  1. Can I take the three months (~90 days) instead of the 1 week/month (84 days) and still use them to take a week off every month or something similar?

Devil's advocate a little but in a world that had either of these options it wouldn't make sense for the timing to be forced :P

  2. @The_Fungus0909 You must be approved for Hall of Nations citizenship before your Mapplication™ can be approved. Please do so here ASAP and we'll get you moving forward.

Regarding your Mapplication™ itself, there are several issues:

    1. "Resident nation" refers to the nation you have residing in TWP gameside on Nationstates.net
    2. While you do not need a Discord account to participate in roleplay, we do highly suggest you join the TWP server and TWP Roleplay server, as they are the hubs for community communication. If you do so, we will need your Discord username to get you properly masked.
    3. "Map nation name" is the name you choose for the country you wish to create in the world of Esferos. As such, it does not need to match your NS nation name and it must not contain references to countries existing on Earth. This is expanded upon in the Guide thread, which is also pinned in this subforum
    4. Re: your nation's history, you must work out shared histories—in this case a potential history with Kalmach—with that person and not in your Mapplication™. Don't get too attached to a concept before you do this, as you cannot force someone else's country to have a certain relationship with your own.
    5. On fascism: As a government system and plot device, it is fine. However, the moment a fascist RP nation becomes a clone of the Third Reich or utilizes Nazi symbolism or known hate group imagery, a ban will be immediately and irrevocably levied. Enforcement is at the mods' discretion. There will be no warnings: be advised.
    6. See OT's comment

@Annix Your Mapplication™ looks good, we'll get you processed soon, my apologies for the delay.

  3. Heya folks! I'm doing some research on the history of our regional flag and am hoping to do a little crowdsourcing to fill some gaps and see what old images folks have on their computers. If there are any mistakes in what I've gathered so far, please let me know! If you've also got any other versions of regional flags or TWPAF flags, I would love to collate them here for this effort.

If anyone's got stories about the flag as well I'd love to hear them! I have a few of my own re: the most recent two flags that I'll add later.

This is what I've got so far, with a very small amount of research:

Late 2006-February 28, 2019, after Eli's first delegacy, courtesy of @Winnipeg, sourced here. Numerous slight variations were created over the years as old versions were deprecated and new ones were created. This is the earliest known version without the text from the one Dilber has:

March 1, 2019-February 18, 2020, Imperial China flag, note slightly off colors in the rays and field—that's the earliest one post-theme contest that I can find in the Cabinet Room on Discord. I fixed the second one up at a later date with the right ones, but I don't remember which was flown more often at the time, so I'm assuming it was the first:

Kornelius Ramsland, Koalisjon1 VR2 and ranking member of the Velktingets Utanrikskomite on recent Kalmash arms purchases

“Our work to end the long war in Hallessekratamia still continues, yes. We are watching closely as Kalmach has doubled down on their choice of violence with the recent purchase of a large number of new Zoranian fighter jets. It is of grave concern that some nations still see war profiteering as an acceptable policy.”

Zandar Vassbotn, independent sports commentator, on the Fujansk showing at the Rugby World Cup

“After several important wins, the Landslag has secured a place in the knockout round of the Rugby World Cup! Currently second in their group, they will likely play against Teralyon, Ostronia, or Hertfordia. in their first knockout match.”

Ferdinand Koren, Director of corruption watchdog Passepåare, posted on social media site, Galpås on crackdowns in United Adaikes

“Blatant violations of political freedoms cannot be allowed to stand. The government must push for an Astorian Union investigation into the imprisonment of Adaikesian blogger Brendan Shelton for criticizing Secretary of Trade Felice Colbert.”

Maiken Dahl, Professor of Sociology at Universitet i Rønnøn, in a lecture on piracy in the Mille-Mer

“You see, the issue here is not one of crime. It rarely is, in fact, as many of you know. Piracy flourishes in areas with high volumes of trade, low security, and low standard of living—making the southern Mille-Mer a perfect confluence of these. The deepest and easiest-to-navigate water lies just off the Auran coast, parts of the coast, especially in Dilber and Bilyad, have little in the way of stable collective authority, and because of this and historic exploitation, these areas have a very low standard of living. We cannot hardly blame people for seeking out opportunities to feed for their families, much as our own ancestors were forced to do a thousand years ago. I don’t think jets and warships will do much to fill a child's belly.”

Gert Sunde, member Fujais Landslaget i Rugby, on the team’s World Cup performance at presser in St. Andreisburg

“Honestly we’re just thrilled to play and we try to focus on that. Yeah at the end of the day someone has to win, but all of us are just here to play the sport we love and give the folks back home a good show. The outcome doesn’t matter in the end.”

Ayub Haugen, Utanriksstatsekretare3, on active military operations in the Mille-Mer

“We are watching the situation in the Mille-Mer closely. Teralyian jets have been sent to United Adaikes, and we are aware of a Teralyian and Adaikesian naval build up in the area. We have been apprised of the situation by our allies and have not yet received word of active threat. No Fujar are involved in the current deployment.”

    1. Koalisjon is a small, internationalist party in the Velkting, the Fujansk Parliament. It focuses on international leftist cooperation and countering Dalimbari influence.
    2. Stands for Velktingsrepresentare. Same concept as MP meaning Member of Parliament.
    3. State Secretary for Foreign Affairs, one of two who are second in command at the Utanriksministerjon (Foreign Affairs Ministry)

    Welcome @Campa Simpatica, @Clogia, and @Garahun!

For balancing purposes, some of your responses relating to your nation's basic statistics had to be changed. Please check the Big Book of Numbers and let us know via DM if you'd like any of them changed and we'll work on it together. You can also check out more info on balance in the Session Zero/Balancing Guidance. We encourage you to use the Sheets comment feature to comment desired changes on cells in your row and we'll update them for you (this also applies to blank cells).

The following balance changes were made:

      Hide contents

    Campa Simpatica:

    • Decreased requested land area

    Clogia:

    • Decreased requested GDP/Capita—above average was requested and average was given
    • Decreased requested land area
    • Increased requested population due to requested population density—to be below average population with average density, your country would need to have a much smaller area than requested. Keeping a similar area but with the requested total population would not mesh well with the otherwise large population centers along the Mille-Mer

    Garahun:

    • Increased requested population—below average was requested, average was given.
    • Decreased requested population density—above average was requested, below average was given.
      • Due to your large requested land area, an overall high population density would lead to much larger population. This population can obviously still be concentrated along the gulf
    • Decreased requested GDP/Capita—average was requested and below average was given due to the country's decades-long conflict and massive government focus on military over services.
    • Also, let me know what proportion of the country's population lives in the occupied area and I will note it on the Big Book of Numbers

Løva RiverLøva River, Fujansk Løvelven, or Løvelv, Kynsk Løvå, Dalimbari Sugoy, westernmost river of Fujai.

It rises from Fallen, the largest lake in Fujai and the Norrstand, and flows for 252 kilometers to the Hringhav, or Blue Sea, which it enters at a point 7 kilometers west of Fjaltring. The Løva River's lower course forms the boundary between Fujai and Dalimbar. The drainage basin is 40,786 square km, about one-eighth of which is in Dalimbar and Cambria. Due to its importance as a shipping route from the Falledalen mines, the entire course of the Løva has been made navigable. It has also been used for logging and is known for its salmon.

A series of islands at the mouth of the Løva have been disputed between Fujai and Dalimbar since 1369, four years after the end of the Second Northern War. The largest of the islands are Selkholm, Krasholm, Lindholm, and Stora Almsten. There have been several border incidents regarding these islands, the most serious of which occurring in 1388, in which six Fujansk sailors were killed and a patrol boat was sunk.

Saint Andreisberg, Dalimbar - For the first time in well over a decade, a Fujansk sports team has stepped foot in Dalimbar. The ongoing Rugby World Cup IV invites 28 nations of the world to Dalimbar in a reported show of magnanimity. Spectators must acquire a limited number of Rugby Blue Cards for entry, and are only allowed to visit the central portions of the host cities inhabited by ethnic Dalimbari. The Landslag will be playing their matches in the city of Kaisah, approximately 500 km south of Saint Andreisberg. // Read more.

Riekia, Gloibria - Leaving the 56th Annual Conference of the Rønnøn Forum, Utanriksrådgafar Kjell Midtbø was asked by journalists about the diplomatic boycott of the Rugby World Cup, saying this: "With the still-recent revelations surrounding 'Project Sitka' the government could not in good conscience sponsor state attendees to this sporting event. We wish all attending good luck and good fortune. That's all." Earlier investigation had uncovered that the Rådgafar's ministry indeed pushed Fujais Idrottsforbund to boycott the Cup altogether after qualifying, a move consistent with their party's less moderate stance on Dalimbar. // Read more.

Ludde, Fujai - A new contract between Nørensk and Varanius-based company ZygPort marks the first time since the 1380s a monthly liner service will be offered between Hasmark and Andolia. The new service is driven by increased desire to diversify imports and exports at both ends of the route. The ships will be primarily focused on bulk goods, but will have the capacity to carry containers and other cargo. // Read more.

Can I get on the map? If so could I get the white area of land between Saint Mark and Orandia. Also the capital could be on the coast of that bay area that's near Orandia's capital. My nation's name is Campa Simpatica.

Please follow the instructions at the beginning of this thread to submit your Mapplication™ and we'll get it processed.

Edit: you will also need to apply for TWP citizenship in the Hall of Nations, the place where you do this is also linked at the beginning of this thread.

    Fujai

Folkskommunarna Fujai (fu:'jaɪ, foo-yEYE) is a small coastal nation of just over 7 million residents, located in the north of the Polari continent. While Fujai has a long sporting history, rugby is not a commonly played sport. The sport is most common in rural and industrial areas of the country, particularly in the regions of Mærte and Felvenna. The Dalimbari are often credited with bringing modern rugby to Fujai during their occupation of parts of the country beginning in 1242.

    The Landslag

The Rugby Landslag is made up of the finest players in Fujai, though not many would be considered of truly international quality. It is sponsored by Fujais Rugby Idrottsforbund (FRIF - Fujansk Rugby Sports Federation), a member of Fujais Idrottsforbund (FIF - Fujansk Sports Federation). Most Landslag players come from Fujai's top league, Højserien, though a few come from the second league, Lågserien. The winningest clubs tend to be from the regions of Hasmark and Felvenna, where the sport is most popular.

The Landslag came in second at the First Rugby World Cup to Hertfordia and was knocked out in the quarterfinals of the Second and Third Cups by Zoran. For a nation not well-known for its rugby, its team has put up quite a fight, and all are watching to see what happens next.

    Fujais Idrottsforbund

Fujais Idrottsforbund (FIF) is the federation of labor unions representing all sports players and workers in sports-associated industries. It is separate from the Fujansk government, but receives accreditation and financial and infrastructural support from it. Its structure includes clubs at the local level (e.g. a local sports club), which are constituents of fylke organizations, which are a part of the larger federation representing specific sports (e.g. Fujais Fotbollforbund for football), which are then members of FIF.

    Fujais Rugby Idrottsforbund

Fujais Rugby Idrottsforbund (FRIF) is the labor union that governs some forms of football in Fujai and represents all players, related workers, and clubs in the country. The main sports under its purview are rugby union, sevens, and league and gridiron football. FRIF's Rugbyseksjon organizes the nation's rugby union league play, with eight clubs competing at the highest level.

The eight clubs that currently compete in the top flight of rugby union are:

    • Braskvik IF - Braskvik, Heldingland, Mærte
    • Bruland IF - Keiserholde, Keiserholde, Vestfjordarna
    • Linbukt KRF - Linbukt, Mærtesund, Mærte
    • Lakseåkar IF - Lakseåkar, Oppmærte, Mærte
    • Rønnon IL - Rønnon, Vørreshall, Jornstrand
    • Strand RL - Almoren, Elsøra, Felvenna
    • Tåkstads RK - Tåkstad, Mærtesund, Mærte
    • Vemdemning RF - Vemdemning, Vemselag, Mærte

    Important Notes (!)

Editor's note on gender: Fujansk culture does not have individual gender categories. The five common genders were historically recognized, though categories and classifications of gender expression have broken down in the last few centuries, resulting in today's non-categorical perception of gender. Since the Fujansk language does not have gendered pronouns, most Fujar choose choose to use gender-neutral pronouns when interacting in the common tongue, such as they/them. All players on the Landslag use they/them pronouns in the common language.

Translator's note: Landslaget translates to "The National Team," while Landslag translates to "National Team." In the common tongue, one would say "the Landslag did well" or "Landslaget did well," not "the Landslaget did well" (the translated equivalent of "the The Landslag did well"). This is because the Fujansk language uses suffixes to create definite nouns instead of articles. See Den Fujanske Ordboken (The Fujansk Dictionary) for more information.

Keiserholde, Fujai - Following the recent Project Sitka leak, the Utanriksministerjon has released a statement condemning the project's testing practices and demanding their end. In a press conference at Solrunsborg this morning, recently elected Utanriksrådgafar Kjell Midtbø addressed the rising tensions between Dalimbar and the Astorian Union, saying "The Stavka has been stoking the flames of discontent for well over a century, this is merely the most recent example." // Read more.

Blæslev/Rabav, XIII District, Occupied Kynmark, Dalimbar - A Kynsk extremist organization known as Nye Kynmark Hæren (NKH) has claimed responsibility for an explosion on a military train transporting grain and other foodstuffs from Western Dalimbar to Port Ain. The supplies were reportedly intended for use at military installations across Occupied Kynmark. The NKH is a controversial totalist organization that advocates for an independent Kynmark via militant and occasionally deadly means. // Read more.

Gensokyo, Hertfordia - In a highly anticipated match, the Landslag topped the Dalimbari Boys in Blue 2-0. This ended the long Dalimbari run in the World Cup, and triggered celebrations across Fujai amid diplomatic tensions between the two countries. The Landslag next meets Arifiyyah in the semifinals, and if successful will meet either Cambria or Nieubasria in the Final. This would mark the first time Fujai has made a podium finish at a World Cup. // Read more.
