey, Matchday 2 of Football, and Matchday 2 of Rugby Sevens (team events);

Those are the events that will happen during the eighth day of Esferic events! Anyone can watch them on the channels 201 to 210, with members of our monthly subscription also able to check recordings available at sportsreport.com.gl/esferiad/ii/events if unable to watch live. That is all for today, and see you tomorrow for the next report!

Is Fencing Like Sword Fighting?

203-is-fencing-like-sword-fighting.jpg

The 5 Main Differences Between Sword Fighting and Fencing:

The Reach of the Definition
The Importance of Technique
The Weapons
The Clothing
The Rules

1. The Reach of the Definition
A sword fight is an act of combat where the opponents use swords to attack and defend.

Fencing, on the other hand, comes from the word defense. It is the art of defending yourself using a weapon.

Emphasis is put first and foremost on keeping yourself from getting hit at all. Unlike sword fighting, fencing doesn’t have to be done with swords. Any weapon can be used in the art of defense.

2. The Importance of Technique
Sword fighting is much less worried about skill or technique. The most important thing about sword fighting is to take out an opponent as quickly as possible.

You aren’t as concerned about where your feet are, as long as you’re swinging your weapon in the right direction.

Fencing is all about skill and technique. There is a lot of work that goes into the sport of fencing, and it takes a lot of training to become efficient at it.

Fencing is much more delicate than sword fighting and showcases the use of footwork and subtle movements.

3. The Weapons
While the three weapons used in fencing today were derived from historical swords, they no longer resemble their predecessors very closely. The swords used in fencing competition are unique to the sport, and each is made for a certain purpose.

There are three disciplines of fencing: foil, épée and sabre. According to historical records, the foil started from military training, the épée was developed from swordsmanship duels, and the sabre can be traced back to the cavalry.

Each discipline has its own specific targets and rules, as well as different competitive characteristics:

● Foil

The foil, which weighs about 500g, is the lightest among the three weapons, and the weapon of choice for most beginners. A foil fencer scores only by hitting the opponent's torso with the blade tip. As the foil is lighter and has fewer targets than both épée and sabre, it demands better techniques and strategies.

● Épée

The major difference between foil and épée is that the épée is heavier and has a larger target area. The fencer scores a touché when the weapon tip or blade touches the opponent's head, limbs or torso.

In competitions, only stabs, not slashes, are allowed. Defence is essential – as the whole body is a valid target area, fencers need to be highly skilled to fend off their opponents' attacks. As the fencers shift back-and-forth between attack and defence, the épée match has the slowest pace among the three disciplines.

● Sabre

The sabre is also known as the soldier's sword. In competitions, you can thrust and cut your opponent, and the target area is everywhere above the waist (including the head and armpits).

As the sabre discipline has a large range of movements, and demands quick and strong attacks, the fencers' footwork and responses to strategy changes are key to winning.

Sword fighting makes use of training and actual swords that replicate the swords used in the past. They are more representative of what would have been used by men on the field of battle. There’s not a need for specialized weaponry.

4. The Clothing
Sword fighting has no guidelines on what you should wear when sword fighting. There may be costumes worn if sword fighting is taking place in a reenactment setting.

It’s possible to engage in a sword fight whatever the occasion. Hopefully, proper safety precautions are always taken.

In fencing, there is a very strict uniform that must be adhered to, especially in competition. The fencing uniform is widely recognized and features a jacket, mask, glove, and other components that help keep the fencer safe.

5. The Rules
A fencing bout is regulated and restricted by a set of rules everyone must abide by. These rules include things like who has the right-of-way and a certain area the fencers must stay inside (see also above). Because it is a sport, these rules must be followed to ensure fairness.

Sword fighting is much less restricted. As a general pastime, sword fighting can be done in different ways.

Grand Esferic Stadium, Quoriv, Giovanniland—16:00 PM International Atomic Time, 31st October 1421

"So, we did it!", said 110m Hurdles bronze-medalist Cyro to his fellow athletes Barbara Gautchyn, Diogo Clegouskya, and Ernesto Arveredo-Amorant. "We've brought one of the best performances ever in an Esferiad event for our nation, dominating the podium and also holding fourth place."

"Indeed," noted Barbara. "Even if I wasn't able to get a medal, fourth place is still very nice and my score was nearly the same as you Cyro."

"Honestly, the gold medal I received was unexpected," thought Ernesto. "I mean, I did work for it, but I've always thought of Cyro and Diogo as a tad better."

"Nevertheless," remarked Diogo, "it's time to celebrate anyways! Let's go back to the Esferic Village, I'm sure the rest of the Giovannilandian athletes are awaiting for us, and then we can have a nice dinner to celebrate."

Just as they were leaving, a crew of reporters stopped them. One of them said: "Hello! I am Gabriel from the Quoriv Quotidian — a local newspaper of our city that seeks to report about daily news. I think many Quorivians and Giovannilandians have already heard of your impressive victory in the 110m Hurdles event, and if you all don't mind, we'd like to ask you a few questions."

"Sure, I think we all would be glad to answer," answered Ernesto. The others quickly agreed.

"Great! So, first question: how did you all find professional sport as something to dedicate time on?

Barbara decided to answer: "We all have different backgrounds, I'm sure. For example, I come from the southern Giovannilandian city of Violet Harbor, while Diogo and Ernesto are both from Giovannistadt, and I think Cyro is a native Quorivian. But in regards to how we found sport, I think we all share the same story of our sports teachers thinking of us as possibly future athletes based on our performances back then, and encouraging us to go further. Then, by putting a lot of time and effort, we started winning regional tournaments until being noticed by the national Esferic Committee and then deciding to participate."

"Nice answer!", the reporter thought. "Did any of you know each other before then?"

"Myself and Ernesto are high school friends, but otherwise no, we only got to know each other after the Giovannilandian roster for the Esferiad was released a few months ago and we had a chance of knowing our fellow competitors of this same sport," said Diogo.

"I see, did any of you also participate in international tournaments like the Esferiad before?"

Cyro answered, "I think I am the only one that participated in the previous Esferiad, although not in 110m hurdles—in the 100m run of the Saint-Josalyn Summer Esferiad, I finished 7th in the final with a time of 11.04 seconds. I also took part in the 100m run here in Quoriv, but did not earn a medal either. My first Esferiad medal has been this one."

"As for myself and Diogo, we have taken part of international athletic tournaments before but did not achieve a medal. Within Giovanniland, though, I'm sure all of us have already excelled, as it made us known to the Committee," said Ernesto. Barbara also agreed.

"That does sound like a very impressive story," the reporter Gabriel remarked. "Two more questions, how are you feeling after this very successful event, and what are your sports plans in the future?"

"It felt really nice to be part of Giovanniland's first podium-sweep, our Glenpavian neighbors had one earlier in this Esferiad and now we've got one as well, after several events where Giovanniland barely missed it. Nevertheless, getting the medal is only part of the fun, as we all like participating even if we don't get something. Barbara, for example, barely missed the podium, but I'm sure she is also celebrating with us," said Cyro.

"As for our future plans," thought Barbara, "we're all still pretty young—none of us has 30 years or more—so I'm sure we still have a lot of our sporting career ahead. Of course, due to our success, I wouldn't be surprised if we're also given the opportunities to participate in other international tournaments or even future Esferiads, and I think all of us would gladly accept. I am glad to see our country succeed in the Esferiad, and hopefully we will see many more medals in the coming days."

"Thank you for those insightful answers," said the reporter. "It seems as our time is up, but tomorrow this interview will probably make a front page headline in our newspaper, and I hope many people will read it. Thank you again!"

The crew then traveled back to their newspaper headquarters, while the four athletes then had a special dinner celebration. This excellent performance would surely be a story to count for their future families, and an inspiration for many present and future Giovannilandian athletes.

COMMENTARY

"Gooooooooood evening! I'm Lex Lascar, coming at you live for all you lovely Orandians tuning in tonight. We have some special guests this evening, it's the Orandian gymnastics team!" [He pauses for applause.] "Please give them a warm welcome, it's Roméo Azaïs, Jules Beaufils, Celeste Blanc, and Lisa Zenik!"

[More applause. Jules blows a kiss to the audience, Lisa waves enthusiastically, Roméo does a little twirl, and Celeste simply stands quietly.]

"If you will, I have a couple of questions for you all. First off–what region of Orandia are you from?"

Julius: "I'm from Haute-Claire. I've lived there my whole life."

Lisa: "I am a proud Emblian!"

Roméo: "I'm from Cople, but I trained in Montrose."

Celeste: "I'm from Montrose, too. Well, not 'too'."

"Moving on! What event are you most confident in?"

Julius: "Definitely the floor exercise, for me. I could crawl out of bed and do that routine."

Roméo: "Rings. Not a lot of people are comfortable with them, but I am."

Lisa: "Uneven bars! I've got a unique trick I've been practicing for ages. But I can't tell you what it is! I want to surprise people."

Celeste: "I'm not sure... if I had to pick one, I'd say the beam."

"All right, last question. If you could say one thing to any aspiring gymnasts out there, what would it be?"

Julius: "You gotta work hard, that way, nothing can stop you!"

Celeste: "Believe in yourself. You're stronger than you think."

Roméo: "Lean into the uncomfortable. Also, get enough sleep."

Lisa: "Only you can be you. Whatever you do, stay true to yourself."

"That was... actually genuine life advice. Thanks, you four! I think I'm going home to re-evaluate my life after all this.

One last time, it's the Orandian gymnastics team! After the break, we check in on swimmer Martin Garness in hospital after a nasty shoulder injury. I'll see you then!"

LOOKING AHEAD–DAY EIGHT

- Swimming individual and team all-arounds take place.

- Gymnasts Roméo Azaïs, Jules Beaufils, Celeste Blanc, and Lisa Zenik perform in the floor exercise.

- The Orandian water polo team plays Cambria in the quarterfinals.

- Match day three for the Orandian indoor volleyball team arrives.

The Bauhaus Novel - Conversation Street - Episode 8: WANTED = Clarkson, Hammond & May

Rab44676142658e0add5c12b56b3f5a8f.png.b52fa34a59cca0d3daf7d96c39437875.thumb.png.24b52633c311c6955fa1a98ae64809a3.png

Yeah, Clarkson, Hammond & May still haven't returned. Who among the audience bets that they've been arrested by local authorities? We're beginning to think they were. So because of this, we have no hosts. That's why the format introduced last episode will stay for the foreseeable future and yes, that includes our sneaky reveal of the patented Special Occasions Drawer of Fabled Fields (SOD OFF). This will last until they return, or until a creepy organ sound effect plays. That heralds Clarkov arriving out of nowhere. It also means no intriguing intros, so deal with it!

Also, we know we're way behind with this, cut us some slack.

Day 2 of the S.O.D.O.F.F. reveals. Clarkov will be fuming, but he's too shy and too intelligent to try and stop us. Trust us, he and we both know how the internet works. [OOC: Actual pictures, mostly found on DeviantArt, that the asexual boy behind H&J loves.]

Now we apologize for showing you this late, but Kramer fell asleep on air so this is actually a filmed set-up. On that note, some say our camera vision includes infrared, ultraviolet & evergreen, and that we speak Giovannilandian in Glendulan. All we know is, we're clots because the event schedule is below instead of above. Goodnight. [falls asleep]
