SPINN Reboot...Successful

On November 30, 2012 then Delegate Hileville appointed former Delegate Southern Bellz to the position of Editor-in-Chief of the South Pacific Independent News Network. Hileville believed Southern Bellz would be the nation to lead SPINN into the future and complete a successful reboot of the news organization. Southern Bellz didn't waste any time as she got to work assembling her staff.

Hileville, was appointed News Editor and leads the Breaking News Division. Belschaft and Hernolord were hired on as Staff Writers to work on the Monthly Feature section of SPINN. Alv and Drugged Monkeys were hired on as News Reporters. SPINN began with coverage of TSP's elections in December and an interview article conducted by Drugged Monkeys with True North. The region looks forward to continued development from the SPINN staff. Make sure to stop by the forums and Check Out SPINN TODAY!

TSP Elects New Cabinet

Lady Rebels, the EC Chair, has been dealing with RL issues, and hasn't graced TSP for a while. With this, elections started a bit late, as LR usually jumps at starting the election process. AMOM ran ran the elections quite smoothly while down to two Election Commissioners. But despite starting a little late, and being short an EC, the election process was as good as ever. By the start of campaigning, it was Antariel versus Bel for the third straight election; but this time, for Minister of Security. The seat for Minister of Regional Affairs was well sought after with Drugged Monkeys, HEM, and Loh all campaigning. Hileville and Unibot both ran unopposed for Foreign Affairs and Chair of the Assembly, respectively, while no one accepted their nomination for Minister of Justice, leaving it vacant. The title of TSP's Craziest was also up for grabs, with God-Emperor, Milograd, and Rebel-topia all looking to hold this honored title.

Much debate took place between Bel and Ant, as everyone well expected. Bel, looking to return to the post for the first time since its creation, outlined his plan to overhaul the SPA; to both build her numbers and to rework the way in which the SPA opperates. Antariel proposed running the SPA mostly as is; making his main point to be activity. The race for MoRA, saw all three candidates running with fairly identical platforms; a welcoming program, and internal activity. Despite their different ways of achieving this, all three agreed, if not elected, to help achieve their goals. Hileville talked about his plan for strengthening TSPs relationships, especially with other GCRs. The Drama Llama reared its ugly head in the unopposed campaign for Unibot for Chair. Not much about current affairs within TSP were discussed. Unibots campaign thread saw mostly questions about his involvement as leader of the UDL and his resignation as MoJ and quick departure from TSP. Before the end of the campaigning, Unibot resigned candidacy for the position, leaving it vacant for the elections.

Here is how the elections ended:

Chair: Vacant

MoS: Belschaft

MoFA: Hileville

MoRA: HEM

MoJ: Vacant

New Delegate Elected

After nominations were closed and campaigning began, only two nations showed interest in the Delegacy. Milograd, a constant to have his name in the running for delegate, went up against The Third Imperium (God-Emperor), a nation with deep TSP roots, only recently coming back to the government side of TSP. It was a hotly contested campaign, as both looked to win endos from both those on the forums and those in the region. Near the end of elections, drama graced this election, as "The Zeroth Imperium", was banned from the region for campaigning for GE. They claimed the nation had been given to them by GE for the purpose of helping him secure endorsements, but said they were "stabbed in the back" by him, as Hileville had asked GE if these claims were true, and he said they were not. Those claims can be found on the NationStates forum - http://forum.nationstates.net/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=214683

Special Elections Held by Delegate, Milograd

After Milograd won the election for Delegate he immediately opened special elections to determine who would hold the two vacant positions being Chair of the Assembly and Minister of Justice. Antariel and God-Emperor ran for Chair and Durgged Monkeys ran for Minister of Justice, a position he held previously. Antariel beat GE and will return to the TSP Cabinet for the first time in a little of a year when he was banned due admitting he was Black Pineapple. Antariel has been an excellent citizen and has done great work with the South Pacific Army since and had his suspension from Cabinet vacated due to legal issues earlier in the year. Drugged Monkeys was confirmed to the position of Minister of Justice. DM came to TSP after successful Warzone operations and joined the SPA. He later was elected to Cabinet and served one term as Minister of Justice. We look forward to the work both will do for the region in their respected Offices.

TSP - Osiris - TNP Joint Christmas Event

TSP recently participated in a joint Christmas Event with TNP and Osiris hosted on the TNP forums. The event was successful and was another step in bringing the three regions closer together. The event is the first of many to be hosted with the three regions and we look forward to the next one.

TSP Aids Osiris Delegate Mad Jack

The South Pacific Army assisted in restoring Mad Jack to the Delegate seat after being the victim of a Coup. The Cabinet issued the following statement on the situation in Osiris:

[spoiler=Cabinet Statement on Coup of Osiris]

tsp_logo.png

[big]Statement from the Cabinet of the South Pacific

in regards to the Coup of Osiris[/big]

Having observed the shocking actions of senior members of the Government of Osiris, and their blatant disregard both for the laws of the region and their fellow citizens, The Coaliton of The South Pacific utterly and unequivocally condemns those responsible. The security and integrity of any region must be held sacrosanct, and the fact that those responsible had sworn to uphold both makes their betrayal even more complete.

The Coalition of The South Pacific considers Osiris to be a firm friend and a close ally. We stand behind the legitimate government of the region utterly, and have offered the full support both our own region and of the South Pacific Army to the region’s legitimate delegate, Madjack. We look forward to the imminent restoration of the legitimate government and delegate of the region, and will do everything in our power to assist with such.

We remember, both individually and as a region, when we ourselves were couped a year and a half ago. We were overwhelmed by the unambiguous support we received from the wider international community, and would be remiss if we offered anything less to Osiris. This event must be even more traumatic for the community of Osiris, having been committed by trusted members of the community rather than hostile outside forces. The South Pacific will stand by our friends and allies, wherever they may be, now and for ever.

Ultimately, the Coalition of the South Pacific firmly condemns the deplorable and destructive actions of the traitors in the Osirian government and will support the government and citizens of Osiris in these troubling times to the best of its ability.

Signed,

The Cabinet of the South Pacific

Governments of TSP and TRR Announce Intent to Strengthen Relations

The South Pacific and the Rejected Realms met to discuss relations after sharing a somewhat icy relationship ever since the summer of 2011. A statement was issued in regards to relations between the two regions.

[align=center]

[/align]

[align=center]
A Statement from

the South Pacific and the Rejected Realms

Regarding our Regions’ Relationship and its Future
[/align]

The Governments of the South Pacific and the Rejected Realms,

Realizing that the state of relations between both regions have not been the most desirable,

Reiterate that, despite this, they are
not
in a state of war or hostile towards each other,

Note that the Rejected Realms Army and the South Pacific Army have never declared war, or acted with any hostile intent against each other at any point, even during the most trying times of their relationship,

Acknowledge the troubles of the past and, determined to move past them, promise to work together for a brighter future on this day forward.

Signed,

Milograd, Chairman of the South Pacific [2/2/13]

Whamabama, Delegate of The Rejected Realms [2/2/13]

Frattastan, Rejected Realms Army Commander [2/2/13]

Hileville, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the South Pacific [2/2/13]

The statement is the first step in building stronger relations between our regions.

A New Embassy Thread

Milograd, after receiving the blessings of Topid and MoFA Hileville, created a fancy new embassy thread for the South Pacific
. Topid ran the original on-site embassy thread but it hadn't been used since January of 2012, so a new and fresher thread was desired by the members of the region. It features an introduction by Milograd, a brief overview and explanation of the commune's government's components, an index of historical updates, and instructions for seeking military assistance and/or an embassy with the South Pacific.

Fight Against Flagspam

Late last month and in the beginning of this month, RMB recruiters utilized the "nation=noname" BBCode tool on the South Pacific's RMB to create images of their regions' flags and/or historical figures that they identify with. The garish ad-spam, which Milograd later started calling "flagspam," was quickly suppressed, but it scarred enough of the region's members' eyes to prompt Milograd to make a
.
As of January 26th, 2013, any regional adverts that use the "[nation=noname]" BBCode (hereafter referred to as "flagspam") to create an image or spell a message out on the South Pacific's regional message board will be suppressed regardless of who posts it. Nations that post these messages will be ejected and banned from the region. In the past, I have only ejected and banned nations whom are from enemy regions or go to ridiculous lengths to bother us, but this type of recruitment is extremely irritating and garish.

Furthermore, any region that flagspams on our RMB will have any and all of their future adverts suppressed regardless of whether or not they use the aforementioned BBCode in those messages. This policy may be changed or abolished depending on the site administration's response to the concerns that I recently raised in Technical, but it will be fully enforced until then.

I encourage regions that wish to recruit on our RMB to be mindful of garishness when posting their adverts.

  • Signed,

  • Milograd

  • WA Delegate of the South Pacific

Members of the feeder and sinker regions including Milograd, TAO, Westwind, Todd McCloud, Mad Jack, Charles Cerebella, Frattastan, Jamie Anumia, protested the allowance of this recruitment tactic to the site's administration. Fortunately, NS Administrator [violet] was generous enough to remove it from the game after saying, "If someone's using images in a distracting way to insert themselves into that conversation, lots of people are inconvenienced, and there's no easy way to work around it."

TSP Participates in GCR Anti-Nazi Summit

The South Pacific is attending the ongoing summit hosted by the Pacific in regards to the ever growing disgusting ideology of Nazism in NationStates: Milograd and Hileville are serving as representatives for the region at the summit. The South Pacific previously had declared war on the Greater German Reich and the greater spread of the Nazi ideology. Discussions that have been taking place include a joint statement between the GCR's denouncing Nazism and potential world assembly resolutions.

Potential Forum Merge for TSP

After nearly a month of discussion, the motion to merge the old South Pacifician boards and the new South Pacifician boards has received consensus approval from the region. The new boards were originally created when the old forum's server went offline and was inaccessible for nearly a week. A conversion to zetaboards was being discussed at the time, but the new forums were already active and in full use by the time that the old ones were restored. The old board was eventually converted to zetaboards but it was made into a read-only archive. The forums will be merged onto an IPS board.

The original South Pacific off-site forums were created in 2003, and the "new" boards were created in March of 2012: Tsunamy was the root administrator of the former, and Southern bellz has worked hard as the root administration of the latter. The merge is expected to occur sometime within the next week.

Yet Another Great People's Revolutionary Film!

hx6718V.png
The South Pacific Socialist Republic
Update #1

"Three Cheers For The People's Vision!"

0. Some Kulaks Have Died

Some kulaks have died. We needed to increase iron production.

This is regrettable but it couldn't be avoided.

1. People's Constitution Complete, Forum Released, People Joyful!

The South Pacific Socialist Republic has unveiled its new constitution and revolutionary forum.

The forum has already accumulated nearly five hundred posts.

2. Ancient Defects From Illegitimate Counterrevolutionary Regime; Others Expected to Follow

Long-time TSP resident and former delegate "The Shaft" has defected from the counterrevolutionary illegitimate "Coalition of the South Pacific" to the true government of the region, the South Pacific Socialist Republic. He said, "I got so bored with it all before the region was dieing we couldn't even get anyone to run for office half the time. It is good to see the region starting to have life again."

When introducing himself on the new forum, he took the time to note, "BTW I was a distinct part of the old regime and I have taken a new name to play a new game. I was formerly The Shaft. I left because there was no interest in the region." The Shaft joined TSP nearly a decade ago. "I watched this region become apathetic and no one cared anymore. There is a new life in this region being led by Comrade Milograd. There is a new life now that is blossoming and will grow and become stronger and stronger with each passing day. The old life like the old plant has passed away and will be no more."

We are pleased to have the Shaft on board with us and look forward to working with him. He brings a lot to the table and we hope to improve our region alongside him.

Of course, foreign imperialists like TITO and the UDL will do all that they can to interfere in what has clearly become an internal matter. Even though long-time residents of the region such as Shaft and Fudgetopia have expressed their interest in reconsidering the future, UDL foreign legions have shown up on our doorstep multiple times throughout the week. And this brings us to our next announcement!

3. A Week of War is Survived

It has been a rough battle, but nonetheless the people's revolution is still alive after one week of warfare. The UDL and its allied forces made several attempts at invading the South Pacific this week, but the two most notable attempts came on Saturday major and the following Friday major. On the first, the invader troops were swiftly banjected, and the invaders completely missed their update time during tonight's attempt.

Funnily enough, some of the would-be invader counterrevolutionaries assumed that Milograd was using a script to banject their pitiful attempts at liberating the region. "He is deffo using a script," PlunkettsParadise exclaimed in a "super secure" New Southern Army operations channel.

4. Harmonious Truths and SPSNS Launch for Culture

Comrade Ofly's "Harmonious Truths: Glorious Tales from the SP Revolution" have become a popular hit since the People's Uprising began on 4/20, and the thread has picked up nearly five thousand views. It is an entertaining read and satire with thirteen editions (as of now) and we encourage others to check it out.

The South Pacific State News Service was also launched by Comrade Erusea earlier this week, and it currently has two editions: one is a news piece, and the other is a tabloid. Discussion about the people's revolution's roots and the earlier invasion attempts are covered by the SPSNS, and we anticipate that we will be churning out more articles in the immediate future.

5. Milograd Reportedly an Insomniac

Milograd has become an imsonmiac thanks to Cerian Quilor's counterrevolutionary exploits.

Super Secure Channel (Again): UDL Security at its Finest!

[01:12] <CerianQuilor> Ideally
[01:12] <CerianQuilor> he misses an update
[01:12] <CerianQuilor> anyone know where he lives? Maybe we can screw with his sleep pattern sm_tongue.gif
[01:12] <CerianQuilor> play really loud music at him while he tries to block us sm_tongue.gif

He didn't realize it at the time, but Cerian's attempts at violating the sovereignty of the South Pacific andMilograd's naps have been noticed. Unfortunately for him, Milograd has no plans on missing any updates.

6. People's Liaison Elections Begin

People's Liaison elections are heating up in the South Pacific Socialist Republic. Hobbeebia, and Por Larranaga are currently running against each other for the position, but Proletariat Revolution, Ofly, Minnows, and Erusea have also been nominated. Eruse and Proletariat Revolution have rejected their nominations, for they wish to serve elsewhere during the Great Leap Forward.

The nomination period lasts two days and the voting period also lasts for two days.

Milograd said, "In the old government, the forum assembly would tell the in-game population what to do. In our new government, the in-game population's wishes will be conveyed to the People's Liaison who will share their desires with the forum government, who shall then follow through on what they want. This is part of the glory of the new system."

7.

There is no 7, but feel free to have a sneak peak at Biyah's classified intelligence files anyway.

8. Counterrevolutionary Counter: Tallying Up the Great Purges

Approximately 2,000 counterrevolutionaries have been purged since the Great Leap Forward's inception.

We regret that purges had to occur and will continue to occur until the motherland is free of filth, but it was absolutely necessary given the presence of reactionary sleeper agents within the South Pacific's glorious territories. We truly hope that the UDL and company will cease sending subversive agents into the region.

9. Conclusion

It's been a crazy week for the South Pacific, but we hope that everyone is, to some degree or another, entertained, and we hope that we'll still be here next week! We will regularly distribute these updates in the mean time.

If that's how you feel... I oppose WECA in TWP and nations shamelessly stealing power with no penalties. This is not what I see happening in TSP. Milo did not steal power, he was elected in both by the offsite forum and by the electorate in the region, WA nations. He is now, I believe, working for a greater TSP with the people of the region; it is a new start for TSP, a new start that has brought an enormous amount of activity to TSP.

I think it's got to the stage now where we might have to accept Milo as Delegate.

Statement from the Cabinet of The Coalition of The South Pacific

in regards to the end of the Milograd Coup and victory on the home front

As of minor update today The South Pacific is once again free from foreign occupation and oppression, and NationState's oldest and most resilient democratic government has been restored. This victory could not have been achieved without the efforts of dozens, if not hundreds, of people all of whom have played their own parts, big or small. Whilst you will all be hearing more from us over the next few days, we would like to take a moment to thank some of you in particular.

Firstly, our allies; The North Pacific, Osiris, Europeia, The New Inquisition, Balder, Lazarus - your assistance will not be forgotten soon. Without your aid and diplomatic support we would still be under foreign occupation. The South Pacific has always been loyal to those who show us friendship, and you can count on our support should you ever find yourselves in need.

Secondly, those friends of ours abroad who, though not bound by treaty, still came to our aid; The East Pacific, The Rejected Realms, The United Defenders League, Ten Thousand Islands, Land of Kings and Empires, Equilism, The Commonwealth of Crowns, Spiritus, The Founderless Regions Alliance, Ainur, Kennan, Kantrias, Canada... the list goes on and on. Thank you, you have all proved to be good and true to your word. Know that we are in your debt.

Thirdly, the dozens of individual players who offered their support and assistance. You were the margin of the victory. Without your selfless contribution we would still be under occupation, still suffering daily purges of the native community. There is no complete list of everyone who came to our aid - many did so on their own initiative - but you all have our thanks.

Fourthly, there are a few names in particular we have to mention; Biyah, Astarial, Eluvatar, Mahaj, McMasterdonia - the Southern Allied Command would not have achieved half as much in twice as long without you all. Fudgie, who volunteered to play the traitor. Your sacrifice was the greatest, to be defamed by those who should have been saluting you. A debt of honor is owed to all of you.

Finally, the The South Pacific's native community. Even as hundreds of us were being ejected from our home by one who betrayed our trust, and foreign colonists were poring in by the hundred, you never gave in. You kept fighting. You kept everyone's spirits alive. We salute you.

We will have a more detailed update out later, going over our plans for the coming weeks as we rebuild what has been destroyed. For now, we leave you all with our gracious thanks, and a promise;

The South will rise again.

Statement from the Cabinet of The South Pacific

in regards to Relations with The West Pacific

It is common knowledge that the relationship between The South Pacific and The West Pacific have been far form exemplary during the past few years.  It is also publicly known that the South Pacific has attempted to repair relationships several times over that period, having instigated on multiple occasions peace talks in 2011 to end the war The West Pacific started and pursued against us. It has however became clear to us that despite our best efforts, and private and public assurances to the contrary from The West Pacific, no real progress has been made since 2011. At the first opportunity when The South Pacific appeared vulnerable the real opinions and beliefs of The West Pacific became clear.

As many of you will know, Milograd, The South Pacific's Delegate, went rogue in April 2013, and for a period of eleven days conducted mass purges of TSP natives, unilaterally declared all laws void, and began a process of importing masses of UCR nations to replace the GCR community he was attempting to destroy

During the coup The West Pacific's government actively and directly supported Milograd and his 'South Pacific Social Republic', despite transparent attempts to claim neutrality. Their statement in our embassy chose to recognize Milograd's regime and actions as legitimate. The West Pacific described the coup as an "internal matter", while at the same time numerous prominent members of their government moved into The South Pacific to endorse Milograd and support his rule. While we understand that some may wish to abandon GCR independence  and instead hand over control of a Pacific Region to UCR's - The NationStates Republic comes to mind - The West Pacific should have been well aware that the native community The South Pacific would not consider the mass importation of foreign WA's to prop up a tyrant delegate an "internal matter".

The blatantly hostile activities of The West Pacific will not be tolerated by The South Pacific. The actions of The West Pacific during Milograd's coup are not compatible with friendly relations, and nor are the continued hostility of The West Pacific towards our legitimate Government and the independence of our great region. Therefore the Cabinet unanimously orders the closure of the in-game and forum Embassies of The West Pacific. Furthermore, the Cabinet gives all agents and nations of The West Pacific, in particular those of TAO and Darkesia, twenty-four hours to depart from the region. The presence of hostile agents of a hostile government will not be tolerated in The South Pacific. Your continued and seditious attempts to undermine the region, and active efforts in spreading falsehoods regarding The Coalition, have not gone unnoticed.

The Cabinet of The South Pacific
