Fujai
I like architecture, specifically that of government buildings, since they are very representative of their respective regions. So I was wondering, what is your favorite and least favorite US State capitol building, in terms of both placement and design? My favorite is and always will be my home state of Wisconsin, although I'm just a bit biased. It's got a beautiful exterior, and is the only state capitol with four wings (governor, assembly, senate, supreme court). It's placement in Madison is also impeccable. It sits on a rise in the middle of the isthmus, with streets radiating from it so you get amazing views of the building. Also, the City of Madison has a law that a building cannot be taller than the base of the dome, so you can see it from the interstate 6.5 miles away. \ Also, the interior looks amazing. It's built with over 40 different stones, particularly granite from Wisconsin. My least favorite is Louisiana. I just don't think a state capitol should look like some oil baron's headquarters. Big Bad Badger
Being a Wisconsin native I have to agree. My adopted state, Texas, has a really neat capitol too. The worst is definitely Bismark! No question!
Fujai
Bismark at least looks okay with its stone choice, but Louisiana's is just an eyesore to me.
Zogradia
Well, this isn't really IRL, but this is the Zogradi Capitol (in the background) with a blue whale statue in front of it. NOTE: This was taken a while ago, there is now a huge building behind the whale, which also serves governmental functions. (It's basically the sub-capitol)
Bhang Bhang Duc
The interior of the dome in Wisconsin's Capitol reminds me of the Pantheon in Rome. Louisiana's building looks like a war memorial, and a bad one at that. Zogradia
Drachmaland
Louisiana's building looks like a war memorial, and a bad one at that. Obviously it commemorates their victory in the war against good taste. Fujai, Consular, Bhang Bhang Duc and 2 others

Winnipeg
I had a similar thought about Louisiana's, made me think of the Moscow State University. I find I quite love the look of the British Columbia Legislature Building in Victoria, BC.

I went to Victoria on vacation once, and it was one of the most beautiful cities I've been to. The lights they have at night are amazing. Westwind
I always wanted to visit Victoria. It seems stupid that I lived near Seattle for ten years and never took the Victoria Clipper up there. The Montana State Capital is on the other side of town from me. The dome is pretty cool on the inside. I used to work on some machines once in awhile in the capital printshop, legislative services, secretary of states' office, etc.

Zogradia
One of my favorites, of course, is Colorado's capitol. I went there a few times when I visited Denver back in July. https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRNMR4rorc93jIaYE7Y9OT85-uh4g2zX_oNp6KDpbBWDTgMNjzF
Winnipeg
University of Idaho? Think idaho State isn't in Moscow though. No, the Moscow State University, in Moscow, Russia. Built by Stalin's slave parties I'm sure. So Communist meh.

Why would you want a university that looks like a casino? I much prefer the more regal looking universities.
Nox
I think the Mass State House is pretty good looking. In the same breath, though, Boston's City Hall is absolutely atrocious, outside and in. The walls inside some of the hallways are painted this sickening shade of green that would be better suited in my grandmother's farm house than a place of city government. I know it's not a state capitol, but I feel it still deserves mention.
Winnipeg
Didn't say I'd want a University to look like that. Just said the Louisiana State House made me think of it...OP listed it. Also, I think the question really should be why you would want a Casino that looks like a Communist State University from the 1930's.
