Coloured text for the three spoiler titles, if that's possible,
Colour the text " Board of Questions" and a check please on:

Please just leave my mod rights in the http://www.westpacific.org/forums/index.php?/forum/63-ns-daily-issues/ subforum, coz I've got a helluva housecleaning to do there.

Why of course! Anyway that I am able to help in any capacity I will indeed! If you're specifically looking for someone to do RPGs then I may not prove to be that person. Should you wish me as an adviser then I'm sure I'll be pleased to advise you. Didn't you say you needed more decision making opinions? Yeah, that can be me.

    1. How capable are you of understanding other people?:
    2. Is your understanding of sci-fi and/or modern technology fairly sufficient?:
    3. If you don't know how something works, are you capable of looking it up on Wikipedia and sorta getting a decent idea of what it is?:
    4. Do you have a Discord? Can you go get one? Will it be on most of the time you are home?:
    5. Do you understand Paper and Pen games or RPGs, the community depends on us to make them work and run them or run the people who run them:
    6. Are you at funny or at least angry in a pouting and slightly cute way? If not, can you swear in a way that sounds cool?:
    7. Are you prepared to always improve and help someone who is very triggered, to improve as well, even if they never make any sense or talk endlessly?:
    8. Did you feel endlessly annoyed by this application or was it mildly funny?:

If you are looking for a quote unquote "warm body bounce ideas off of and help me make decisions" then I am sure that I could be that person should you like me to be. I have a ton of creative ideas and I enjoy letting my imagination run wild when given an assignment that requires a bit of thought. Need some decisions made?! I'm there!  Full disclosure, I have never been one to be seen in RolePlay activities or forum festivals, as I mainly deal with the gameplay side of NationStates (being skilled in both foreign affairs and military affairs respectively). But I mean, I would love to get brainstorming with you and help The West Pacific grow and improve any possible way I am able to do so. So if you're still looking around for someone then please do consider speaking with me. I understand that I may be very new to TWP, but that's never stopped me in the past  Who knows, maybe it'll even be good for me to branch out and try something new in an environment in which I am still under your direction and serve at your pleasure. But yeah, I'm up!

Hello Comrades! Greetings and well-wishes to you!
The Ministry of the Interior continues it's job of faithfully executing and purging boredom from our midst. This has included the polling of fellow Comrades such as yourself, to learn the best ways to root out and eliminate the Imperialist dogs of boredom.
However, this grand operation requires a lot of thought and is much work upon our Vice-Minister and our Minister by extension. Our ambitions are vast and grand, the needs of the people just as wide, and so the ministry much expand.
YOU! That's right, you! You could be the next extension of our glorious Ministry of Interior, working with our crazed and insane Vice-Minister to accomplish the insane and maddening ideas he has.
We have only one slot for Secretary of Interior, a glorious third position, which comes with honor, a brilliant uniform, two rations for your family, and a shiny new CZ-82 pistol.
Only the most capable and creative get the position, which could be any of you. Opening link is below.

If you would like to put something together as a regional telegram asking for assistance, I'm sure that Badger will agree for it to be put to the assembled company so you can ... Wintreath Foreign Update 9 - Spring 2016 (I know it's late!)

Government of Wintreath   Monarch: Wintermoot Jarl of Culture: Pengu Jarl of Defense: Chanku Jarl of Foreign Affairs: Wintermoot Jarl of Integration: Vacant Jarl of WA Affairs: Reon

      Revocation of Govindia's Citizenship
Written by Sapphiron   The Storting deliberates the matter at hand.

Within 48 hours after the announcement of the fifteenth Underhusen election results, there was a re-emergence of public discussions regarding the revocation of Govindia’s citizenship. Unlike last year, such an occurrence was hardly surprising, for it was preceded by a firm warning during the campaign period not to abuse the moderation reporting tool to report candidates “for refusing to answer campaign questions” as well as an indefinite ban from the IRC for persistent harassment (repeatedly demanding an apology and resorting to personal attacks for declining to answer his queries) against a fellow Wintrean despite repeated warnings and being placed on probation.    On the 19th of April, after much discussion amongst the members of the Storting, the revocation bill was put to a vote in the Underhusen, and passed with 4 ayes and 3 abstains. On the 20th of April, the revocation bill was presented to the Overhusen, and passed with unanimous support. With the approval of both the lower and upper legislative chamber, Govindia’s citizenship was officially revoked under Article 2.4 of the Citizenship and Demonym Act.   It should be noted that as members of a region founded on the principles of liberty, equality, freedom and compassion, the Storting recognises the revocation of citizenship as a solemn issue, and has pursued all other avenues of action. While Govindia’s less than desirable behaviour may have been unintentional, many members of the community have stepped in or at least tried to ameliorate the situation. After giving numerous second chances, it is certainly regrettable to declare that little to no visible changes have been observed, and that a citizenship revocation has been deemed to be necessary. In the words of the Overhusen Chairman Wuufu, "This is not a removal from this community in full, and shouldn't be seen as such, but instead it should give you (Govindia) the motivation to effect change."   Storting Passes Five-Post Citizenship Requirement
Written by Wintermoot   The Citizenship Integration Amendment Act will alter the path to Citizenship.

The Storting recently passed a requirement that prospective Citizens have five posts on the regional off-site forum, including their Citizenship application, before becoming a Citizen.   The requirement was originally suggested by Wintermoot, who pointed out that nearly a third of all former Citizens had only made one post: their Citizenship application. The requirement was suggested to encourage prospective Citizens to interact with the community and get involved in the region before becoming deciding to become a Citizen, pointing out that as a region whose cultural and discussion areas are open to anyone with an account, Wintreath was better suited for this sort of requirement than many others.   On the other hand, the proposal was opposed by several Citizens, including HannahB and Chanku, who expressed concerns that the requirement could intimidate prospective Citizens who would otherwise have become involved in the community anyway. Both stated that had there been a similar requirement when they had joined, they would have been more hesitant to join to begin with.   Ultimately, after several weeks of discussion, the proposal passed the Underhusen 6-1 and then passed the Overhusen 3-1 (with one Peer not voting). During the course of the discussion, several other measures were taken to streamline the Citizenship process, including allowing the entire Cabinet to process Citizenship applications in order to allow for quicker approvals, simplifying the Citizenship form, and overhauling the regional forums to be easier to understand by new members.   Updates in Wintrean Government
    Written by Wintermoot   Ch-ch-changes...

The Storting | Elections for the lower chamber of the legislature, the Underhusen, were held during the first week of June...issues that arose for the election was the relative inactivity of the Underhusen in the previous term and the on-going Constitutional Convention for reforming the legislature which has dragged on since November. Several candidates ran non-serious campaigns, such as Crushita/Eldarion's campaign to "have Patatoism declared the official religion of Wintreath". At the conclusion of the elections, which included a three-way runoff vote, Barnes, Reux, Laurentus, tatte, and BraveSirRobin won election, defeating Chanku, xXHydraXx, and Crushita. At the same time, the Monarch saw fit to make a change the upper chamber of the legislature, the Overhusen, replacing Colberius X, who had fallen inactive, with Aragonn.   The full election announcement can be read here.   The Monarchy | The Monarchy has also made a number of changes in the Riksråd (Cabinet) and subordinate guilds, based on the Monarch's Spring State of the Region Address pledge to create a more active and contributing Cabinet.   On June 9th, the Monarch formally removed long-time Jarl of Integration Point Breeze, who had been inactive for several months. On July 5th, Point Breeze was also removed from the post of Thane of World Assembly Affairs, after his Citizenship nation ceased to exist and he could no longer serve as Vice-Delegate. Both offices remain vacant at this time, and a search is underway for someone to fill those positions, as well as the positions of guildmasters for the recruitment and mentoring guilds, which are part of the Ministry of Integration. You can read the full announcement here.   Then on July 3rd, the Monarch announced the appointment of Emoticonius as Thane of Foreign Affairs, with the responsibility for ensuring that our embassies remained active and for assisting in the creation of unique initiatives to make our embassies stand out. As you may know, Emoticionius, also known as The Church of Satan, is the person responsible behind the puzzles that have been posted in our embassies, which have proven very successful in many regions.    The Monarch also announced the Ministry of Culture's appointment of Aragonn as Guildmaster of the Roleplayers Guild, by far Wintreath's most successful and active guild. As Guildmaster, Aragonn will work to maintain and expand our roleplays, as well as take part in discussions related to roleplaying in the region. Aragonn has been involved in the guild since its creation in November 2015, and has also been involved in roleplaying in the region of New Hyperion as its Lord of Culture. You can read the full announcements here.   While there has been a noted decline in activity throughout the region and NationStates, with these changes the government of Wintreath is set to weather the storm.   Cipher Pol Ice
Written by Emoticonius   The North Pacific working around the clock to crack the Wintreath embassy code

May 29, 2016 | Regions across NationStates discover an encrypted message within Wintreath embassies. Some Wintreath embassies are met with replies of "What?!" and "This is not clear communication." Others however decoded the message which revealed a new initiative from Wintreath. The initiative itself was conceived and proposed by Wintreath citizen Emoticonius, better known as The Church of Satan and each encryption personally assembled by him. In order to give Wintreath embassies more purpose and (inadvertently) more activity, these same embassies will be receiving monthly encryptions, puzzles if you will. This was met largely with intrigue and enthusiasm although it was also met with bewilderment and confusion in others.   June 1, 2016 | The next monthly puzzle is sent out. Drastically difficult compared to the introductory encryption, regions began working towards cracking the code and reaching the end. Several aneurysms later, New Hyperion became the first region to crack the codes and reach the end. The North Pacific and Renegade Islands Alliance would soon follow, however no other region has managed to do the same as of yet.   Here we are in July now. Last month's puzzle was only solved by a few regions. Congratulations New Hyperion (honorable mentions: taulover), Renegade Islands Alliance (honorable mentions: Tangaroa) and The North Pacific (honorable mentions: Praetor). Below is a step-by-step walkthrough of last month's puzzle, for those that would rather just see the answers:
Keep an eye out for July's puzzle! It's late but it will be released and will not disappoint.   IRC Quote of the Season

I did phone support at Microsoft for about six months in '95.  I was the "Grammar Guru" (each function specialist was a 'guru') for Word 95, wrote some of the macros it used, some knowledge base articles, etc.  They laid us off when they outsourced it all.  Which really sucked, as they had promised a raise and stock options at six months, so naturally the layoff was a couple weeks before that (there was a later class action lawsuit about it, didn't do me any good).  I then applied for a position in the Microsoft lab, and they told me I was overqualified and should be in management.      That was as annoying as another company that called me in for an interview around the same time, and as soon as I sat down with the interviewer he started out with, 'let me just say first that you're overqualified'....like, why then did you waste my time!?  He did give me a tour of the company at least.

Heh, we were at an 'off campus' site for Microsoft, so we didn't get to be part of the big Windows 95 launch with Bill Gates.  Instead, we had Steve Ballmer and had to download and install a 'Ballmer' theme for our desktop.  Complete with icons that were pictures of Ballmer's kids. *shakes head sadly*  I might still have the tshirt and pin they gave us.

Even back then I was the 'old guy' in the support group.  They put the lone female in the corner next to me to keep the younger guys from bothering her.  She had a plush doll of The Tick on her desk with a pull string, so periodically through the day you'd hear "Spoon!"  That was better that the guy across from me, he talked so loud.  Meanwhile there was a guy one more cubicle down that you'd see his head bobbing up and down as he'd hop on one leg while he was talking on the phone (he was missing the other one). He and I wrote some of the macros together.

The beta manuals for Windows 95 were huge.  Five volumes, I don't remember how many pages each.  Maybe three inches thick each.

And yeah, Microsoft Bob came out then too.  We were scratching our heads about that one as much as everyone else.

    Bug bashes were always fun.

*nods* I took a couple meteorology classes, that's all that was available at the time where I was.  That's kind of the progression of the disciplines:  Geography to Climatology to Meteorology to Physics (or vice-versa).  My graduate climatology prof put it this way:  'In meteorology, you have to know the physics and the equations.  In climatology, you only need to know that the equations exist and how they apply."  The Physics department was across the hall from the Geography department at grad school.

Down here, Meteorology and Physics are both majors hosted by the School of Physics from the Faculty of Science (it works like that here, the University is divided into Faculties, each faculty has 1 or more schools, each schools hosts the careers or majors, and classes for other careers that need them).
If you are doing physics, you have to take 6 optional classes from a list of like 20 available, and if you select carefully those 6, you end up 1 class away from a major in Meteorology (and the same applies for the meteorologists). So is funny, they call it the 2x1 career combo. Not that you would get a job here thanks to those 2 particularly unemployed careers, but hey, you know, teaching physics at high school pays apparently (that't what about 70% of my class mates are doing now). I never graduated anyway, decided that having a family and a good paid job was better for me.
I started doing call center stuff at 18, first working as Customer Service for BetOnSports.com Have you guys heard about all the phone gambling business that was done abroad by Americans and how it took years for the IRS to pursue them? Well, about half of them had their Customer Service here and it gave employment to THOUSAND of young university guys who spoke good english and knew how to use a computer here.
I worked on BetOnSports for about 1 year, then another year in a different sportsbook, and then another. Attrition is high, but they used to pay well. When I was 21 I stopped working in those places and moved to work full time at my university as a professor's assistance and later on as teaching assistance, where I actually teach university level classes (mainly General Physics Lab 1, 2 and 3) for engineering and science students. Enjoyed it, I was very good to the point where I actually was assigned more groups than actually graduated guys. It helped the university: I was reliable, trustworthy and less expensive (I was paid as an undergrad assistant, not as a half time professor). I eventually made it to Coordinator Assistant for labs 1 and 3. By then I was 23/24 and was sharing my time between those clases; an assistance post at the Plasma Research Lab at the Nuclear, Molecular and Atomic Interactions Research Center; my Peruvian girlfriend; my elected position as General Accountant to the Student's Federation of my University; and a shit-load of drinking... So I was tired, exhausted, and decided to make a change after my GF dumped me: quit the Student's Fed, quit the university classes but 2, quit the research center, and find a night shift job as Customer Support for a website that still operates today: https://www.bingohall.ag/(formerly .com), more online gambling. Within 6 months I was Accounting Support; 6 months later, Payout Lead and 6 months more and I was accounting department manager, with 4 accountants under my supervision... they didn't liked being managed by an undergraduated physics student. I left that place in 2010 and moved to HP, where I did 3 years of HP Proliant Servers Support (running MS and Linux and ESX/ESXi) and then moved to my current post as SAP Enablement and Data Manager...
    EDIT:
I'm not sure why I wrote all that but it seemed relevant. I'm only 32 but it seems I've lived a liftime already, can only admire the experience of some people here. I'm happy about it.

    greetings,

if you are reading this then that means your region has an embassy with wintreath and you have decoded our message. we are trying something new in order to give our embassies more purpose.

to that end, we have sent you a coded message to explain this new initiative. we are hoping you will enjoy this as we challenge your minds and stimulate your thoughts. this first one is kind of a freeby, something not quite so complex. however once every month we will be posting another puzzle for you. the methods used will not always be the same as what you see before you. more than that, they will also be more complex or containing multiple steps. we did not wish to overwhelm or discourage anyone from participating in this by making it extremely difficult before you have become accustomed to what will be ahead. this message may simply be coded, but as the months go on there will be more than just coded text and you will have to think harder, be more creative and possibly push past your preconceived notions of what you are capable of. do have fun and work together as a region in order to move forward!

*nods*  Yeah, I played my part of it.

I was solidly in favor of their application to join ADN.  I don't remember what my position in ADN was at the time besides Representative of Equilism.  I served in most capacities at one time or another.  I exchanged pm's with Mammothstan over it.  However, politics being what they are, I had to watch what I said in what venue.

My dilemma was that I was serving in an official capacity as Equilism representative to the ADN Council.  And the Equilism Senate had voted to oppose the application.  So I had to argue against their application in Council, while trying to do what I could, quietly, to support it outside of Council, outside of embassies.

I'd also served as a Provincial Defense Minister in The Pacific. What was it...oh....Croyance Province.  A certain other former TWP Delegate signed up in the military sign up thread I'd started then.  I was also in The Pacific Underground before that. (Much later, and unrelated, I was in a Francoist raider region.  I had to see what that was about.)

There were indeed some very ruffled feathers on both sides, ADN and NPO.  One of the most divisive things in NS was NPO/ADN.  That and Invading/Defender (we called in invading, they preferred 'raiding').  And then the types of defending had their divisions...is it okay to retaliate against an invaders home region, or isn't that just being like them ? Is it okay to prioritize defending missions by political ideology, or should ideology never be a factor in defending ?  Should there be open communications with invaders, or should each and every one be ban-on-sight? It was a much more black and white NS world, and passions were often easily stirred. Especially when ADN was trying to create 'defender unity' and get all those different positions to work together. (The ideology thing failed as RLA withdrew from ADN.  The retaliation thing failed, as TITO wouldn't join ADN - they want the right to retaliate. Still a sixty region alliance is nothing to sneeze at.)

I think it was the NPO that gracefully withdrew it's application eventually.  I was rather dissapointed.

*Remembers working with Ananke way back when in '04/'05  When UPS Rail and then Great Bight took the TNP Delegacy and threw out the government Ananke had been TNP Defense Minister, and were allied to Equilism by three separate treaties.  Equilism gave her full E-Army HQ access as planning for liberation began.*

*Remembers a telegram exchange with Great Bight, who said he'd once held a feeder with only 17 endorsements*

TWP, TNP, TRR, Nasicournia, Equililsm.....this was generally the core of ADN, not to disparage or ignore the contributions of many others.  TNP was a strong leg of ADN that was weakend by Delegacy instability and finally by Delegate's choice to withdraw from the organization.  Some in the government protested, and some players quit the game.  The Delegate's nation was passed around a bit, and eventually a new constitutional convention was held, and the sides within the region tried to merge back into a single community.  TWP also eventually withdrew from ADN.  It was, though, an ADN that was growing inactive in lost relevance.  And TWP was struggling, frankly with boredom. There was alot of that feeling in the r/d game after Influence entered the game. For a time, it was TWP Minister of State Security Biyah and myself that were running ADN Intel.  For awhile it was Blackbird and I.  And before that, it was Equility and I.

With Equilism also having withdrawn after having it's Charter proposal for a new ADN rejected (and after The Schism), and with Nasicournia a dead region, ADN was running on fumes, and the main defender activity was moving to FRA.

*For reference:  ADN=Alliance Defense Network, originally created in 2003 in direct opposition to the Atlantic Alliance.  ADN debated a Constitution, which was ratified on Februrary 29, 2004.  The Atlantic Alliance announced they were dissolved on February 29, 2004.  Westwind joined ADN, February 29, 2004.  Coincidence? Some things may never be known.

*FRA = Founderless Regions Alliance, founded by three members including a former Equilism and TWP Defense Minister.

One could say Westwind brought an end to Constitutional ADN by:

     - Negotiating peace treaties, along with EuroSoviets, to end the ADN/Ireland (and The German Empire and DEN) war.  The Peace Treaty was Constitutional, yet Director Pope Hope tried to oppose it and stop it after presented. Too late.
    - Brought impeachment articles to the ADN Senate against ADN President Vasquez for leading an invasion of Ireland after the signing of the Peace Treaty, and planning it on ADN's forums. Leading to the President's resignation.
    - Through the Vice Presidential election to Democratic Donkeys, who soon revealed he was an invader spy.
    - Blocking legislative proposals in the ADN Congress.
    - Recommending Pope Hope declare martial law, which she did.
    - Appointed moderator of new ADN Reloaded, then Admin, and was first elected Assistant Director. Finally becoming Acting Director.

One could say all that, but it'd be re-writing history, wouldn't it ?  Wouldn't it ?!

Constitutional ADN was an extra-regional government.  Meaning that member regions were subject to the laws of ADN.  And when ADN declared war, all member regions had to declare war.  It had three branches of government, and a bicameral legislative branch.  A Co-executive President/Director.  A Chief Justice and a Prosecutor General.  Two former ADN Prosecutor Generals are currently active on this forum There was one peice of legislation in ADN in particular, and I can't recall what it was, but it was pushing on regional sovereignty enough to have some people starting to push back a bit.  And some organizations wouldn't join in order to preserve their sovereignty. TITO/EAA/RLA/A.L.L./GLA...
