  1. Hi all,

I hope this will post because things are happening here in Blue Bubble.

The Military has stormed the parliament building and has declared us as Glenpavia and a closed nation. I am in the car now as my parents are driving to the border of Giovanniland. There is a lot of traffic.

I don't want to be under this kind of rule. We slowly became better, and I think things are going to get worse again.

We now know what other countries are like, and I want to be like them.

Our social network is being patchy now, so many people are trying to leave with us or protesting.

We don't know where Kassakira is. She wasn't in parliament at the time of the coup.

I hope me and my family will be okay.

I hope we can go home to what Blue Bubble would have become soon.

May above and below guide us.

"Still no luck?" Aina asks the manager. They shake their head. She sighs and tilts her head, confirming a decision in her head. “Fine… I’ll become coach. You know my arms haven’t been the best, so I need a rest and… I think I can see Captain suitability in a few other players.” she says, almost reluctantly. The manager looks at her, contemplating it for a few moments. “Okay. You choose the new captain, and We carry on training. Saves us cutting one from the team, I suppose.” She nods, and walks back out of the office. Ness looks at her, wide eyed “You really-”

Aina cuts her off, “Yes. And I think you deserve the captain position - you connect better with the rest. I think we will be better this way… Making a good thing out of a bad position.” She sounded frustrated. Ness pats her arm, looking at her. Thankful. Conflicted. “Story of my life. Thank you… Coach. Let's tell the others.”

    Now

Aina goes over the footage of United Adaikes' latest match play again. She pauses it. Scribbling a note on the tablet and adding a screenshot of the pause to it, she almost misses the knock at the door. She looks up, shoving her stuff to the side on the bed, and gets up to open it. Behind the door, Ness stands there, having barely limped to her room.

“Ness? Everything okay?” Aina frowns, moving to let her walk in.

Ness looks around the hotel room. “Yeah, You seemed worried at dinner.”

Aina closes the door behind her, “Of course. UA is the strongest team we will have faced yet. I just want us to do well.” She walks over to her bed, picking up the tablet. “Take a seat.”

Ness does that, watching her “And? You spent years in an after school club which picks out faults of others-”

“That is not how debate club works” Aina frowns at her as she sits opposite to her.

“I am sure it is, anyway, you can find holes in anything. So what have you found?” Ness looks at the tablet.

Aina holds back a giggle, “Enough, I hope. Here, I have written it down.” She passes the tablet, flicking back to page one of the virtual notebook.

Ness spends some time flicking through the notes, “Your handwriting is so dainty. But good points made… Do you need any help? I mean, I am only a spare right now, so I can spend some time staying up late.”

Aina looks up at the TV, “Sure, I guess. The Bed is more comfy if you rather lay on that than this sofa” She takes the Tablet off Ness.

Ness nods, “Thanks, My knee is basically fine now” she says as she slowly walks to the bed on the other side of Aina.

    “Mhm, clearly.” Aina presses play.

The TV shows the Blue Bubble vs Giovanniland Rugby game, with commentary by Jak and James.

James: And they are just pushing down the field! We are currently 6 points away from a tie, and it's about 2 minutes to go. This is phenomenal.

Jak: Oh my god, he's got it. One last throw to the ground, it's a try and brings us to a goal kick. This is strong. 14-13. 1 more minute to go.

James: Of course, the Conversion kick. The country holds their breath.

Jak: He's… HE'S DONE IT. LEKAN KISEM HAS MANAGED IT, BRING US TO A WIN WITH A MINUTE TO GO.

James: 15-14. Is it too early to celebrate?

Jak: it's never too early in my books

The sound of Jak moving about on set is heard, along with James trying to not laugh.

James: The ball is back in play, not much now, we just have to defend ourselves.

Jak, sounding far away from the microphone: make sure Tennie asks what she's feeding them because they are ON FIRE.

James: they are certainly doing well, they have really evolved as a team now against other well known opponents.

Jak still far away: have they won yet?

James: no, a few seconds now… and yup we are through to the quarterfinals! We will have to wait to find out whom we will be against, but what delight!

The TV shows the team coming together to celebrate, Ness and Aina hugging each other on the sideline

James: and there is the new coach Aina Eglitis and new captain Ness Kayo. They have been excellent on advice on the sideline, clearly both have an idea of what the team can and need to do- what's this?

Jak: The best rum I could buy on-

The TV cuts the audio off for an audio of the stadium, as Blue Bubble heads back to the locker room. There is Tennie following them, asking how they feel.

Lekan: I feel amazing, we keep putting in the hard work and effort, and it keeps paying off. I hope it will continue

He walks past and Tennie stops Ness and Aina, asking the same thing.

Ness: honestly great! I have loved seeing my team achieve what they keep achieving, and I have picked up a lot from sitting out too.

    Aina: welcome to my life

    They all laugh

Aina: they are a great group of people, and they always give 110%. So I'm proud of them, they are really becoming what I hope they would become.

They head inside and Tennie grins at the camera, having got a message a few seconds prior in her ear about Jak's antics

Tennie: and there we have it, Blue Bubble is in the Semi-final, and they are going in strong. They are a lovely group, and I think I can speak for every Glenpavian that we are proud of them too. Aina has really pushed the team into shape after a month without a coach, and despite losing her captain position, seems in a good place to continue coaching. Back to the studio.

The studio was surprisingly still clean, and James was sitting on a sofa, two empty drinks on a glass table between him and Jak.

    James, smiling: Thank you, Tennie.

  4. Ness screams with glee at the final try. Her team had been thrashing the competition and with seconds to go, there was no chance of Hertsfordshire and Jammbo winning now. She had lightly injured her leg again within the first 10 minutes, so she had been watching from the sidelines with Aina fussing every couple of seconds.

Aina hisses a joyful 'Yessss' as the time counts down. The team has been working hard and their effort has been paying off. Tomorrow's game would be the most important, and Aina had little advice for them to improve. She had been watching Giovanniland's recent games, and noting their play style. Finding weaker points. They were a strong team, no doubt about that. She had then been feeding these points in the form of advice to her team. Not targeting the other team, not mentioning that that was what Giovanniland was weaker in. Just advice. They had used some of it in the game today.

Ness reaches over and hugs her. "Mind your leg!" She replies worriedly as she hugs her back. The rest of the team rushed over and joined in, squishing the two.

Aina had helped Ness walk back to the locker room, where a medic checked over her leg for the 2nd time. Aine waited as the rest of the team got changed.

After, she got them to huddle around her for her post game speech. "Excellent work everyone, you didn't let any drama hold you down or hold you back. I can see you all took my advice to heart and used it. Keep using it. Here are some further points we need to focus on -"

Kasper walks in, listening in. He was proud of Aina. She had taken on the role of coach easily, and was playing it well. She knew how to help her team, where to place her advice and how to phrase it. Her demonstrations were flawless. He still wasn't too sure why she gave up the captain role to be the coach after the last one passed away.

Aina walks over. "Everything okay?" She smiles at the man in deep thought. He nods "I was going to ask you the same thing." He pats her upper arm, a sign of care. She looks over at Ness, who was watching back. "Yeah. I'm worried about Ness, I don't want her to be out for longer than another game." She huffs. "Cute." Kasper follows her line of sight "I'm sure she will survive." He waves at Ness, and she waves back politely.

A few hours later, Aina hears a knock at her hotel door. She finishes tightening the belt of her jumpsuit and opens it to see Ness there. She had a crutch under one arm, and her smile was contagious. "The Team is going to eat now, so I've come to pick you up." She jests. Aina inspects her trouser and shirt combo as she replies "Sure. Let me just grab my phone and that." She motions for Ness to come in as she turns away from the door. Ness holds the door open as she grabs her things "A bit mean of them to send the injured one to collect me." She jokes, pocketing her phone. "I volunteered." Ness shrugs, moving out of the way for her to close the door behind them.

"Still, you should be taking it light. Want me to take your bag?" She asks as they walk down the hall. Ness passes it. "What were you and Kasper talking about? You seem close." She sounded nervous almost. "Kasper used to be my mentor when I did archery. He helped convince my parents to change the focus to Rugby. A good friend, and I trust him well. He was just asking about me, and I mentioned you." She shrugs, taking slower steps to keep with Ness. "He's known to be a bit of a flirt. Be careful-" Ness's warning is cut off by laughter. "Kasper knows who is available for him. He keeps trying to set me up with a friend of his sister. She's pretty but I don't want to deal with politics all the time." Aina pushes the down button for the lift, not noticing the blush on Ness's face. "Oh okay… I spoke to my mother by the way. She's excited now so you can't back out." She says as the elevator pings and the door opens. Aina puts her arm across so the doors won't close as Ness shuffles in. "I wouldn't dream of it."

  5. Aina watches as the team spends a few minutes to relax.

The hotel that the team had been put in was certainly as luxurious as per what her parents paid towards. She was just glad that her name didn't mean she would be waited on hand and foot.

Ness walks over and sits beside her. "Hey Aina, are you alright?"

The question caught her off guard, the ripples of the poolside come back into her ears as she looks up at her. She smiles gently as she responds "yeah. I just have a lot on my mind." She sits up.

Ness smiles "Well, can I lighten the load?"

Aina knew where Ness had come from. In Glenpavia, there are two kinds of schools:

    1. The Military schools that the likes of her and Kassakira and Kasper Petrovikan attended. The highest quality education that could be provided, training in obeying and ruling with a strong hand. Many students lead a wealthy life after graduation - whether from old money or new.

    2. The General schools that the likes of Ness and Tennie the Reporter attended. The education was up to code, but those who switch from general to military say it just lacks the edge that military has. Maybe it was really the lack of investors too. Students like Ness and Tennie are rare - average schools create average citizens. That's what her mother used to say.

"I think you would laugh. Posh girl stuff." She almost laughs. Ness sighs "Stop dividing us like that. You try and understand my 'poor girl stuff' so let me try and understand yours." She replies frustrated.

Aina kind of folds up, her shoulder screaming at the ache of the stretch. She hadn't been working out as well as she should had been recently, and it was taking affect. "I know. But you should focus on the game tomorrow. You need to win."

Ness huffs, inspecting her back. "And we will do our best to do so. We needed to work on our defense, and it's really improved. And your advice in the lockers will really help. Have you got a knot in your shoulder?"

Aina nods, and Ness moves to sit behind her on the sunbed. She shuffles so she is for the most part comfortable in such a awkward position, having to lay against the propped up back of the sunbed to actually move her arms.

Ness had actually did a course on sports massage therapy a few months prior, and it was paying off. Aina finally replies, pained but relieved "my parents are already disappointed in me. I don't know why I care - I mean… they wanted me to go into Archery, and now it's like I already haven't lived up to their standards by being the coach- ow" she ends her speech with a whine.

Ness grabs her arm and pulls it back and down "relax your shoulders, you're just building up tension. Carry on."

Aina drops her shoulders "so like… if we don't win or get into a decent place, I'll just have disappointed them further. They have said that. I'd be disowned. Money and that won't be a issue but I don't want to lose my family."

Ness thinks for a moment "Blood is important, but this team you've been working with for the past year… I see it as one big family. My mother has been desperate to meet you for months now, wanting to test her family own recipe of fish soup since I mentioned you went for the sea bass… again." She smiles "Family comes in many forms, and I think we can make sure you have family. The kind that don't see you as a disappointment for going after your dreams."

Aina doesn't reply as Ness carries on working her shoulder. Finally she says "Make sure you all get enough sleep tonight. H and J won't make tomorrow easy on us." Her tone serious.

Ness laughs "I'll pass the message on. You know they call you Neny right?"

"What do you mean They? The team?" She turns to look at her, pausing Ness's help.

"Yeah. It's Neny Aina and Neny Ness. Because we care about them like mothers do."

Aina grins, and it reaches her eyes for once. "That's cute. Do you not call me that?"

Ness shakes her head "I rather not. You are junior to me afterall." She jokes.

Aina scoffs "by 5 months! We would had been in the same year at school you know!"

"Yeah, but you would had been a popular girl and I'd just be the rugby dork!" She giggles, in the way that held some honestly in her voice.

"Oh no, I'd be right beside you as a rugby dork too" Aina scoots round to face her star player, and her captain.

"What? With a pretty face like that?" It was Ness's turn to scoff "Never. All the boys would be all over you."

Aine rolls her eyes "I wouldn't had given them any attention." She grumbles, blushing at the compliment.

They both became painfully aware of how close they were, when they heard a glass smash. They turn to the sound to see a elderly lady laughing over her own perhaps slightly drunken mishap.

Ness gets up, and Aina glances up at her. "I will give the team a pep talk now.." she looks back at her, nerves peaking at the end of her sentence.

Aina nods at the suggestion "sounds good. I'll follow in 5." She looks back at the pool "Your mother. I don't mind meeting her when we get home."

Ness smiles "I'll let her know."

((OOC: This is my final post unless Bran responds and I have time to reply :) ))

  6. Kassakira walks across the park, enjoying the sun in Leo Rugiet. Finally, she stopped in a good spot, and sat on the bench in the sunshine. She sighs. It's been a long week. She watches some kids play in the park. She had worked a lot to get to this moment in her life, but what has she actually got to show for it?

A quaint apartment, bodyguards, and people thinking she deserves the most respect ever. She doesn't. She's just a human, just like them. This is why she likes not making a scene, or a grand entrance. After all, she has spent years in the spotlight. Her great grandfather couped the government into military power for years. Her grandfather started the most prestigious military school in the country. Her mother owned one of the top technology companies in the nation.

Obviously she had to do something amazing. Her brother now has a bronze medal and is ranked highly in the world for archery. What would he had achieved if it wasn't for her?

She didn't know. She didn't want to know.

Those who dare to think, achieve things never thought would be achievable. But those thoughts are dangerous. Somethings are unachievable for a reason

Her grandfather lived by that kind of advice.

Has she done right for her country? Results are still uncertain. She snaps out of her thoughts and gets up. No use wasting time on silly thoughts. She heads back to the hotel.

Tennie walks into the bar after the last cricket interview. It was with the coach and manager - not fun at all for her. It's not that she doesn't like cricket,  it's just not her chosen sport of preference.

She sat down at the counter and ordered. A Martini as normal. Suddenly the seat beside her was no longer vacant.

Bernard smiles "Hey my number 1 interviewer!"

She turns and looks at him "Oh, Hi my number 1 captain!" She gives him a polite smile back.

He orders a IPA and hands the bartender his card when they come over with her drink. "So, I watched your interview tonight, you did great. You were nervous before our interview but it never shows up on camera. It's amazing"

Tennie giggles "Thank you. I think it helps that you fit the camera well."

Bernard grins "I think you would too, if you were not doing the news meeting interviews. Like if you were actually on screen. Doing the interview."

"You're just full of compliments tonight." She glances away, taking a sip of her drink.

"Its just because I'm in beautiful company" He takes the drink from the bartender.

    Now

She checks her messages, reading a reply from Bernard

"Babe, make sure you relax too. Have a martini and not chat up the next cute captain x

She rolls her eyes as the team sits down for their interview, and puts her phone away.

The cameras start rolling and she sits up. "Thank you for your time, congratulations on your win! How are you feeling?"

Ness smiles "amazing, the whole team is buzzing and our hard work has paid off. I am proud of us and I think the only way is up!"

Tennie smiles "I agree, and how about our game tomorrow against Hertfordshire and Jammbo?"

Ness looks at her other team players "Yeah, we have been training hard. We both have one win and one loss so it's important for us to win. And I have my confidence in my team to push and work hard to get the points we need to win."

Tennie grins "Beautifully said." She felt her phone vibrate in her pocket.

"wait wait I've been busy... A WOMAN IS THE CAPTAIN?!?!?!? Ignore my last message fml"

  8. 3 years ago

Aina exhaled as she releases the string. Another perfect shot. Kasper claps as he stands up to give her advice. She hands him the bow.

    "How's Kassakira?"

He takes the bow and readys the arrow. "She is doing well, the international viewing ban was lifted thanks to her work."

She nods as he takes aim, watching from his side "Yeah.. the Rugby world cup seems really cool..." she replied, sounding like there was hidden behind her words

He releases, the arrow just touching her previous shot. "I know you put a lot of effort into Rugby, and your parents prefer Archery."

She takes the bow back off him, clumsily clicking the arrow in. "Yeah. I prefer Rugby. I've been trying to add muscle so I can play better."

He smiles as he watches her take aim, and reaches to correct her "I can speak to your parents if you want. Better off disappointing them with this than-"

She huffs, letting him correct her "that seems like a good idea. I see a lot of stuff about Rugby online and I think it would be a better route for me..." she lets go and the shot hits both arrows before falling to the ground.

He doesn't take the bow "I agree. Leave this Archery stuff to me." He smiles, petting her head. "I'll always be in your corner Aina."

"Thank you, I hope I can play in the 1st world cup we are in." She thinks out loud, ducking out of his affection.

    Now

Aina exhaled as she watches her team take a shot. It was improving. She stands up to give advice as Kasper appears behind her. She smiles.

    "How's the team?"

She looks back at them as they play "They are doing well, the first game is giving them strength through the disappointment."

He nods as they watch a tackle "That's good. I was surprised to hear that you took the coaching position."

She doesnt look at him as she speaks "Well... someone had to do it. I'm a team player afterall." There was obviously a hidden message behind her reply.

He puts a hand on her shoulder "You're on my number 1 for this year by the way. Playing or not."

She smiles, shaking off his hand. "Thanks. For being in my corner still."

  9. 22 hours ago, Bran Astor said:

Hours earlier in the Darkesian Sea, near Saint Ludger

"Starboard beam," Meyers said. Coming abeam now, speed constant, straightening out, distance about fourteen hundred, I think." The sonarman wiped sweat from his hands on his trousers.
Hang in there kid, you got this, the captain thought. The entire crew was acting like a professional.
"The turn has stopped on the starboard bow. Contact has settled back down on two-one-zero." Meyers looked up with a grin. "We got 'em again, Skipper."
"Good work, gents." Carroll went back to the attack center. The Chaudière Bay was dead in the water, slowly drifting downward with a slight negative trim.
"Alright, let's get her back on track. Build up slowly to twelve knots." A handful of seconds later a near imperceptible thrum began as the power plant pushed the boat forward.
"Attention, this is the captain," Carroll said into the sound-powered phone. The electrical units were turned off, and watch-standers in the compartments relayed his message. "The Glenpavian boat circled us again without picking us up. Well done." He placed the phone back in its rack.
"Mr. Bolmer, get us back on her tail."
"Aye, Skipper. Right eight degrees rudder, helm."
"Right eight degrees rudder, aye." The helmsman repeated the order while turning his wheel. Fifteen minutes later the Chaudière Bay was back astern of her contact.
"How do you feel about celebrating yesterday's game, Skipper?" Chief Janssen asked.
Carroll chuckled at the suggestion. He had been so focused on this latest Glenpavian field trip he nearly forgot his boy in his first world cup.
"Mr. Bolmer, what is the distance to the contact?"
    "Steady at two thousand yards."
"Increase speed to fifteen knots. Get us in nice and close. COB, ready the speakers."
"Aye, Skipper!" the COB and navigator both responded with devilish grins.
Minutes later the deathly silent attack submarine roared passed her contact with Raven Shabbat's classic hit Crazy Train blaring over the electric speakers in every compartment. There was no doubt the Glenpavian boat was now well aware she had company.

    President of the Seven Hundred,

I am writing to you on behalf of our current leader, Mpitarika Kassakira Petrovikan, concerning recent events involving our naval personnel. She has requested that I handle current communication on this matter to keep privacy at this time.

In the morning of 09FEB22, our general commands centre received intelligence of your endeavour of addressing an illicit border crossing by one of our naval ships. Upon further investigation, we have discovered that this has happened multiple times over the past year - dating back to 30MAR21. I express my apologies towards this situation, and have halted current monitoring by naval vessels there until further notice, instead we are monitoring our Territorial borders double fold.

Due to the way this was handled by your officers, I would like to ask for a verbal conversation on the matter to focus on what to do going forward. As a Military man myself, I have noted the training that was practised in this situation, and I am impressed by the skills of your force. As of current, our ship has been placed under maintenance review and our officers on paid leave while we continue our investigation.

I hope for your reply in earnest and with eagerness.

    Meklit Guntur

    Pahefana Ny Miara

Kassakira Petrovikan's heels click across the real wood flooring as she grumbles into the phone.

The Trano Vao was what historians call 'The Pinnacle of post-independence Glenpavian architecture', a home for the nation's leader and its politics. Kass had decided not to move in, stating that home and work should be separate. Still, she spent much more of her time here than at home. Not what she wanted, but needs must.

What doesn't help her wish for home time is diplomatic incidents

She does another loop of her office. "How can you accidentally cross maritime borders 7 times?" She says, a little too calmly to actually be calm. One hand was on the phone, and the other rubbing the temples of the headache that has started to form. The answer wasnt exactly to her standards. "Are they aware? They did wh- You are kidding me right? You are actually messing with me? This is a joke. Don't play games with me Guntur." She replies, stopping in her 10th lap.

"I have a flight to Zoran in 12 hours, what do you expect me to do?" She growls "This is going to be expensive Guntur, and it is going to come out of your budget." She waits for the reply to finish before hanging up. Throwing the phone on her desk, she walks out. PR is not going to be happy.

The team walk back into the changing room, Aina following in. Ness was clearly kicking herself, and Lekan was clearly not in a good mood.

Aina looks at them all "For all that is my heart, cheer up!" She wasn't exactly the quietest "yes okay we lost, but we gave them a fight for it - 6-3 is a good score. We held our own, and we were hard on them." She snarls, showing her often hidden feistness.

Kasper walks in, nodding to the end of her sentence he overheard "you're a strong team. Untested, unrivalled. One of the best things we have to our advantage right now is that no one knows us or how we play. It worked wonders in the Esferiad, so let's get that same thing again." He points out

Ness looks at the team "You have a point... we just feel like crap for losing."

Kasper shrugs "Its your first game, its bound to be difficult. You know how the other teams play though. Adapt and improvise."

Aina thinks for a moment "I will revise the team for our next match, so we are at our strongest for as long as possible. You guys are great at what you do, don't let our first match bring you down."

Lekan sighs, having actually perked up a bit. He drums the tune of a well known song on a locker door, and one of the others start humming along as they start getting changed.

Aina walks out, followed by Kasper. "What are you thinking?" She asks him. He thinks for a moment on his reply "well, the guys just need confidence. But that comes with playing. Be the confidence they need, and the rest will fall into place.". She nods "agreed. Tell Jax and James that the team are coming out of this stronger and ready to try again.". Kasper smiles "I will... take care alright?". Aina rolls her eyes, returning the smile, "you need to stop caring about me and start caring about you"

Kasper laughs, and walks off, already calling the studio.

  12. image.png.57e715f9d195b9c624165e3d5bda8b76.png

The GSN theme tune ends and pans to Jak and James sitting on the couch at the studio in Kopai.

For once, they look pretty professional, which was almost expected. International TV was allowed to be broadcasted in Blue Bubble 2 years prior and The Rugby World Cup was ranked one of the highest international sporting events which citizens wanted to enter and loved to watch. Today did not mark a momental moment for Blue Bubble as such, but for the citizens, the team meant a lot to be travelling to Zoran for the event.

Travelling with them was Landel Akom, the go-to PR manager after the Cricket last year, Tennie Koler, the network's main Sports interviewer, and Kasper Petrovikan, the well respected brother of the Mpitarika. As well as conducting interviews and work on the ground for the network, he was on the lookout for his Esferiad committee successor and to report on the team's success.  They had arrived earlier that day via boat, a request made by the coach Aina Eglitis. Aina and many of the team had been the figureheads of the Rugby teams at home, a sport which had gathered a lot of attraction since the first world cup.

James looks at the Camera, and shoots yet another award winning grin. "Welcome!" he says, reading the teleprompter, "To Blue Bubble's first Rugby World Cup! And we cannot wait to be the eyes in the sky for all your Rugby needs."

The Camera pans to Jak "On the ground, we will have the beloved Tennie, fresh from Maternity leave, and the chaotic Kasper to keep you up to date on the team and more!"

"Zoran is a very fresh nation due to the situation of last year - and honestly, I feel like Blue Bubble can have a bit in common with a nation which is still in a state of repair." James says respectfully and thoughtful "After all, as it comes up to a year with open boarders, Blue Bubble still has a lot of things to catch up on. Even though we had trade agreements with Giovanniland, we are still working on a lot."

Jak nods, "I think that was one of the reasons that we stuck to one city for the Esferiad - As a tourist city, Kharventhin is one of our more stable and well built cities. Anyway, The Rugby! We have a strong team, a lot of these guys are on the younger part of their 20s and spent time in military school. They are tough, a completely different team to our cricketers."

The show continues on, with a look into the main team and the secondary team. Shots of them all training together were shown, highlighting how much the 31 member team can actually work together.

Meanwhile, Kasper sat at a bar, not listening to Landel talk about her campaign for the swimming team during the Esferiad. Tennie was behind him, talking to Bernard on the phone. She seemed to had been trying to tell him how exactly to sing their child's favourite nursery rhyme, and failing a lot. He looked across the bar, and eventually met eyes with Aina. He rolls his eyes at her, motioning to Landel, and he could see her chuckle. She turns back to her team, giving them a run down of what is expected of them and what is not, and he looks back at Landel. She was still talking.

    II Summer Esferiad Closing Ceremony

It was starting to get dark, and everyone was seated around Violet Lake. In the centre of the lake was a platform. It edged to 8pm, and everyone had started to get quiet. King Giovanni VI and Kassakira Petrovikan were sat on the bottom row, near a podium with a microphone. Lights shone onto a lonesome bed with a small child and their mother on the platform. The audience quietened immediately.

“Eny, can you tell me a story?” the child looks up at their mum.

“I can tell you something better, let me tell you a legend.” she replies softly, as the lights slowly dim again, and the drumming starts.

Boats are gently lit up with red lights, each paddle causing ripples of colour as they start to move in sync around the platform. On each boat, people stand on the flat roof, performing a traditional dance of the Glendora People, stomping and shouting an ancient cry of warning. The boats start to move between each other, with dancers hopping from one boat to another. They approach the platform, and the drums start to finish. The platform lights up, showing Lavandulan style dancers. The music changes and they begin to dance, with the boats’ lights turning off. The Glendora Dancers merge and they begin to dance together. You notice that each dance has a different feel - the first was of strength and curiosity, the next of culture and understanding, and the final of acceptance and belonging. The moves become more like ballroom as the first boats quietly move away for another set of boats to arrive.

The following set of moves depict the north and south divide, and the triumph of Giovanniland. Done gracefully, it showed Glendora dancers willfully following the Giovanni style performers, before a change happened. The boats coming into the platform were of Glenpavia resistance dancers, swapping with the Glendora performers in the style. They show the uprising, and the forming of the nation in interpretive dance. The platform was shown on screens above behind the audience, showing the platform depicting images and motifs of the era’s history.

Eventually, the song changes to a more modern one as they go though recent Blue Bubble events, like the military coup, the push for democracy, and opening of the borders. This final event started the athletes' entry, each country on as many open top boats as required, as the dancers left the platform.

Each boat had the countries’ flag on the front, with some athletes choosing to sit during the ride. They were announced in Common only as followed, In Common alphabetical order, with the hosts at the end as per the opening ceremony:

    • Arifiyyah
    • Dalimbar
    • Dilber
    • Fhaengshia
    • Fuentana
    • Fujai
    • Hertfordshire and Jammbo

    • Santos-Dominius
    • Tara and Cambray
    • Teralyon
    • Tupmonia
    • United Adaikes
    • Glenpavia
    • Giovanniland

Once everyone had arrived at the centre, they walked onto the platform. The final medals were awarded, and Gabriello Hiberno-Elisano, President of the Quoriv & Kharventhin Organising Committee of the Esferic Games, and Chi Ijendu, Chair of the International Esferiad Commission, each gave a speech on the games.

A moment of silence was held for the deaths of athletes that had happened during the games, with small lights placed on the water by volunteers as a small act of remembrance. The screens cut to the flame in Giovanniland, as commentary states that water from Violet Lake is being used to put out the flame. Kassakira Petrovikan and King Giovanni VI then both announced the closure of the games, finishing with a firework display which glittered in the reflection of the water. The air was buzzing with delight, amazement, joy, and cheer, and that feeling kept long after the ceremony was over.
