I currently have negative time (Taking summer classes at community college) and doubt I'll post a lot. Still, though, I will post on my favorite fandoms and random awesomeness here from time to time. Plus, this is my first time taking courses during the summer and this doesn't sound like a very rigorous class, so I might end up actually having some time to kill around here. First: XKCD. Did anybody else see this and then immediately proceed to whip out a pencil and paper to plug various guesses for your own locality in? I estimated that r is roughly 1 km for me.

I did, in fact, maintain a nation; I noted on the RMB that I was switching my nation here temporarily. I've brought the Republic of Llamas back, but I always made sure to keep at least one nation here.

I believe that moving forward with Cormac's legislation would be fine, as it is possible to revise it later to improve the voting method used.

If I were approval seeking, there are so many things I'd be doing differently; I'd be supporting Cormac's proposal as a whole, rather than just most of it. I'm not in this to win votes or support, or I would have refused to criticize the NPO earlier, I would have avoided opening my mouth on the whole bicameral issue to avoid losing votes from people who don't like the idea; honestly, if what I wanted was to get votes and support, I'd be packing my bags and running off on the first train to TSP or TEP. Instead, I stay because I honestly like TWP and want to give it my all to improve it. If I've acted strangely, it's because I like this proposal outside the fact that it strips the in-game populace of its own voice.

Indeed. I don't like the fact that he's disqualified from voting in the HGA under the current rules, which require an in-game nation in TWP, for example. To remedy this, I added the section on honorary membership to the constitutional draft I put up earlier, which would allow Tweedy to participate, for example, and I think this is something which should be incorporated with every draft to help protect individuals who cannot place a nation in the region for whatever reason, but only so long as they are active participators.

I like most of what you've written, Cormac. Formatting and most of the details are quite nice. I'd like to ask you if you would be fine with me taking the constitution and rewriting portions of it to add in-game poll democracy, as I think that outside the disagreement on whether we should expand the franchise to in-game nations as well it's mostly a better draft than the rough outline I submitted earlier.

Darkesia, look at this and please tell me what sounded like baiting to you, because I'm honestly not seeing it. I'll gladly edit it to fix any problems. Baiting is supposed to be veiled insults designed to provoke a reaction. This whole time, I posted pictures of fluffy kittens. I could have sworn I was doing the exact opposite by trying to defuse a tense situation. Of course Elegarth and I will get angry at each other, it's politics. I completely understand. I've gotten angry at others while debating in NS as well, and it's something quite common here in NS. I am sincerely glad that Elegarth and I will both be able to talk to each other more respectfully tomorrow morning, as I want to listen to his advice to help improve the constitutional draft. Dark, the alternative was pretty much to yell, scream, and insult him directly. I saw PD's post and sincerely wanted to change the state of affairs and try to act more maturely, as the way both Elegarth and myself have been acting for the past few days has left quite a bit to be desired. I didn't think that anyone would have preferred more bickering from my side rather than an attempt to extend an olive branch. I like that, actually. I recommend we hold an in-game poll to select a constitution as a pilot to see how it works out, then have the forum community either approve or reject the constitution that has been selected using a majority vote.
