St.Aiaden, Nieubasria - 03/04/20 3:13am

A pair sit in a mostly unfurnished apartment, the dull street lights filtering through the gaps of the drawn blinds barely illuminates the space. The female figure reclines uneasily in a cheap patio chair, tapping her fingers on the card table before her; the male figure leans against the wall near the window, arms folded and mouth tensely closed. He looks to the disposable phone resting on the table and watches its digital clock face tick away ever more seconds past the deadline.

He pushes off the wall, "It's been too long. We need to get out of here." His voice cracking into use from hours of silence, deep and accented. The female continues tapping her fingers on the table, not responding to the man. He continues, "He should have landed an hour ago. His sh*t is unimpeachable. No WAY customs held him up" as he get visibly frustrated.

The woman exhales and puts her feet up on the table, her jacket falling back to reveal a police badge on her belt glinting in the low, orange light. She rakes her dark hair away from her face.

Seemingly unaffected by the badge, the man exclaims "I'm calling Ohlms. He needs to know," as he reaches for the phone on the table the woman quickly stands up to block his path, one hand grasping something behind her back.

"No JC. He doesn't." Her dark eyes narrow, her features stern. In the stillness after her statement, the window begins to rumble at the sound of an approaching airplane. The apartment was very close to the international airport in St.Aiaden, regularly shaken by the larger aircraft. Another sound joined the familiar din of airplane engines, and as the female moves her gaze to the window, a bright floodlight streams through the window and a blast at the door rocks the pair to the ground.

Suited SWAT police flood through the door, screaming "GET ON THE GROUND! HANDS BEHIND YOUR HEAD" as they fan through the apartment, checking the single bedroom and tiny bathroom for others. The woman and JC comply, JC's eyes wide in panic. With hands over their head, the officers frisk them and disarm the woman of a pistol that was tucked in her belt. A chorus of "CLEAR"s sound over the deafening helicopter, and one officer makes an unintelligible call over the radio.

A suited man steps into the apartment, blue eyes flashing in the harsh light spotlight.

Clarendon Heights, Nieubasria 03/04/20 4:37amvancouvers-most-expensive-condo.jpg

In the pre-dawn darkness, a man leans on the railing of a spacious balcony atop a luxurious condo building. His white silk robe catches the chill breeze and he takes a deep breath, surveying a now familiar view of the capital from this gated community on the outskirts of the city. He clutches his robe tight to him as he turns inside, bare feet padding on the cold marble. Through the glass wall to the kitchen, he sees his chef unpacking ingredients for breakfast and his assistant staring groggily at the Mastrena. 'A slow start to the day, Jacen', he thought to himself.

"Good morning Mr.Goode," started the chef - one of a duo of Auran men he had hired, though whose names Jacen could never remember. He nodded, not impolitely, and picked up his pair of leather folios from his assistant and silently walked to his gym.

Jacen slips off his robe and begins on the treadmill, opening the light brown folio emblazoned with a Goode Ehefrau & Anwalt monogram logo. first. He thumbs through case research and increases the intensity of his jog, coming later to draft briefs by his junior associates.

Dodek Estate, near Clarendon, Nieubasria 03/04/20 5:07amHistoric 247 Acre Estate In Peterborough, England | Homes of the Rich

The early-morning rituals of the Dodek Estate are under way, the main gates to the drive are opened for the day as a smattering of gardeners, housekeepers, and other estate employees arrive in a utility vehicle.

Overlooking the main drive from the bay windows of his private office, Baron-Esquire Theo Dodek cradles a cup of steaming hot water and nods to the arriving employees. As the Baron nestles into the plush leather chair at his stately desk, two curt knocks at the service door interrupt his usually peaceful morning goings-on. Not hearing an objection, his valet enters the service door and announces "Good morning sir. There is a phone call on the home line for you. They were connected by the Esquiry operator."

Theo furrows his brows at this, now not only peeved, but perplexed. He had no ongoing business with the Esquiry, and they certainly wouldn't be putting a call of interest out at such an hour. "Thank you, I'll take the call here." The valet leaves the room and Theo turns to the phone on the desk, waiting for the line to begin blinking.

When the green indicator "Home Line" begins blinking, Theo clears his throat and sips the hot water. He picks up the receiver and answer "Hello, good mo-" where he is cut off by a woman's voice.

"The police are on their way to execute an arrest warrant on Derek. Take care Theo." The call disconnects, and is Theo left bewildered and his blood rushing in his ears. He hurriedly summons his valet and scrambles to retrieve his cell phone from the drawer. Fumbling through his speed dial contacts, the phone begins to ring as his valet enters to which Theo abruptly orders "Get Derek's location now! Then CALL THE LAWYERS. Tell no one else." The phone continues to ring and is picked up by an answering machine - "You BETTER have an answer for this! Get back to me IMMEDIATELY". Angrily ending the call, Theo tosses his phone to his desk and runs his hands through his greyed hair as he catches movement on the drive out of the corner of his eye.

A convoy of police vehicles pull into the drive, the final cruiser blocking the gates. As the vehicles fan out through the driveway, the employees gather in the windows and at the edges of the lawns.
