  1. Thanks for the feedback so far, guys. And, yes, this is still leaving the decision to legal (or outlaw) euthanasia up to the individual nation, but if euthanasia is going to be legal, I'd like to have some standards in place - which is where this concept came from. I probably won't have time to edit the draft fully until this weekend sometime, but I'll definitely keep your comments in mind. Thanks again!
  2. Hey all! As you might know (if you stalk the GA proposal queue), there's a repeal At Quorum to get rid of Dignified End of Life Choices. I'm hopeful that the repeal will be successful, and I've decided to stretch my proposal writing muscles and draft a replacement. I'm taking a fairly NatSov approach, I'll admit - allowing nations to determine whether or not they will allow euthanasia but setting requirements for those that do want to allow euthanasia within their borders. It'll probably be 2+ weeks before the repeal will be at vote, so I won't be submitting this for at least that long. Still, I'd like to get a good proposal in place on what I know is a pretty contentious topic. Anyhow, here goes ... and I'll have a few more comments at the bottom as well: This needs some updating/redrafting, but I haven't had time quite yet. Here's a quick list of things that I'm likely to edit/add: Require physicians that refuse to perform euthanasia to provide a referral to a willing physician, Definitions of some sort for "euthanasia" and "terminally ill," and A clause encouraging all nations to improve their end of life care to minimize the need for euthanasia due to treatable/fixable things. I'm also planning to do more research on RL euthanasia programs to see what their standards are and how they work in practice. Certainly, if anyone has such RL knowledge, feel free to make my life easier and share that sort of intel. As always, opinions are welcome!
  3. Anyone who's interested in working on repeal legislation (be it as an author or a critic) ... But I'm already working on setting up the group on my own off-site forum, which just seems simpler since then I'll have more direct control over it. I've got the subforums setup already - I just need to get some more "content" there to help things out and maybe do some personlization of the forum, which I haven't had time for yet. Thanks for the offer, though!
  4. Fortunately, most of the voteres tend to agree with us.
  5. Haha, me too! Of course, not all repeals are necessarily good - as evidenced by the one presently at vote, in my opinion. Still, I have .... quite the long repeal hit-list to attack, as time allows.
  6. Hey everyone! I doubt that I'll be as "formal" in this thread as some with regular updates, etc. More than likely, if something big is happening, I'll post about it, but we're a pretty laid back and low-key region, so we don't have as many Events, per se. However, for those interested in checking out the TWP subforum at MI, it's here. Right now, there's not really any description either, since I wasn't sure what you'd prefer. So, if anyone has any suggestions, give a shout. Otherwise, the upcoming "stuff" that I'm working on with Monkey Island is/are as follows: + GA/WA Drafting School - I'm eventually planning to move this over to NS, but my regionmates (and other interested parties) are playing guinea pig for me, as I work out the details and make sure everything is as clear as possible. Feel free to join up/join in or just lurk, if you're interested! + I'm hoping to get a Repeal-oriented group started up at some point, but that's more in the planning stages than anything else at this point. I think we're due for our regional elections sometime next month, so I suppose that could be considered "upcoming" as well ...
  7. When I was in high school, I was on the swimteam. One day, after practice, one of my teammates was talking about her "goosebumples." (She meant goosebumps.) I teased her about it, and actually mentioned moosebumples as well, at one point. Mousebumples, however, isn't quite as silly sounding, and, well, I've been around forever. Same with my region - and, heck, my region was here first! (late 2002/early 2003 from what I've been told) We've got a good core of players that have been around for years, and we get new blood every now and again too. (It would probably help if I/we spent more time recruiting. ) Still, we're pretty much drama-free, which I can enjoy. Granted, not being involved in R/D probably helps with some of that "drama-free" bit. I always love meeting (and re-meeting!) people all over NS on various fora and off-sites. Good to see you guys around again too!
  8. Things are going well. We're a smaller region (about 30 nations), but that works for me. And thanks for the welcome!
  9. Hey all! *waves* I'm the WA Delegate from Monkey Island, so I thought I'd mosey over here and check out the pretty swanky new forum setup you guys have here. Not sure if a WA resolution discussion forum is something that you're looking to incorporate with the new look, but I'd be more than interested to try to assist with any drafting endeavors. (and probably nose in on some of the At Vote threads if you don't keep me out ) Anyhow, to mark these new forums, I brought my own fireworks. Hopefully no one minds if I set them off ..... ?
  10. Monkey Island would love to have embassies with TWP. I'll work on getting a forum open for you guys shortly. Thanks!
