29th November 1420

The Rugby World Cup will be starting today. Excitement levels are high in Larxia, with many Larxian fans flocking to Dilber in anticipation of watching their national heroes display their prowess on the field.

His Royal Highness, King Maddy IV booked a VIP Box for himself and his aides in the all the stadiums where the Larxian National Team will be playing. He'll be traveling to watch the World Cup tomorrow, supporting Larxia in their victories and losses equally from the stands.

The security detail in the National Team's hotel has been increased tenfold as His Royal Highness, King Maddy IV announced that he would live in the same hotel as the team for the duration of the tournament.

We certainly hope for the dub, but let the world know that Larxia will support the Team always. No matter the result, they will always be considered National heroes.

Hello and welcome to the first proper news section from the Hertfordshire and Jammbo Rugby Union for the 2nd The West Pacific Rugby World Cup. If you're wondering why we aren't naming the HRJ in the country's native Anglian tongue and are instead using this strange language that for some reason everyone in this rugby world cup can understand, then stop wondering. It's because we can, now zip it! Anyway, let's get on with the announcement of the kits for our team, the Remnants. They are also often called the Hell Ravens, but the Remnants is the official nickname.

1422788908_Screenshot2020-11-29162907.png.6c38cb6195c04c922a1c2a8dc1559850.png 2008458652_Screenshot2020-11-29163011.png.d5aa4703802ae019a883ebe618b066d5.png

The shorts and socks will be out at a slightly later time. There is also no sponsor at all, because sponsors on sporting related kits do not exist.

As for the first matchday, we have a bye as the HRJ are in a 5 team group, Group C. The first match will be on Matchday 2 against Teralyon. Until then, we are boarding the ferry that will take us to the land of Dilber. Who bets on us getting lost? We hope to avoid it.

Signed, Härtferdsierndeambeu Ragbi Junjen

A juiced up Dilber beat Cambria 17-13 at home on Monday in the opening round of the 2nd West Pacific Rugby World Cup.

Following a last minute cancellation of Sunday's scheduled match, Cambrian coach Kees Gordon was left wondering if and when the team would play. Gordon said Cambria was notified of this match when threatened with forfeiture a mere thirty minutes before the revised kick-off time.

"I want to say we were outplayed or didn't win the gain line, but I can't. I'm really please with these men. These cheats threw everything they could at us - It should have been an uglier game."

The Dopin' Dogs got the job done despite sloppy play and obvious lack of basic understanding of the game, scoring a pair of tries through Ruben Dario Garcia and what is thought to be Sergio Chade's mobile womb unit. The other points came through the boots of Rahl Fox.

Cambria scored a try through Ben Evans, but fell short after the Dilberian team received a fourth round of glowing green injections.

Gordon later said Cambria would adapt to the circumstances as they aim to take home the Cup.

"Now we know beyond a reasonable doubt we are viewed as a true threat to winning this tournament. We also know the lengths to which these teams will go to beat us. We are completely focused on tomorrow's event against a Libterrarian team coming off a win against our Basric brethren."

The Dopin' Dogs are proud to bring home game one, with the knowledge that the same people will still be at the next game, and none of them will look different.

While glowing green injections were shown on TV, we would like to state for the record it was an algae concoction from BetterBy pharma, and while you are in Dilber to not ask questions about how that gets injected into the blood.

If anyone saw a rampaging monster post-game, no you didn't.

Giovannilandian Rugby Report

We're back from the Olympics and now rebranded as the Giovannilandian Rugby Report! Did you miss us?

*cheering crowd noises*

Good, now let's get to the news! Giovanniland was placed in Group 2 of the 2nd TWP Rugby World Cup, to play against Mediobogdum, Min-Su, Bobki and Dalimbar. Three of those have never played against our team, while the Dalimbari met the Giovannilandians in the 3rd place match of last World Cup, a game won 6-3 by Giovanniland.

Sadly, day one of this cup was a bye for the Giovannilandian team, and no game was played. Instead, we've talked with coaches Roberta Urial & Otavio Smith and they've reported today was a day of training and preparations for the upcoming match against Mediobogdum tomorrow! The two-time team captain, Rio Schmidt, has ensured that the team is well-prepared and will fight for an even better place this time around! Let's hope it happens that way. Anyways, that's all for now, and see you tomorrow for a report on the game against Mediobogdum!

The evening after the first game found Sir Evan in his room reviewing the recordings of the game over tea with the team.

I was quite impressed with our scoring, gentlemen. Part of that was due to a few mistakes by The Mountaineers, but mostly it was due to our own intelligent decisions.
Keep that up!

Defensively, we were good, but could have done better. Remember, the post must tackle the ball carrier back towards the ruck. If they allow the attacker to cross the gain line, the rest of the defense will be forced to retire behind the last feet to be on-side. While they are doing so, a quick ball can give the attack advantage and have the defense playing catch up. I know you know this, but in the heat of the game, you want to be helpful to your teammates, of course, but it's more important for your to play your own role! You gentlemen generally did do this, and really did a fine job overall. Just, be a bit better focused.

All together, this was a fine game, gentlemen! You make Saint Mark proud!

The United Adaikes National Rugby Team drew first blood in their first official international game!

Larxia Rugby scored first with a try but missed their conversion kick. The Sharks took the lead just before the first half ended with a try and the subsequent conversion kick. The Adaikesians scored again in the 71st minute to increase the lead to 14-5. Larxia scored a drop goal in the 75th minute to establish the final score.

They will be having a rest day tomorrow because of the bye but will take on the Fhaengshia Mountaineers the next day who lost to the Saint Markan Royal Rugby Team earlier. Sharks coach Gallardo has said that they will not be practicing on their rest day but will look at the tape on the Fhaengshia-Saint Mark game to analyze both Fhaengshia's and Saint Mark's tactics they can utilize and use against them for their next game.

HT: Larxia 5-7 United Adaikes

Match Report - Dalimbar (49.96 Rank Points) vs Mediobogdum (50.00)

After a respectable fourth-place showing at the First TWP Rugby World Cup (though, tell that to some elements of Stavka, who demanded total victory), the boys in blue from Dalimbar were back. Facing them today was a newcomer from Doll Guldur, Mediobogdum. By mid-match the newcomers had earned respect from the Dalimbari after pulling into the lead. But it was the efforts of team Captain Theodor Rybar rallying his troops which saw Dalimbar prevail in the end, 18-12.

The first half saw the Dalimbari side score a quick try at the 5 minute mark, bringing them to 5 points. Sadly the squad couldn't seal the deal on the conversion, which must have made the side from Mediobogdum happy as they seemed to dominate play for the rest of the half. A fierce second half ensued, with Dalimbar scoring two penalties at the 55 minute and 68 minute markers, bringing them to 11 points. Finally, with 5 minutes left, Rybar furiously rampaged towards the Mediobogdum side after a close toss from left-winger Victor Labelle, the Dalimbari scored another try, this time with a successful conversion to bring it home for the Dalimbari.

"We have seen the enemy, and this enemy played well." Said Rybar after the match. "We will work hard to make sure we conquer all those who face us on the field."

Back in Saint Andreisburg, it was said that Marshal Markus Briand, the Head of State and Commander-in-Chief of the Free State of Dalimbar, was ecstatic with the result.

This is the Larxian Post and the Rugby related reports will be going down here

This is the Larxian Post and the Rugby related reports will be going down here

In the first game of the Cup, Larxia Rugby succumbed at the hands of United Adaikes'. The final score was 14-8.

W etalked to national coach, Felix, who said," It was certainly not how we wanted this to go. We have been working hard and will keep working hard in order to improve. It was a bad day in the office for us, and we are positive we can turn things around."

King Maddy IV was seen consoling the players, and encouraging them to work harder. Who knew the King gives better pep talks than the manager.

The players are fired up for their game tomorrow and they have been training hard . The coaches are studying the Fhaengshian style of play, and it looks like they are progressing in mapping out the most used tactics by the Fhaengshian coach. This will definitely help them tailor their tactics to fit the opponent perfectly.

Though a loss is not an ideal result, we will face anything to support our National Team. It is said that failure is a stepping stone to success. So we wish our team luck and hope they can step on the 'stepping stones' and eventually reach the success they went there for.

RUGBY RETREAT RISKS RECKONING

01-12-1420. story by Lurienh Geonts.

Dilber. After arriving later than expected the national rugby team, the Mountaineers, were fortunate with the tournament having been pushed back a day for unknown but seemingly controversial purposes. That is where luck for the Mountaineers dried up faster than a puddle in Enuo. Facing a defensive Saint Markan Royal Rugby team, the Lions, many Mountaineers were mauled when daring too deep into the Lions’ den. The first half alone saw 6 turnovers for Saint Mark, with Lions flanker Gregor Napoli winning half of those.

Giving up a try within the first 15 minutes, Mountaineers captain Hoifte Ikroeh knew it was going to be tough, and was able to make room for fly-half Neijstoi Rallesn to score a drop goal over the Lions’ heads just before half time leaving the score at 7-3. This appeared to be the strategy adopted for the match as all of the Mountaineers’ points came from drop goals and penalties. The Lions, perhaps a little too fierce in their defence gave up two easy penalties with offside players, but the score remained too steep to scale with a second try scored in the 62nd minute, without conversion.

When the full time buzzer sounded, the Lions had 22 points with 3 tries and a penalty, to the Mountaineers’ 12 points. Interviewed post game, Ikroeh acknowledged the need for the Mountaineers to clean up their game. With the game against the Larxian Rugby team shortly afterwards, perhaps there wasn’t enough time as this ended with another loss in the group stages in a low scoring match.

With both teams going on the offence early, it was a surprise to see the first half empty of tries ending at 3-3 after penalty kicks. A strong line out catch by the Larxians led to the single try of the match by Larxian winger Willie Naholo, but being right on the sidelines proved too much for kicker Michael Davies. After winning another penalty, the Mountaineers were within striking distance of their first win, but Davies redeemed himself with a second penalty rounding out the buzzer with a win for Larxia. The final score, 6-11, leaves the Mountaineers at the bottom of the table and with the next match against the United Adaikes Sharks at the top of the table, blood is in the water.

"We was robbed in the first game against Dalimbar" growled the Mediobogdum Coach,  Ginger (Fingers) Malone.  "The ref would have been more effective if he had been waving a white stick rather than the whistle he had in his hand!  He and his team of touch judges missed numerous blatant knock-ons, ignored at least two high tackles, not to mention half a dozed forward passes.  I will be taking a careful look at the video replays of these incidents and may make a formal complaint against the match officials to the TWP World Rugby Cup Committee."

As for our second game against Giovanniland, the match officials had it spot on and I would like to congratulate them on their professionalism, good humour, and deft handling of the whole game.  The sportsmanship showed by our opponents in their defeat was exemplary and we enjoyed post-match schooner races in the bar followed by rugby songs that included: Pull'em Down You Zulu Warrior!,  Mule Train!", and Swing Low, Sweet Chariot.

The coaches and the National team did good in their word. They promised a victory and they delivered one. Captain of the team, Beauden Brown, said in the post match interview that he was happy with the final result, but there is always room for improvement. He was particularly happy that the team has got the ball rolling.

The margin was not that big, but the coaches and the players are working on training to create more scoring opportunities. The match against Fhaengshia was just the first victory in many, with the team gearing up for their match against Fujanske Rugby. With the team from Fujai being a naturally defensive team, and the Larxian team being an attacking team, this tie will definitely live upto the fans' expectations.

The coaches will be employing similar methods where they watch the past clips of the Fujanske Rugby team in order to understand the thinking of the opponents, and they seem to doing quite a good task.

The morale in camp is high, with His Highness, King Maddy IV there to enjoy the Larxian victory, and the fans in the stands chanting the official song of the Larxian National team.

The team was walking back to their rooms after being dismissed by Sir Evan after a somber debriefing.

"Don't worry about it so much, dude. They're a very defensive team. They're super hard to score against."

"I know," groaned Dasher, "but I couldn't get past that Huan Min even once! Who runs that fast!?"

"Yeah. Well, we're still doing great for our first time in the international arena. We have to play our strengths and do what we can to minimize our weaknesses. As both Saint Mark and Coach Rahl pointed out, we've won one and lost one, and we've still earned a decent number of points. We have to keep the long-term goal in mind."

"Yeah, I know." Looking up with a grin, he changed the topic. "Have you seen that crazy team from Dilber!? What the heck is going on there!!? "

Laughter and buoyed spirits accompanied them back to their rooms.

Giovannilandian Rugby Report - 1st Match

Welcome to the first match review of our Rugby Report! The Giovannilandiana Equipa played against The Mashers of Mediobogdum on the second matchday of the 2nd TWP Rugby World Cup, after a bye on the first matchday. Let's see how the game went:

The Mashers 16-6 Giovannilandiana Equipa (Halftime: 5-3)

Drop Goals: Ana Silvia Lee (10'), Flavio Ruwibert (43')

First Half: Ten minutes after the start, Ana Silvia Lee from Giovanniland opened the score with three points from a drop goal. However, after eighteen minutes a try was scored by Mediobogdum, giving them the lead. The rest of the first half was quiet, with no further points scored by either team.

Second Half: Four minutes after the halftime ended, Flavio Ruwibert scored another drop goal and gave Giovanniland the lead for a few minutes. You heard that right, because just ten minutes after, The Mashers had already scored another try and a drop goal! This widened their lead up to 13-6, although the Giovannilandians did not give up yet. Unfortunately, no more points came for Giovanniland, and instead Mediobogdum scored a further three points from another drop goal near the end. The match concluded as a 6-16 loss for our team.

Post-Match: In the third matchday, Giovanniland will play against the neighboring country of Min-Su! The coaches emphasized the need for a stronger defense next match, as it could decide the survival of the Giovannilandians in this Rugby World Cup.

Matchday 2 Report - First Half: Well, by some miracle the HRJ made it to Dilber in time to see the first matches, which didn't disappoint. They used the time to analyze their opponents and see who in their group would be the biggest challenge. After much careful deliberation over some Bovril that James helpfully provided, it was concluded that Zoran, a debutant team, would be the most dangerous team to the HRJ's hopes of retaining the title. But enough about that as this is a report about the routine victory over Teralyon. That it was a victory wasn't really a surprise, considering that per the new rankings that Dalimbar have calculated Teralyon is the worst competitor currently besides Nieubasria. So you would be forgiven for thinking that the team were slacking off but nope, manager Faust and coach Rago drilled it into the players that they need to work just as hard as before if they want to have a hope in heaven of winning a 2nd time. The players clearly responded. The match began and then paused, then resumed and then paused again. The culprit? Two quick tries from Damian and Satori respectively. The fans of both teams were stunned into silence, even with this mostly new look roster the HRJ seemed no worse off. There was simply an appetite to get it over with. After all, everyone on the HRJ wanted a rest after the tiring trip to Dilber. 12 minutes in and Isaac gets himself booked for a light foul, before Galeem put the game to bed before a quarter of the match could pass. Those strange wings and rigid hair aren't just for show. Park-the-bus was activated, save for a blip when the disapproving Hiroto exacted his displeasure on an opposition player and got himself the yellow card. What a clot. The first half ended, with utter dominance by the Remnants.

Matchday 2 Report - Second Half: Not much to say here. The team was tired, the manager and coach were tired, all of them just wanted the game to end. So fans were in for the most insultingly drab half of a rugby match in memory. Sorry, not sorry. Luckily Ongo, a veteran from the first TWPRWC and one of the teams best players, has a kind heart and spiced things up a bit with a 'mistimed' tackle. Into the book he went. At least something happened, eh? After many many minutes of abject snore fest, full time arrived and the Remnants had swatted aside a Teralyon team who, despite having a sword on their flag, had a most blunt attack imaginable. I mean, we're an attacking, aggressive team with a high line and they still couldn't score a single point on us! We hear that Faust gave a call to the Prime Minister, Clarkov Furutani Jammbonevych 'Clarkson', expressing shock at how quickly the match was laid to rest. He was informed by the PM that one of the try scorers is infamous as an apparent mind reader. That might explain the unsettling thing that looks like some sort of third eye on Satori then. Whatever the reason, the HRJ had creamed their first match, now if you'll excuse us we're going to bed. Goodnight!

Next Time: The HRJ have their next match against the aforementioned danger team of the group. Matchday 3 was to pit them against the National Athletics Clan of Zoran, who had won both of their two matches so far without conceding. Tough challenge, but since when did we back down from a challenge? Teralyon meanwhile have what is likely the worst PD in the tournament and will be thankful for a bye on the next matchday.

Zoranian Times Live!

*Zoranian times live into plays to reveal a very tired looking Quiyakaso who looks like he does not want to be reporting right now*

"Yeah, hello Zoran. So our team won our games against Recuecen and Badgeria the past few days. It was a great event yada yada yada. The Zoranian refugees flooded the field and prevented Recuecen's players from playing properly. They kept clinging onto their legs or kept bothering them about asking where they were in the Zoranian language, a language the Recuecen players did not know. So our team was able to push forward in winning us eight points. For the Badgeria game it was a normal one, the Zoranian refugees didn't really bother the Badgerian players and the game was fairly normal with our players able to score some points against them. Our next match is against the notorious Hertforidan rugby team, let's hope that our players can pull through this one folks and I have complete faith in our team who has been training using video recordings of their national team's rugby practices and matches to be able to counter them effectively. That is all from me today now please let me sleep after struggling to get the drugged up police officers of Dilber to find the things that was stolen from me." The camera kept recording and he just looked at the camera in confusion,

"What are you doing? Stop recording."

"We are waiting for something funny or random to happen." yelled someone from behind the camera,

"No! This is probably the most normal broadcast my entire career so far! Don't jinx it!"

"No...the people love seeing you miserable. You are a meme in Zoran for crying out loud! Just find some random Dilberian that would be willing to mug you or something." Quiyakaso just sighs, drops the microphone, and walks off camera,

"I am going to bed, goodnight."

"NOOOOOO! THE VIE-"

The screen then transitions back to the news studio leaving the divided country of Zoran with a very bland update on the rugby game.

Match Report - Dalimbar (51.37) vs Min-Su (48.60)

While back home celebrations were going on, and while Captain Rybar gave a traditionally Dalimbari response to foreign media, the squad knew that their match against Mediobogdum was too close for comfort. Further, Major Trolio and his unit from the Special Police seemed to be spending more of their time glaring at the Dalimbari squad than doing their jobs of finding out as much information as possible about their upcomming opponents.

Min-Su was... a black hole for Dalimbar. It was only as a result of this tournament that the Dalimbari knew they existed. Min-Su made sure that Dalimbar would know they existed. Yes, Dalimbar was able to get an early try and conversion in the first half, but a brutal grudge match in the second half only resulted in two penalties scored for the Dalimbari. A loss. A loss Manager Colonel Nursan was sure to not hear the end of for a while, unless changes were quickly made.

Sharks continue winning ways, but head coach concerned in the complacency shown by the team late in the game.

The United Adaikes National Rugby Team started strong when they scored 2 tries and their subsequent conversions within 8 minutes that started on the 17th minute. The Fhaengshia Mountaineers went for a drop goal in the 34th minute. The half time pep talk by the coaches boosted the two teams, with the Sharks increasing their lead with a try followed by a successful conversion just 7 minutes into the second half. However, the Mountaineers did not want to let the atmosphere of the game control them as they tried to come back, scoring with 2 tries (and successful conversions) on the 63rd minute and the 74th minute. The Adaikesian team held with the possession of the ball and stalled until the time.

Coach Gallardo had this to say at the post-match press conference: "We didn't have the faintest idea that our players will be complacent after having three tries. We will make sure that this will not cross their minds again until the end of full time." Captain Miguel Gonzales had also said, "Our next two games will be crucial to the final positioning of the table for the knockouts. The next game will have us playing with the runner-up from the last World Cup, and we will have to be in our best to at least have a competitive match and bring that energy to our final game in the group stage. Hopefully, we can produce results that our nation can still be proud on."

Both Fujanske Rugby Landslag and the United Adaikes National Rugby Team are at the top of Group D with a 7 point difference between the two teams. The winner of their game will be ensured a spot in the knock-outs.

The Fhaendhaw Spectator

DEFEAT FROM THE JAWS OF VICTORY

02-12-1420. story by Lurienh Geonts.

Dilber. Facing a top contender for the group stage in the United Adaikes Sharks, the Mountaineers needed to win, and win big to have a chance of progressing to the quarter finals. The first half looked rough facing down two tries in quick succession with only a drop goal from trusty kicker Neijstoi Rallesn racking up points for the Mountaineers. But when the second half came around, a well timed interchange got fresh legs on the field in the form of Detshaer Riemlaic who was instrumental in the Mountaineers’ two tries of the match. With only a 4 point lead, the Sharks stalled for time to finish a lacklustre half, but a win regardless.

A bye tomorrow gives some time to prepare for the match with the Fujansk Landslag, who face the Sharks tomorrow in what could be the biggest match of the group. The runner-up of the last tournament, very comfortably 2nd in the rankings, offer the Mountaineers a formidable peak to scale. The indomitable team managed to slip past the Sharks in the group rankings with a solid victory against Larxia, and have conceded only 9 points, the least of all teams in the tournament. But with both the Sharks and the Mountaineers being the highest scoring teams in Group D, the Fujansk defences are going to be put through the ringer.

Facing an early end to the tournament, coach Sanreig Hraic offered little in excuses, “the team has played well in their first internationals, but always just short of getting a win.” It’s unlikely the Mountaineers will dally in Dilber, as many appear keen to return home. Perhaps they want to get high and dry in the Mountain Amphitheatre of Oune, far away from the jaws of lions and sharks.

It was a tough day in camp for Larxia. Today saw us losing to Fujai 20-9. The coaches were certainly not happy with the performance and have already started training for their match against their Saint-Markan counterparts.

Coach, Joe Keep, in a post-match interview said," It was certainly not what we were expecting from this tournament. We still have a chance to qualify, but a win is imperative and a high scoring one to that. Keeping that in mind, we will be approaching the next game with a defensive outlook. We have studied the games of other countries, and we have seen that the more defensive teams have prevailed."

Well that was certainly a lot to take in. We are pretty sure the coaches know what they are doing. Letssss Goooooooooo Laaarxiaaaaaaa

After Libterraria's 3 game win streak, there has been a controversy about if the success is should be attributed to the Fingalese or the Mainland Libterrarians.

The chairman has said "Libterrarian, Fingalese, matters not. We are one country and we should act like one country to have a chance at reaching the top.". However, a member of the Libterrarian public has said "We are doing well so far, but I know that the Fingalese will run out of steam. We will see what will happen then. I don't have high hopes."
