"Hello, everyone! From Steskia, United Adaikes, we at Santo-Dominian Cable-Satellite Network Channel 3 bring you live coverage of the 1st World Cup of Football! Our coverage of WCF1 is brought to you by our generous sponsor, Dominion Philanthropies, a subsidiary of Dominion Bank of Santos-Dominius. I, Approctoflecticus Blubberman, will be your host for the entire duration of WCF1. And we've just received news that the Match Day 3 has concluded and the results have been released to everyone! Let's go over them and analyse the WCF1 situation. Starting with Group A, let's look at this graphic."

1755107808_WFC1MD3GpA.thumb.png.c4043de5426a9dc34ca951c437d21966.png

"And we're seeing almost the exact opposite of Match Day 2, as Match Day 3 has a lot of victories and only one tie throughout the entire day! In Group A's first match, Fujai manages to cement their status as a leading country in the competition by beating Teralyon in a 3-1 win. In the second match, Nagaraningrad fails to defeat the host country and leading competitor, United Adaikes, with their match ending in a 1-2 loss for the former. In the third match, Fuentana handily wins against the Provisional Auran Team in a splendid 5-0 victory. Now, let's move on to Group B!"

1396473186_WFC1MD3GpB.thumb.png.fe428c1fd837072798c59139e7b67caa.png

"Just like Group A, Group B also has no matches ending in a draw on Match Day 3! Starting with the first match, Pallandole barely loses to Fhaengshia in a close match that ends with a 2-3 loss for the former. In the second match, Larxia successfully defeats the football team from Giovanniland in a 3-1 victory that puts the latter on the bottom of Group B. In the third match, the strong players from Dalimbar unexpectedly lost to Libterraria in a relatively surprising 0-1 defeat. Now, let's move on to Group C!"

1031633060_WFC1MD3GpC.thumb.png.a33ffc6a99b6626ab37054680d6b1a7d.png

"And in Group C, we also have no matches that end in a tie! Seems like today is quite a decisive day, indeed. In the first match, one between the "I" nations of WCF1, Irador scores a 1-0 victory against Italia, solidifying its place in the competitive field of WCF1. In the second match, Arifiyyah inflicts a 1-0 defeat on the strong nation of Zoran, breaking its consecutive winning streak of 2 matches. In the third match, Hertfordshire & Jammbo's strong performance leads them to victory against their opponents from Reçueçn. Finally, let's move on to Group D!"

1780938882_WFC1MD3GpD.thumb.png.910067b5d609389dfa7e25c419b49c20.png

"And in Group D, we find the sole match in the entire Match Day 3 that ends in a draw - the first match, where Nieubasria and Alchera both fail to score against each other, resulting in a 0-0 tie. In the second match, our home country of Santos-Dominius pulls ahead of the strong country of Dilber, winning a 1-0 victory against heavy odds. In the third match, the exceptionally strong players from Badgeria are given a wake-up call after losing 0-2 to the currently stronger team from Tara & Cambray! Now, let's review the situation and analyse the current rankings and positions."

"After Match Day 3, in Group A, Fujai and United Adaikes both lead the pack with 7 points overall, while Fuentana and Teralyon are close behind. Nagaraningrad and the Provisional Auran Team are losing, however, and will have to give a strong performance in their upcoming respective matches if they want to stay in the competition. In Group B, Fhaengshia and Libterraria are the best-performing teams currently while Larxia and Dalimbar stand strong in the middle of the pack. Pallandole and Giovanniland, however, on the edge of being eliminated and will have to claw their way back into the competition if they want to win."

"In Group C, Arifiyyah and Hertfordshire & Jammbo are the leading players in the struggle to win WCF1. Zoran and Irador are close behind as well, demonstrating that they are also worthy of victory as well. Reçueçn and Irador, however, are under threat of being eliminated and must do their best if they aspire to survive and thrive. In Group D, Tara & Cambray is the strongest football team, while Badgeria and our home country Santos-Dominius are close behind, with Nieubasria also holding its own against its opponents. Unfortunately, Dilber and Alchera may very well be eliminated from the competition, and will have perform exceptionally in the remaining matches to overtake the aforementioned rivals to take the win."

"And that is it for Match Day 3! Congratulations to the leading teams and players, and a 'Good Job' to the teams who are able to hold their own and fend off the threat of elimination. I also give warm encouragement to the teams and countries who may not be doing so well right now, for they still have a few chances to show their strength and excel in the upcoming matches. I'm Approctoflecticus Blubberman, and this was Match Day 3 of the 1st World Cup of Football. Stay tuned to SDCSN Channel 3 for coverage of the WCF, and see you tomorrow!"

"Hello Giovanniland! Here's your host for the 1st World Cup of Football, Vanessa Desniowynsk, bringing you more news about this tournament directly from Steskia, United Adaikes. Unfortunately, the news I have to deliver is not good for any Giovannilandian watching either at home or here in United Adaikes: our team has lost the match against Larxia and is now placed last in Group B."

"The game started with a goal by striker Gustavo Goethe Zapata after 15 minutes of fierce attempts by both sides. However, this was probably the only good part of the match for Giovannilandians because the Larxian team scored just 3 minutes after and drew the game. The score did not change for the remainder of the first half, despite more attempts by Giovanniland and Larxia." Vanessa then stops talking in order to show both goals scored in the first half, and some other close goal attempts and defenses. She then continues, "Larxia then scored 12 minutes into the second half, after our keeper Clovis Espindola initially prevented a ball from entering the goal but did not hold it, thus giving it to a Larxian player and failing to defend a second time. A third Larxian goal was scored near the end, which settled the final score and relegated Giovanniland to the last place in Group B as the other team defeated in Matchday 3, Pallandole, lost by a smaller margin."

Carlos Nakamura-Edristyn then appears on the screen from the Giovannistadt Sports Studio. "This was yet another retrospective for another 1st World Cup of Football matchday, and I will now be exploring the chances Giovanniland has in order to qualify even with only two draws and one loss so far. In other Matchday 3 games of Group B, Fhaengshia and Pallandole had a close match but the former won by one point, putting them first in the group; whereas the match between Dalimbar and Libterraria resulted in a 1-0 win for the latter, something which must please quite a lot of Giovannilandians. Now thinking about the future, Giovanniland still has matches against the Libterrarians and Dalimbari in Matchdays 4 and 5 respectively. Ideally, we should win both in order to fight back and earn a spot in the knockout rounds, or else risk elimination. Let's hope Giovanniland-"

"No, don't jinx it!" says a viewer off screen, "every time you say Giovanniland should win it either loses or draws. Let's just see what happens."

Carlos then replies, "Alright, fine. Anyways, this is all I've got to present today so instead I hope that you all have a good day. Tune in tomorrow for another Giovannilandian Football Report!", he finishes as the screen switches to sports-unrelated news as scheduled.

Pallandole opened the first half but the scoring was opened by Larxia. Silva puts a through ball to Garcia, who chips it over the keeper to make it 1-0 in the 27th minute. The rest of the half goes by without any goals, though both teams came very close to scoring.

In the second half, Larxia controlled the play most of the time. Pallandole manage to get it through the sturdy Larxian defense. They make it 1-1 in the 62nd minute. The coach takes Aviero out of play in the 80th minute. Fati takes his place on the field. Fati cuts in from the left wing and curls it in towards the top right corner. It's in. Fati makes it 2-1 in the 88th minute. Smart substitution by Guardiola. You can see the King cheering them on with pride. The 4th official indicates 4 minutes of stoppage time. That's the final whistle. Larxia wins two goals to one. The second win for Larxia in the World Cup sees them rising to the top of Group B.

HT: LXA 1-0 PAL

FT: LXA 2-1 PAL

We managed to snag a chance to talk to King Maddy IV. On being asked how he felt seeing Larxia perform, he said," It is definitely a matter of pride to watch Larxia just perform on the international stage, and what fills me with even more pride is that they are performing very well. It feels good to see that the money being invested in sports infrastructure is benefitting our nation's athletes. I'm confident in our team. I'll only ask every Larxian to pray that the team does very well in the tournament, and come here. They will feel good if there are Larxian fans in the stands," he further added," I know that many Larxians have come here to watch them play, but who doesn't like having more fans in the stadium.

Larxia will face fellow Andolian nation Fhaengshia in the last game of the group stages. Fhaengshia have been in great form as well as they sit in second place with 6 points. This match will determine who wins Group B. So let's pray for a Larxian victory.

Pre-Match Review

Hello and welcome to the matchday 4 review. As you all know, this review will tackle the match we played against Irador. We must warn you, it is highly unlikely that you will be prepared for what is to come in this report. To be honest, the events that unfolded during the match came as a shock to not only the HAJFF, but to Irador as well. not to mention practically everyone keeping tabs on the events more than likely couldn't believe what they were seeing. Seriously, nothing could have prepared either team for the absolute disaster of a game that we had to endure. Did the calamity that unfolded yesterday hurt team mentality? Surely that wasn't it, no signs of mental degrading was found by Sports Therapist Vekar Griķis. We simply cannot find any feasible explanation for our devastating defeat, so we will just chock it down to a combination of atrocious luck on our end and an outlandishly brilliant performance on the Iradorian end. Make no mistake though, we will not take this lying down, therefore we would like all reading to ask themselves a simple question. Will the HAJFF do anything in it's power, no matter how unconventional it is, in order to aim for the winner's spot in this World Cup of Football? Let that surge through your minds, while we prepare to begin the review of the ill-fated match itself.

1376384605_S1E05B_Of_course_we_are.png.36f467ed2a5b0e3fab0be7239309a49a.png

In reference to the question just earlier, we think this photo taken in one of the hotel rooms (not that of the person in the photo, fans know who it is) demonstrates our point well enough. Of course we are. Nothing else could be expected coming from us lot.

First Half Review

Irador, being the technical 'home' side here, were the ones to start the match. Now they have a very defensive style, while we have a rather offensive style. Naturally both teams expected it to be a case of Iradorian defence versus Hertfordian attack. Whichever one was superior on the day would determine whether the results would be a near goalless encounter or a potential massacre courtesy of the Paradigm Compass. The former seemed like the more probable one, though with how many goals have come in matches involving us lot, the latter was not something to be thrown out the window completely. Early in the first half, the resident Yama ended up having to begin a stint on the side-lines due to a foul committed by Osel who saw a yellow card for his actions. Too bad for her, she can't hand down a damning verdict on the culprit given that they are not under her jurisdiction. On for the Yamaxanadu came Mettaton EXH, the greatest creation of a scientist who acts as the successor to one of our players, W. D. Gavrilov. Everywhere is a stage for this robot with a soul. Roughly midway through the first half, someone called Inkase successfully scored with a simple strike that needs no further explanation. Certainly that came as a surprise given that until then we had been the ones bombarding them with attacks. A counter-attack is probably what happened. That seems reasonable. After that, we upped the anti landing more painful blows to the Iradorian back line who were beginning to crumble under the relentless pressure. But in the 38th minute, someone on Irador, namely Yedmida, had an epiphany. Why were they constantly defending and allowing themselves to take this ruthless pattern of play from the HAJFF?! At any moment the defensive wall would be breached and then it ran the major risk of being turned into a slaughter. He discussed the plan with his teammates, the full-backs Matsjen & Oskoc, and set it into motion following a crossbar shot by the HAJFF. Yedmida quickly rushed forward ball in tow stunning all in the Irador camp including the unhappy looking manager. But the full-backs knew the plan. They successfully cut in behind midfield lines before Matsjen somehow hoofed a long ball to Oskoc on the other side of the pitch, catching the HAJFF defenders off guard and slotting one in past goalkeeper Hart Vortex to make it 2-0 to Irador. Imagine our shock! Even the usually expressionless Manager Frisk Dachev was surprised. Certainly the opposition were too. Half time arrived quicker than expected and through 2 out of nowhere goals Irador had a somewhat commanding lead over the Paradigm Compass. Tactics and formation patterns would need to be altered in order to turn things around. As for Irador, watching that second goal might have given them a rebellious thought, one that involves saying 'screw that' to the teams entire tactical structure. It was obvious that this new approach was working. We can't say for sure though, because we are not them. We are us. Obvious statement of the century there.

Second Half Review

With many a thing changing and many a thing staying completely the same, we decided it was high time to begin the second half. We began it in style, quickly turning the pitch into a stage show for the fans of both teams, but primarily our fans, to sit on the edge of their seats at the exciting football being utilized by the HAJFF. Of course, all shows need a star to be at the centre, and who better than the Paradigm Compass's resident performer and robot with a SOUL Mettaton EXH. Let's face it, everyone was focused on him from the beginning of the second half right up to when he brought one back for us with those colossal legs of his. Honestly, those legs could probably crush a rock between them. No wonder the ratings went through the roof. Unfortunately we could not make a show out of the remainder of the match, because Irador appeared to have decided to abandon all defensive reason and just go full on attack rampage. Whether their staff actually agreed to this, or if it was even like that at all. No matter what it was, this Irador team was different from the team that only scored 1 goal in their previous 3 matches. This one seemed to be a completely different animal. If the old Irador was an unmoving brick wall that let few through, then the new Irador was a road roller being plunged from on high, most likely by a bisexual vampire bloke screaming WRYYYYYYYYYY! At least, that's what our minds envision. Rightly so too, as Irador soon made it 3-1 as substitute Kampps scored a wonderful effort after beating right defender W. D. Gavrilov despite the many, er, floating hands? OK then, we guess. He is a formal royal scientist for King Mečislavs I so he probably found a way to do... that. We'll show a picture to demonstrate what we are talking about after the second half review is done. With the two goal disadvantage restored, morale threatened to collapse but the managing duo Frisk Dachev & Flandre Sotirova were having none of that b------- [CENSORED]. After a lengthy talk to the whole team, their morale was restored and a new determination to fight on was wrought. It almost paid off, for the Paradigm Compass came close numerous times, even hitting the crossbar or post a whopping 4 times in the span of 10 minutes. It is rather depressing to write then that Inkase scored his second goal for Irador that day to pretty much put the game to bed. Still, we kept on fighting. Even if we were going to lose, we would go out fighting. The fans undoubtedly wouldn't like it if our lot just keeled over and died in the face of a shock massacre. As the game reached its climax, Ike decided he had to test his teammates patience again and fouled a member of the opposition while backtracking all the way to the final third to help the defence. He was booked, now holding the risk of being replaced in the first team permanently by Galeem Gaisma. A threat unlikely to go through. Yevovic stepped up for the Irador free kick in a dangerous position. He booted it in after it deflected off W. D. Gavrilov's tall and slim body structure. 5-1 to Irador, with what turned out to be the final kick of the game. This was utterly humiliating on so many levels. Irador quickly chocked it up to incredibly good luck but a performance like that just doesn't warrant the good luck explanation. The look of surprise and awe on their faces said it all really, they were not expecting this result to happen either, not even remotely close. We have no more things to say about it, the match really speaks for itself. Full time.

11e04fa179361c87e2f71c9bf8b05ea039ce2155r1-1334-750v2_uhq.thumb.jpg.653abe129617d3e0c0d619f72be8ad36.jpg

These are those many hands we were on about earlier. Lots of colours, huh. Probably mechanical. They do look eerily realistic though.

Post-Match Review

Like we said earlier, this game supposedly had the luck factor involved but we simply can't deflect onto that after that embarrassing defensive display. We knew our defence wasn't the best but that really did take the cake. Eiki is out for 6 matches with a medial collateral ligament sprain. Therefore, Mettaton EXH will be on in her place. Meanwhile the recoveries of Damian Hristov, Satori Kornijchuk and Satoshi Melderis are progressing smoothly. Bello Jēkabsons has fully recovered from his own injury in a slightly quicker time than expected. Turning to the group stage table now, that loss means we sit 4th place with 6 points. Arifiyyah are on top and with 1 hand firmly on the concept of winning Group C entirely. Irador, who scored 5 of their 6 goals against us, are in 2nd with 7 points while Zoran remain 3rd following a 2-0 defeat to Reçueçn, who sit in 5th with 5 points breathing down both ours and Zoran's necks heavily, as well as Irador's neck slightly. Oh and if anyone questions why we put the teams the other way round in the result to the official order (in which we were the 'away' side), we are going by the first match order posted by the Adaikesian hosts which pit 5 (us) as the 'home' team in the match and 6 (Irador) as the 'away' team. We are not changing that, deal with it.

Next Time...

The next match is the final match of the group stages. We are up against Zoran. This team appear to be having political-based problems in relations between the manager and the players who have been making their own politically charged statements which has angered the higher ups at the NACZ from what we're seeing. Not that we truly know anything about it, we don't pay attention to Zoranian politics. Not even the civil war raging there though we do prefer the monarchists.

Guess what, we have no more stuff to say! On that complete non-bombshell it is time to end. We thank you all for watching, we're off to get very drunk, goodnight!

Zoranian Times Live!

On the screen Quiyakaso looks disheveled and is covered in white feathers from what can only be assumed to be from the Dilberian seagulls. He sighed before speaking in a monotone voice,

"Hello Zoran, I am Quiyakaso and I am here to report the past few matches because I was too busy being attacked by drugged up seagulls that followed me from Dilber. Now with that out of the way, let's look at the match against Arrifiyah, out team lost 1-0 after a blade in one of the keeper's shoes went off and embedded itself into the field, causing the keeper to fall over and be unable to block the incoming ball. The Zoranian team congratulates Arrifiyah on their victory. Then in last night's match, our team lost to Recuecn 0-2 after our team failed to control the midfield and were defeated by Recuecn's offensive. The team also congratulated Recuecn on their victory, but rumor has it that the NACZ is not pleased with the team's performance or their political statements that they have been making recently. I asked the coach how he felt about the teams performance he replied with a simple shrug. But when asked what he is going to do to ensure the team progresses in the tournament he responded by saying, 'We will win by any means necessary, we aren't just going to beat the team, we are going to decommission them...permanently.' The members of the Zoranian team do not seem to agree with the coach's statement saying that they will play to the best of their abilities and that all they care about in the end is the game and their countrymen."

Quiyakaso pulls out his phone for a second only for it to start filling up with Nieubasrian ads.

"Damn it! This is what happens when I decide to stop paying for ad blockers! Grrr now it will take me hours to close them all out!"

Quiyakaso continues to grumble about the Nieubasrian ads until the NACZ logo appears on the screen.

Hvar Vi Ikkje Er // Where We Aren't // 1

Mess Hall, KV Sjøfell, Zoradia Harbor

"GO FOR THE SHOT!!! THERE'S NO MORE TIME!!!" Elin screamed, listening to the announcer as Tosin Dawar rush toward the Nagaraningrad goal on the mess radio.

They didn't go for it.

"NOOoo WHY WHY!??!" they yelled again, surrounded by half a dozen similarly yelling Fujar.

Dawar passed to Hellem, and by the time they had gotten close enough for another pass, time was up. Elin slumped down into their chair as the referee called full time at 92 minutes, the others doing the same or beginning to wander the hall in despair. They leaned back in the rickety folding chair and ran their fingers through their hair, sighing loudly.

Hege turned from their seat, "Was the match really that big a deal? I thought were already doing well?"

"Well...yeah but it always helps to have more wins." Elin said, looking at the ceiling, "After the other matches finish today we'll know better how it looks."

"Ahh, alright, everyone was so into it I thought there was more to it," Hege said,

"Well yeah! It's hard not to get into it!" Elin replied, "I know it's not your thing and all, but it's fun to cheer on the team, y'know? To feel a part of something happening across the world."

Hege smiled, "Oh I get it, I'm just more interested in the whole thing except the match itself. The whole world coming together, even in the midst of such hardship, is nice..." They paused, looking into nothing, "Maybe though...the world could be more focused on finding peace here instead of...creating a distraction somewhere else..."

Elin looked down, thinking, and sighed, "Can't say you're wrong there."

"Hello, everyone! From Steskia, United Adaikes, we at Santo-Dominian Cable-Satellite Network Channel 3 bring you live coverage of the 1st World Cup of Football! Our coverage of WCF1 is brought to you by our generous sponsor, +238flowers, because every occasion needs some flowers. I, Approctoflecticus Blubberman, will be your host for the entire duration of WCF1. And we've just received news that the Match Day 4 has concluded and the results have been released to everyone! Let's look at the results and analyse the general situation of the competition. Let's start with Group A and look at this graphic."

1680621352_WFC1MD4GpA.thumb.png.a167be5d4dc800068ad0d0a8d45ecc8f.png

"In Group A, we've got some typical matches. In the first match, Teralyon manages to beat the team from Fuentana in a 1-0 victory for them. In the second match, our host country United Adaikes beats the Provisional Auran Team in a 2-1 match that shows just how strong they are. In the third match, Fujai is unable to win against Nagaraningrad and loses in a 0-1 match. Now, let's move on to Group B and look at the next graphic."

1158836269_WFC1MD4GpB.thumb.png.6c46217d70dbf745faa9d1cab924a008.png

"And in Group B, we've got one match that ends in a draw and two that end decisively! In the first match, Fhaengshia and Libterraria are both unable to score more points than each other, and therefore the match results in a 1-1 tie. In the second match, Giovanniland manages to beat strong competitor Dalimbar in a 2-0 victory that shows that nothing is impossible. In the third match, Pallandole is beat in a 1-2 match by Larxia, a major force in Group B. Let's move on Group C now."

2030734568_WFC1MD4GpC.thumb.png.25b3888f24666c8d46878ab0b7293fe4.png

"In Group C, we've got no underwhelming ties, and all three matches conclude decisively. In the first match, Irador handily beats the team from Hertfordshire & Jammbo in a shockingly strong 5-1 victory! In the second match, Zoran, one of the better teams from Group C, is beat in a 0-2 match by the underdog players from Reçueçn. In the third match, Italia loses in a 0-3 match to Arifiyyah, one of the leading teams in Group C. Finally, let's move on to Group D and look at the next graphic."

2056097314_WFC1MD4GpD.thumb.png.a0493c3788968de1f8b4c87102882579.png

"And in Group D, we've got some pretty decisive matches! In the first match, Badgeria inflicts a crushing defeat on the team from Alchera in a 6-0 match, one of the most lopsided matches we've seen in WCF1! In the second match, our home country Santos-Dominius loses to the strong players from Tara & Cambray in a 0-2 match. Finally, in the third match, Nieubasria manages to pull ahead and win against Dilber in a 4-3 match. Now, let's go over the rankings and review the situation."

"Looking at the rankings, we can see that United Adaikes is the clear leader in Group A, followed closely by their fellow Polaris team from Fujai. Teralyon and Nagaraningrad, however, are also going strong and can possibly race to catch up. Unfortunately, Fuentana and especially the Provisional Auran Team are under threat of elimination and will have to try their very best to reverse their increasingly poor fortunes."

"In Group B, Larxia is leading the pack, followed closely by Fhaengshia and Libterraria. Giovanniland is also doing alright, placing beyond the three teams. Dalimbar, however, has been rocked by poor performance after initial victories and strength, and is now in the bottom two of the bunch together with Pallandole. In Group C, Arifiyyah is the leader with 10 points overall, while Irador is the strongest challenger with 7 points. Zoran, as well as Hertfordshire & Jammbo, are in the middle of the group, with both having 6 points. Reçueçn is behind them with 5 points, but Italia, with 0 points, is almost certainly doomed."

"Finally, in Group D, Tara & Cambray and Badgeria are the two strongest competitors, while Nieubasria and our home country Santos-Dominius are in the middle of the pack. Dilber, rocked by a doping scandal, and Alchera, with only ties and defeats, are almost certainly going to be eliminated, and will have to make a exceptional comeback if they want to have a chance of staying in the competition."

"And that is it for Match Day 4! Congratulations to the leading teams and players, and a 'Good Job' to the teams who are able to hold their own and fend off the threat of elimination. I also give a lot of encouragement to the teams and countries who are performing poorly right now, for I believe that all of the teams believe in the spirit of sportsmanship and fighting till the very end. I'm Approctoflecticus Blubberman, and this was Match Day 4 of the 1st World Cup of Football. Stay tuned to SDCSN Channel 3 for coverage of the WCF, and see you tomorrow!"

"Good morning Giovanniland! As you might know already, I am Vanessa Desniowynsk, your host for the 1st World Cup of Football. Today I bring you exciting news about the tournament directly from Steskia, United Adaikes. Giovanniland has finally won a match, and not just against any team—but rather against Dalimbar, which we've already met in previous sport events such as the 1st Rugby World Cup's third place match and the 2nd Rugby World Cup's Group B."

"In the first half, Giovannilandian striker Clementine de Abreu-Floryn opened the score just 7 minutes after the begin. Augusto Uprines-Antenor scored another goal near the end of the first half, at 40 minutes to be exact. Both goals came from counterattacks after failed Dalimbari attempts to score, in which the Giovannilandian defense snatched the ball and then passed it forwards to the fierce strikers." As usual, Vanessa showed images of both goals and some other interesting attempts and defenses for each side. "The second half of the match, however, was less eventful. Neither side scored any more goals: Dalimbar was desperate to score in order to try drawing the game but had failed attempts resulting in Giovannilandian counterattacks, but the strikers from the Giovannilandiana Equipa failed to capitalize on those chances. In the end, Giovanniland had finally won its first match of the 1st World Cup of Football and now holds the fourth position within Group B, although it must win the last match against Libterraria in order to secure its qualifying chances."

Just after the screen switched from Vanessa in United Adaikes to Carlos Nakamura-Edristyn at the Giovannistadt Sports Studio, viewers were presented with a nice analysis of the possible outcomes of Matchday 5 games and the qualifying teams. Note: asterisks * mean that two or more teams could switch depending on other criteria because they have the same points, but they do not decide whether either of these teams qualifies or not. However, double asterisks ** show scenarios where Giovanniland and Pallandole/Dalimbar would both have 5 points each and be placed on 4th/5th, with the final decision on which team qualifies depending on how bad Giovanniland loses.

Carlos then explained: "As you can see, Giovanniland guarantees its place on the knockout rounds simply by winning its last match against Libterraria, without interference from other games' results. If said match results in a draw, Giovanniland can still advance but it depends on the Dalimbari not winning against Pallandole, which is a less optimal scenario since it would depend on other matches. Finally, if Libterraria wins, Giovanniland could still qualify if Dalimbar does not win AND Giovanniland does not lose by too many goals, although this scenario depends on too much things going right and thus we'd best avoid it. Anyways, see you tomorrow for another Giovannilandian Football Report on the last group stage matches!", says Carlos before the football report ends.

A STEP FORWARD

Good day to all Arifiyyah FA football fans. Yes, we are shocked by the defeat against Irador in this fifth match. But that is not a big reason for us to be disappointed because we deserve a knockout round! "As I said before, Irador is one of our strongest challengers. It is not strange if we lose against them. The goal obtained through a free kick in the final minutes of the match is great. We will focus entirely on the first match of the knockout. I am confident that with the abilities of the players we can definitely qualify for the quarterfinals." said the head Coach.

Arifiyyah FA will face Dalimbar in the next round. The Government has promised to sponsor free flights to Arifiyyah FA supporters after we pass the group stage. "We will do our best for the sake of our fans! Losing or winning we will keep trying." Said the young Team Captain. Looks like the players have started training to face Dalimbar tomorrow.

The official Dalimbari response to hearing Arifiyyah is to be flying in their supporters was:

"There is no try in soccer, only in rugby, a superior sport. We congratulate our squad for surviving the first round of this tournament of drama queens and debauchery. We wish for the extinction of all barbaric nations, particularly the non-Polaris nations, and as such, we will loosen restrictions on our squad for as long as they provide victory. Further, we will stop interference of television frequencies so that all who enjoy this... sport, are able to do so."

Larxia opened the first half, and also opened scoring as Messy grounds two defenders and goes above the goalkeeper to make it 1-0 in the 23th minute. Messy makes it 2-0 in the 25th minute with a top-bin curler. The goalkeeper stretches to full but cannot reach the to stop the ball. The Fhaengshians look frustrated. Fernandes passes it to Garcia, who is taken down in the penalty area. You can see the frustration in the coaches expressions as his defenders concede a penalty. Messy lines up to take it. It's in, a panenka from Messy in the 28th minute sees Larxia pull ahead to a 3 goal lead. A hat-trick for Messy, 3 goals in 5 minutes, probably the fastest hat-trick of the World Cup. The rest of the half went by with many close chances for both sides.

Larxia controlled the ball for the most of second half. Fhaengshia almost make it 3-1 in the 54th minute, but Ferrara displays tremendous skill in stopping that shot. It's a corner for Larxia. Messy lobs it in to the penalty area and finds Silva's head. Silva heads it in the 69th minute to make it 4-0. Aviero is taken down just outside the penalty box. A free-kick for Larxia. Messy lines up to take it. If he makes this, it will be 4 goals for Messy in this match. Messy places the ball, about 20 metres away from goal. Messy goes for it. It looks like it will sail over, OhhhMyyyGodd!!!! It dips in at the last moment and sees the back of the net as Messy scores his 4th and Larxia's 5th in the 87th minute. The referee sounds the full time whistle. Larxia have won the game 5 goals to none. The biggest win for Larxia in the World Cup yet. This win cements Larxia's place as Group B winners. The 5 goals difference might hurt Fhaengshia as it puts their goal difference at a -4. Larxia have potentially knocked Fhaengshia out if the Dalimbari manage to win.

HT: LXA 3-0 FHA

FT: LXA 5-0 FHA

In the post match interview with the captain and man of the match, Leo Messy, we asked him how he felt about the victory. He replied with the enthusiasm of a 5 year old," I'm very happy with how the team performed as a whole. Always good to get goals, but 4 of them together will be one of the highlights of my career. It is always great to represent Larxia on an international stage of this calibre. We are quite confident right now. We are sure that we can continue our form and ride this form all the way to the Cup." We later told him that he was trending in Larxian social media and read him a few tweets to which he replied," Thank you, this means a lot, but it isn't just me who deserves praise, the whole team, coach and especially the support staff, the whole should be appreciated. It is okay to appreciate an individual player, but we are here as a team, and we'll bring the Cup home as a team. Goodbye I need to go now to prepare for the next match."

Larxia will face Hertfordshire and Jammbo, a fellow Andolian nation, next in the 'Round of 16' phase of the tournament. The team for Hertfordshire and Jammbo have been playing well in Group C, but have seen their form deteriorate a little towards the end of the group stages. This is expected to be good fixture and we hope for the best.

Zoran 0-0 Hertfordshire & Jammbo (HT: ZOR 0-0 HAJ)

Pre-Match Review

Welcome one and all to this review. It is of the final group stage match against Zoran which despite ending in the most drab draw you could think of, still ensured that we went through in 4th place in Group C. That damn shock defeat to Irador ruined our prospects for challenging the top. You might be wondering why we have no notes on goals, injuries or even any yellow card or red cards. The first one is blatantly obvious, it's right up on the scoreline. As for the others, this was without a doubt the most drab match in Group C, possibly in the entire tournament so far. So much for the Paradigm Compass being an exciting team. We aren't totally sure what happened, some say that the Zoranian refugees and the Hertfordian mafia cancelled each other out, much like how our team and theirs cancelled each other on the pitch. Due to the terrible boredom that resulted from this game this will likely be the shortest edition yet. We'll still try though, because we're professionals. Certainly more professional than some nations we know.

tumblr_44e53eb35fdb4ecfb95dccfdbfc92e54_3a853c84_640.png.074c8404b42a7b27d17278273202129e.png

The match was as dull as it gets. We're thankful then that a bandaged PM Clarkov Furutani turned up with the mafia to sort of spice things up. Also, who said we couldn't use the same picture twice.

First Half Review

Do not kid yourselves, this review is going to be more of a recap. Lack of detail because we can only write so much about this. Some fans have attested to seeing a crowd of Zoranian refugees attempting to storm the pitch and hold up our players but claim they were dealt with just fine. Then apparently the mafia turned up, followed shortly by Prime Minister Clarkov Jammbonevych Furutani. The operation to heal his stab wound from around 2 matches prior had worked much faster than expected and he had turned up wearing that same garb he was wearing pre-tournament. The nostalgia effect, may haps. Either way, fans then claimed to have seen the mafia force the refugees off the pitch completely, all while the match was being played at the same time. Talk about supposed early drama. But that didn't happen throughout all the time spent playing. We cannot really say much at all therefore about the first half other than that. We effectively cancelled each other out. Their team has a far worse attack, but a far better defence so really the game played out more like a Zoranian match than a Hertfordian match in the end.

Second Half Review

More of the same really. The only thing that got fans even remotely interested in this half was noticing the awful kits that the Paradigm Compass were wearing. But even that couldn't keep them awake forever and soon many fans had left the stadium. Like in the first half, very little of note occurred and in the end neither team really deserved to get anything other than a draw. And that was it. Full time, a scoreless draw.

Post-Match Review

What did we tell you, huh? Lacklustre effort to go with a lacklustre match. It's only fitting. With that, the group stages are over, Irador having recovered from a bad start to win the group entirely, bringing forth a coup on Arifiyyah who finished 2nd. They both finished with 10 points, +4 GD and 8 goals scored, but Irador topped the group by a hair due to virtue of defeating Arifiyyah 2-1. Zoran finished 3rd with 7 points and a 0 GD. Us on the other hand came 4th with 7 points and due to that disaster of a match against Irador also ended with a lowly -2 GD. Reçueçn was unable to capitalise, being held to a draw by Italia who got their first point of the tournament too little too late. Reçueçn came 5th with 6 points and Italia finished last with just 1 point.

Next Time...

Next time, eh? A round of 16 match with Larxia, who won Group B and have come off the back of a 5-0 demolition of Fhaengshia who were eliminated due to that and other results.

ffl-larxia.thumb.png.9d7b1f8a9e7cc94390f49cef2aaaf2bf.png.fdc2ca488499a891a8e6942de580299a.pngVS.425792542_HAJFFTeamlogo.png.6b534a41adccf311295d836f434d0191.png

Now it is time to depart, cheers for reading. We are off to the tower now to have our heads cut off (not really). Goodbye.

Zoranian Times Live!

"Hello Zoran! I am glad to say that our team has progressed to round 16 of the World Cup after a draw with the Herfordian football team! Both teams were equally matched as neither of them gave any ground for the other to score. While there were a few moments where it appeared that a team would break the tie but that was not the case. Up next we have a match against Libterraria which will determine whether or not we will get to the quarterfinals or not!"

Someone then runs into view of the camera and hands Quiyakaso a piece of paper, he looks down and reads it.

"Ah and in other news, there have been rumors that the body of the infamous thief GCZ has been found in Zoran. This is all speculation of course as the body has not been identified properly yet, the only evidence that has led people to believe it was CGZ was the black clothing, a belt with equipment, and a deck of CGZ calling cards in a side pouch on the belt. Yet those who deny it to be CGZ's body state that he would have been wearing his special body armor if it was CGZ. Yet those who believe it to be CGZ theorize that he might have had to use regular clothing due to the armor having to be repaired and thus not fit for being worn. All of this has yet to be confirmed and will probably not be covered by me as I am only the news anchor for this sporting event."

Someone off screen can be heard booing and then a soda can flies into view and hits Quiyakaso in the head.

"Hey! That's not my fault! I was only given orders from the bosses to report this development in order to maximize coverage! Now, if you will allow me, I would like to cover highlights from the match last ni-"

More booing can soon be heard as garbage is soon being thrown as Quiyakaso and then the camera man throws the camera at Quiyakaso, causing the feed to cut and a technical difficulties screen appearing. And then more Nieubasrian ads play on the screen.

"Hello Giovanniland, here speaks Vanessa Desniowynsk! It is a pleasure to present yet another Giovannilandian Football Report as the host for the 1st World Cup of Football. In this report you will watch news about the last group stage matchday of the World Cup, as eight teams depart the competition and sixteen will continue on the knockout stage. Giovanniland is one of them! Yes, you heard that right—even though the result of our match against Libterraria was a draw, specific results within other games allowed us to take the 4th place in the group. The fight for the 4th place was very close because Fhaengshia also had the same amount of points as Giovanniland, but their 0-5 defeat against the Larxia meant Giovanniland qualified due to a higher goal difference."

"Regarding our match against Libterraria, the first half was quite eventful. Giovannilandian players tried a lot of attacks as usual but none scored a goal, until midfielder Catia Schaefer-Taspein managed to catch the ball from a wrong Libterrarian play, and then went all the way from the midfield to the penalty box, passing through the Libterrarian defense, and scored the first and only Giovannilandian goal of the match." Vanessa showed images of how the goal was scored, a play by Catia which was lauded by many as one of the best goals of the tournament. "Following this, the Giovannilandiana Equipa coaches decided to replace some Giovannilandian strikers and midfielders with more defense-focused players in order to hold a win that would qualify Giovanniland immediately."

"The second half of the match was less eventful, with Libterrarian players trying to equal the score to no avail until the 80th minute. The final minutes saw some revival of attempts by both sides in order to untie the game, although none of these worked. The game then ended as a 1-1 draw, but fortunately this did not eliminate Giovanniland since, at that point, Larxia had already been winning by four goals against Fhaengshia, a team then eliminated by goal difference. After the end of all Group B matches, the teams of Larxia, Libterraria, Dalimbar and Giovanniland advanced to the round of 16 while Fhaengshia and Pallandole failed to qualify. Giovanniland will now meet the leader of Group C Irador, and let's see what happens then," Vanessa briefly stopped before announcing the latter part of the Football Report: "See you tomorrow everyone! My colleague Carlos Nakamura-Edristyn will now speak from Giovannistadt and bring you all some nice information."

Carlos then appears on the screen and says: "Hello viewers! First I want to apologize for an error in the last report's predictions table. In the case of a draw between Giovanniland and Libterraria, a Dalimbari win against Pallandole, and a Larxian win against Fhaengshia, our table mistakenly predicted that Giovanniland could not qualify. However, Giovanniland would actually qualify if the Larxia-Fhaengshia match ended in a Larxian win with more than one goal of difference, and this is exactly what happened. The correct table can be seen below:"

Giovanniland vs. Libterraria Dalimbar vs. Pallandole  Larxia vs. Fhaengshia  Nations Advancing (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th)
Draw Dalimbari win Larxian win  Larxia, Libterraria, Dalimbar, Fhaengshia/Giovanniland**
Draw Larxia, Fhaengshia, Libterraria, Dalimbar
Fhaengshian win Fhaengshia, Larxia, Libterraria, Dalimbar
Draw or Pallandolean win Larxian win Larxia, Libterraria, Fhaengshia/Giovanniland*
Draw Larxia, Fhaengshia, Libterraria, Giovanniland
Fhaengshian win Fhaengshia, Libterraria/Larxia*, Giovanniland

He continues: "Second, you already know Giovanniland has qualified for the round of 16. We'll play against the leader of Group C Irador, and I will give you a quick retrospective of their own games so the public is able to know which team we are facing. Irador similarly endured defeats on its first games just like Giovanniland—first a defeat against our Auran neighbors of Zoran, and then a draw against Reçueçn. However, on the third game they upset one of the strongest teams, Hertfordshire & Jammbo, and scored 5-1 against them. A comfortable win against Italia then followed, and finally they won against former group leader Arifiyyah to take the lead. It seems for me that Giovanniland will meet a tough opponent, and we must hope that everything goes alright for the Giovannilandiana Equipa. See you tomorrow for another Giovannilandian Football Report on the knockout rounds!"

Larxia opened the first half of the Round of 16 match against Hertfordia. The coach has rested Aviero and de Marcus. They will be replaced by Fati and Moon respectively. Fati almost makes it 1-0 in the 32nd minute with a curling shot to the top bin, but it is kept out by the keeper. Good work by the Hertfordian goalkeeper in keeping that out. This was the closest any team came to scoring in the first half.

Hertfordia opened the second half. The possession of the ball went to and fro between the two teams. Both teams created some chances in the second half, but great work by the goalkeepers at both ends. Garcia hits a powerful shot, but the keeper gets a hand on it. It goes out of play. A corner for Larxia in the 88th minute. Messy will take it. Messy curls it into the penalty area. It is cleared by a Hertfordian defender, but not too far, as Fernandes takes a half volley which goes straight into the goal. The goalkeeper didn't have time to react to that extremely powerful half-volley. It is 1-0 in the 89th minute. That's the final whistle, Larxia have won this game and progressed to the Quarter-finals of the World Cup. You can feel the cheers of Larxian fans as it brings a slight tremor in the surrounding areas.

In a post match interview with the coach, we asked him how he felt about this victory. He replied," It is a victory. That is what is important, though I had hoped for a bigger margin. Scoring in the last minute feels good, but you know what is better? Scoring in the other minutes where we failed to score today. I'll say, the Hertfordians gave us a tough fight, but we need to get back to scoring ways. That's why we'll be training extra hard for our match tomorrow against the Fujansk Landslag. I have full confidence in my players that we can go all the way, but we're also counting on the Larxians' support. Be there to support the sons of Larxia."

Larxia will face Fujai in the quarter-finals of the World Cup. Fujai have come off the back of a 4-3 victory against Santos-Dominius in the Round of 16 and finished second in Group A with 10 points. Fujai is a strong team and has performed well, but so has Larxia. This match is going to be legendary in all ways perceivable. We sure hope for a Larxian victory and we'll pray for our team.
