  1. I recently received a telegram from their leader. Having seen my condemnation, they seem to think I am of like mind. I have not responded as I don't have time to decide if I should be offended or not. the Joke Condemnation is hee-fricken-larious!
  2. I think you might need to do that, Halo. Maybe a couple months? Drop me a PM, if you need details. Edit: also, my daughter told me there is a friends and family version when you use the app and the fees are greatly reduced (zero in the states and $1 for Canada). But I have not had a minute to check it out.
  3. @Winnipeg If you have not decided to put a link up for donations, it's coming to that time when one of us will need to cover the next couple months. Either way is fine, we just need to know so we can get it done
  4. I did some snooping and there are some things @Winnipeg can do to protect himself from an audit and be able to easily prove that he is not making a profit from any paypal or crowd sourcing transactions, which would be the main trigger for any tax implications. As long as there is no profit, it is below the threshold for being classified a hobby, so no tax. It is a matter of paperwork. It would be easiest, if he did not use the paypal account for anything except NS stuff. But as long as he keeps a detailed log of how much was donated and how much was spent, he will be fine (provided he doesn't find himself with extra at the end of the tax period.) Which brings us back to crowd sourcing applications. They provide detailed accounting and they can hold any extra funds without them counting as income. So, if someone was generous and donated a bunch, it could be held until needed as opposed to a paypal account that is attached to your bank account and therefore immediately counts as income. Another option is to donate to someone stateside who makes deposits to Winnie only as needed. What do you think Winnie? Do you have a preference or another idea outside the box?
  5. Since I'm the EA in the group, let me snoop around about Canadian Tax rules as it applies to using crowd sourcing. I will also look into rules around setting up an account and implications (Can I set it up and admin it, or will Winnie need to do it? Are there rules about cross border ownership of a funding source etc) I am in meetings all of Thursday evening and overnight into Friday evening. So any serious research will be done over the weekend, with a significant break for corned beef and cabbage and Jameson (You can keep your Guinness) : ) I will have a better handle on any legal/tax implications by Monday. Which will leave us with the more difficult, sticky issues involving human beings and their silly emotions.
  6. Amerion was already a member of the Hall of Nations
  7. We are not looking for a new forum. Unless Winnie says to hell with us, I never want to change our arrangement. Frankly, having come from the days when forums were a risky place to reveal your IP, Winnie is the only person in the whole of NS I trust to be objective about forum/server ownership. So logistically, we are only talking about a means to get donations to pay for the forum/server as it exists now. It is a question of 1) how do we fairly collect donations, 2) how do we honestly and fairly get those donations either into Winnie's hands to pay the bills or into an account that directly pays for things. When I spoke of a platform above, I meant one of those crowd sourcing platforms... the names of which escape me now. Charities use them all the time for donations. We just have to figure out how to do it. And we have to figure out a way to be transparent about it. Some sort of accounting report delivered to the contributors maybe? I dunno. Just brain storming here. We will need Winnie's input to know how much we need to break even and if he would feel more comfortable with any of this. Edit: Did a little research. https://quickbooks.intuit.com/r/crowd-funding/8-crowdfunding-sites-which-is-best-for-you/ My favorite thus far is.. 6. GoGetFunding GoGetFunding may be a site you’ve heard less about despite the fact that it’s been around since 2011. But, it’s another great option, particularly for those who are looking for some flexibility in terms of the projects they can fundraise for. Additionally, GoGetFunding allows fundraisers to keep the money raised—whether they meet their target or not. Who It’s Good For: GoGetFunding empowers users to raise funds for any cause—whether it’s business-related, personal or for a nonprofit. What It Costs: GoGetFunding charges a fee of 6.9%, which sounds high when compared with the others. However, it’s worth noting that this fee includes both the platform fee and the payment processing fee—making this one a bit more cost-effective than most of the other options out there.
  8. I agree, that special considerations should not be part of the contribution package because not everyone has the means to contribute and that should not be counted against them. Perhaps a badge or some means by which a person can choose to self identify or remain anonymous. I'm positive there are ways to crowd source with the option to stay anonymous or name yourself. I have used them before. But I have not set one up and don't know how to do it. Any members here have an idea of a good platform and some idea of how to do it?
  9. Masked the Villain. I'm not sure about the emoji. If another Admin knows how to add them, cool. Otherwise you will have to wait a while for me to have time to mess around behind the curtain to find it. I don't see having time for extras until the last week of March. I've got a busy RL schedule coming up.
  10. You can always re-apply for citizenship, if that is what you are asking. Real Life comes first. Periods of inactivity are inevitable.
  11. Done, Halo. @Dalimbar , I had a Deputy Speaker Mask to add for Maddy and Wyvern got Sargent at Arms Masking added. But we have no mask for the Education role. And no Deputy function for FA. If Khanter needs specific rights in the FA forum, perhaps I can add the Minister mask in the background for him. Let me know what you want.
  12. Done. Note: admins dont carry any other masking. We see everything! [/reverb]
  13. It's always good to see military experience coming to TWP. Welcome!
  14. Citizens are masked. Welcome! I don't have time to check this right now. Will get to it this evening. I don't think we have appropriate masks.
  15. I think we need to fix your masking so you can lock and move topics in the WA area using the moderation CP. I'll get that done asap.
